Remember the Colombian-American fast-food truck named Yellow Submarine? The brothers Andreas and Flavio, along with sister Angela, now operate a storefront restaurant just north of Sunset Drive on SW 117th Avenue. The owner/operators are super friendly and accommodating. The decor theme is Rock music, with a wall of posters and album covers (see the photo), a deconstructed drum set on the opposite wall, and a panel of classic cassette boxes on the wall near the register. Altogether pretty cool! Aside from beverages, there are basicly four foods on the menu: Burgers, Hot Dogs, Wings and Fries. There are mini-burgers, chicken nuggets and Kool Aid on the kids menu. The names of the burgers and 'dogs are also rock music themed (see the menu photo). The toppings and ingredients in the various named combinations are pretty much evenly split between American Classics and Colombian-style. I've been twice, and have had a hot dog, burger and fries. The hot dog was the Colombian-style "Paradise City" dog, with Mozzarella Cheese, Pineapple Sauce, House-made Mustard, House-made Tomato Sauce and Crushed Potato Chips. I think the chips were actually pulverized in a food processor, as they were very fine. Off-hand I would say the underlying hot dog is a New York style one, perhaps National Deli. I liked this a lot. The flavors blended well, and didn't mask the quality hot dog. Warning! It is very messy! By the way, this combination was named "Yellow Dog" on the food truck. The burger was the Yellow Submarine. It is a medium-sized patty of, I think, about 5-6 ounces, grilled and topped with Mozzerella Cheese, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Onions, Pineapple Sauce, House-made Tomato Sauce, House-made Mustard and Crushed Potato Chips. It's the same add-ons as the Paradise City dog with the addition of lettuce, tomatos, and onions. They offered the choice of raw or grilled onions, and I went with grilled. I liked the burger. It was hot and juicy, and like the hot dog the various sauce flavors melded together seamlessly. If I were pressed to be critical, I would say that for my taste the burger patty itself could have been more seasoned (with basic salt and pepper), and the bun was a bit dense (on the other hand, it held up to the juiciness pretty well). I still recommend it! The fries were rather ordinary frozen french-fries, with a bit of Cajun? seasoning on them to liven them up a bit. Well! At least I can scratch this burger spot off my list. I tried very hard to find something positive to say about their burgers and food in general, but I couldn't find anything. It's a nicely decorated small burger spot and it appeared clean, but that's pretty much it! The burgers are VERY greasy and NOT cooked to specifications. I ordered the "Breakfast in America" consisting of bacon, egg (FAKE EGG) and cheese and requested if cooked medium but it arrived WELL DONE and soaked in grease! The Carnitas Tacos were just ok, nothing special, definitely not worth repeating. Another disappointment were the fries, borderline cold and definitely from a bag. How can a burger joint not serve REAL fries? If you're not serving REAL fries, what's the point? You might as well call yourself McDonalds. I've been craving a burger for a few days and this place has been on my radar for quite some time. It's a relief to finally find out they're not all they're hyped up to be. I came here for lunch with some of my coworkers and we all ordered something different. I had the Oye Como Va Burger, which was described as having ham, pickles and white mustard. Sounded like a Cuban style inspired Burger resembling a Cuban sandwich. The Burger was topped with Salami and not the good stuff. Seemed like Beef Jerky. The other burger ordered was supposed to have Jalapenos, but had no jalapenos. The regular burger seemed to be the winner, my friend had no complaints. I won't be back. This place is AWESOME!!! My wife and I try to come once a week. Well, I try to convince her to come once a week, in addicted. The burgers are amazing. I would say top 3 in Miami. Buns are never soggy, meat is always cooked just right, and everything is fresh. The workers are very nice and courteous too. Excellent spot to come and spend lunch. The decor is also awesome. There's a wall of albums and posters of some awesome bands, there's a drum set on the wall, and you can watch them cool your food right when you order it, so you know it's fresh! Oh how I had high hopes for you Rock That Burger. As soon as you walk in, you are drawn to the album covers on the wall. They have a nice size TV also, which was playing the Heat game, which was nice. We came in, not a single soul in the place. The woman behind the register was nice, and let us figure out the menu before ordering. I had a Yellow Submarine Burger and Fries with an Orange Fanta. 1) The sodas were in cans. For a burger place you should always have fountain sodas with free refills - at least in my opinion. 2) The Yellow Submarine burger is a Colombian style burger. It had a tiny drop of pineapple in the very middle. If I am ordering a condiment as unique as pineapple on a burger I would expect to be able to taste it when taking the first bite....didn't happen. The burger overall was just unimpressive and "regular". 3) Fries - very ordinary fries. But then again, fries are fries right? Unfortunately, I don't think I will be back. It got to the point where I felt I was chewing on mush, and I had such a hard time swallowing my food. None of the flavor a stand out, so when you take a bite, it's not enjoyable. (Even the raw onions didn't taste like anything... ???) The staff is polite, and our food was ready fast (less than 10 minutes). Loaded chili cheese fries are okay, but nothing to write home about. No flavor, no spice, just nacho cheese and flavorless chili topped with mushed jalapeño. Boyfriend couldn't even finish his California burger (is that what it's called?), and he'll eat just about anything. Save yourself the 25$ and eat somewhere else. Boy was i excited when i took a search last saturday for "Burgers" at the miami area and found a new burger joint not only new but in the kendall area right where i live!! I was so happy and drove straight to Rock that burger... The place is nicely decorated with rock themed band posters and nice rock music videos playing on a tv to make the ambience, the menu has a good variety of creative burgers and also you can build your own. The staff/cooks are super nice and welcoming also the restaurant is ridiculously clean. My burger and fries where deliciously good and tasted home made, the prices are cheap too. I went here because I noticed that it was close by my house. I saw the sign for this place while running errands, went home, saw it on Yelp and decided to come back to try it out. I walked inside and tried reading the menu on the wall but started to get annoyed when one of the TVs showing the burgers kept changing while I was trying to read it. These were burgers that weren't listed on the other parts of the menu on the wall so I had to keep staring at this TV to figure out what went in my burger. I asked the staff if they had a paper menu that I can look at to compare prices of the burgers on the TV that kept changing. They told me they were getting paper menus next week. I ordered the mini burger with fries for my daughter also and they told me that they didn't have them right now and could only order chicken nuggets or a hot dog for her. Since I told her that she was going to get a burger before coming here, I found this frustrating. The drink for her was a packet of Kool-Aid. I ordered the Ring of Fire burger and some cheese fries. The staff was OK, not particularly friendly but at least informative, and the food came out quickly. Thankfully I asked for the sauces to come on the side. The spicy chipotle mayo was good but the spicy cilantro mayo was definitely too much for this burger and would have overpowered the taste of the rest of the burger. The cheese fries were good. I was happy that it wasn't just melted cheese on top but like more of a cheese sauce. Overall, I wasn't really happy with this place. It seems like the atmosphere they are aiming for is to be a smaller version of the Hard Rock Cafe. The decorations match this beautifully but management just seemed to miss out on minor details like having menus available, having the kids burgers in supply for the customers that walk in (Did I mention it was back-to-school week?) and not putting the garbage can in a place that the customer would be able to see. For me to think to feel like I had a good burger, I'd have to find it memorable. It doesn't need to be a gourmet Coral Gables burger for me to think it's good. With that being said, there was not much that was special about this burger. It tasted like something that I could have made at home but with some jalapenos on top. Very dissapointed of this place. We follow yelp recommendation and checked the menu as we drove to the restaurant with our three kids just to be told by the waitress that due to the pandemic the kids menu ($7 drink & fries included) was not available. I asked why is that the kids m4nu gets affected due to the pandemic and she just replied that because they are not offering full menu. Now, she mentioned that the only things not offered was the kids meal and avocado. This is a very deceiving practice, false advertisement and unfair business tactic against consumers. I am happy to report that Rock That Burger truly does have burgers that rock. We discovered this place accidentally while leaving the BJ's Warehouse across the street and decided to give it a try for lunch the next day. My better half ordered the California burger, I customized my own burger, and my daughter had a kid's cheeseburger. We also ordered fries and onion rings. All of the burgers were rich in flavor and both the fries and the onion rings were good. The food is made to order so it took about 15 minutes to be served but it was worth the wait. Great burgers I tried the yellow submarine and the money burger and we got the Hawaiian pizza fries and the pomegranate ice tea all of it was amazing. On top of that the service was outstanding the woman that took our order was extremely knowledgable about the menu and helped us decide what to get as it was our first time. Went to this place due to a recommendation from a colleague at work. The atmosphere is great but the food is really good. It shows that they cook quality food and serve them with great smile. Food, service and hospitality was absolutely great. We caught them on a weekday at an odd time. Me and my wife along with my infant son were the only one there. My boyfriend took me here today after discovering that it's officially his new favorite burger place. It might be because of all the rock 'N roll posters and music they have playing plus the awesome burgers, he's a big fan of classic rock and you can definitely feel the vibe in this place. I ordered a basic burger which is called the Hotel California (lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup/mustard and cheese) for $5.49 and a side of seasoned fries for I believe $2.89. The burger and fries were delicious, my boyfriend is on a strict diet so he didn't have one but he says he'll be coming here on his cheat day! They were over cooked and I was using a fork for the chili cheese fries and the fries were so hard it broke the fork's prong.
