At the time of this review, I've been coming to UKF for about three months. I do one boxing class…read moreper week as more of a way to mix up my normal workouts. When I was looking for a boxing class to attend in the East Valley, I looked at all the suggestions on Yelp, Facebook groups, and even the social media accounts of the locations. When I look for a boxing class, I want to learn technique, get a solid workout, and have fun. I'm not looking for a cardio kickboxing class or an ultra-intense boxing class for high-level boxers. I enjoy the workout, and I enjoy the movements. If you're wondering if you would fit in with the boxing classes, I would say that there are all shapes, ages, and levels at the classes I've been to. I've done drills with high schools, people that are middle-aged, and even those older than me. Everyone is welcome at UKF, and the coaches make sure you work within your level. They wouldn't partner you up with someone much more advanced or vice-versa. I purchased a ten-session package after I did the free one-day trial, and it has been a great investment, IMO. I always finish drenched in sweat, and from what I've heard, some other guys that track their caloric output are pushing 700+ calories burned in a one-hour session. One of the cooler things that I've seen is the kid's classes. The few times I've gone in the evening, it's right after the kid's classes, and these kids ROCK! They have the footwork and pack a punch! Very awesome to see kids building confidence and having fun learning how to box!

IronGloves is an amazing place to work out. They have a great combination of workout options,…read moreincluding personal training, boot camp and open gym. I started coming to IronGloves to train for an upcoming charity boxing match. In just two short weeks, I have learned a ton about proper technique while also losing a few pounds and inches off of my waist. In less than a month, I can already wear dress shirts that I had taken out of my rotation because I had gotten too heavy. I can also see my endurance improving rapidly. During my first personal training workout, I felt like I was going to pass out because I was so out of shape. Now, I'm powering through my workouts while still retaining proper form and technique. Lastly, I can't say enough about how amazing owners Joe and Renene are. Joe is a great trainer who really motivates you to reach your personal fitness goals. Renene is so incredibly approachable and always answers your calls and texts so quickly. She really works with you to ensure that you develop a routine that is rigorous, yet convenient. I will be a client at IronGloves for a long time to come!

Joe & Renenne are owners and easy to work with for memberships, classes, etc. They have all your need for sale on location and for good value: gloves, wraps, t-shirts and gym towels (which are mandatory but available for a mere $1, what else only costs 100 cents these days??) I've been a regular here for 3.5 years and am 49 years old. I participate in Tommy's sparring clases on Saturdays at 1:00. Come & get some.

First and foremost this is a very cool place to workout with some money obviously spent to decorate…read moreand create a club like vibe in the gym area. So for cool points and theatrics, Rumble gets all the stars. However, as an actual gym that pays attention to new comers and individuals this is where I removed a star. This was my first time coming in for a workout and I truly had no idea what to expect, which is fine by me, I like being surprised, however some people may not have liked the experience as a newbie. My friend told me to come meet her, and gave me the heads up to buy hand wraps online to save money. So I did that. When I arrived I checked in. I was told first class I could rent boxing gloves for free. After that it's $5 rental. I asked "how does this work" about the class and workout. I was given a brief explanation and then I requested help with wrapping my new hand wraps. That went fine. Then the teacher called everyone into the back gym area. No greeting or checking in with me that I'm new. We just went to work. Now for me, this was all fine. I workout a lot and I do other group classes elsewhere and have a personal trainer, so I'm very aware how to workout without hurting myself and I pick stuff up pretty easily because I have a foundational base of safely lifting weights and body mechanics. But for someone new to fitness this class would have been a lot to grasp and not injure oneself by doing too much or using poor technique. (Since I was given no instruction). Long story short, Rumble is a cool boxing gym but maybe could use some encouragement to check in with new folks for any questions and give a high level overview, with a brief tutorial on how to safely do the moves (aka punches). I'll definitely go back, as I said it's a good and hard workout. I attended via ClassPass as I do most things, maybe that is why the experience was different? But either way, I've been to other places where they (meaning front desk staff and teachers) are more accommodating to a new person in their gym.

Everyone wants to be a badass at some point, don't they? I had been wanting to get back into…read moremartial arts for some time. Since AZ Combat Sports offers new students a free first class, I joined Ms. Official Badass Grace O. in an evening hour-long Muay Thai session of punching, pivoting and sweating. After filling out the necessary paperwork (A form basically saying don't sue them If you get hurt practicing, etc.), I was given a tour, and introduced to many cool and experienced students in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu), MMA, and Muay Thai. The class started with some cardio (Jump rope), then moved on to stretching and some muscle strength exercises. Since everyone else was not a newbie, the assistant instructor then gave me an individualized intro class where I learned the basics of punching while the others practiced kicks and punches with a partner. Since I used to take kenpo, a lot of the muscle memory I've retained doesn't fit into the style of Muay Thai fighting, at least where striking and hand movements are concerned. The instructor was patient though as he guided me through the different moves. I have to say I was a little disappointed I didn't get to kick anything today but I understand that you gotta start with the basics if you want to build a solid foundation of skills. Compared to a krav maga class I took a few years ago, I liked the atmosphere here better, and I appreciated the personal instruction. While the krav maga class has you jump right into action, practicing attack scenarios, the Muay Thai class focused more on form so that the punches and kicks you deliver have the most bang for your buck. I'm still debating whether to get back into a more traditional martial arts or more of a combat sport like Muay Thai, but if I do decide to go into Muay Thai this is the place to be!

I was so lucky to find this place and I just want to say that if you're interested in martial arts, specifically Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai, LOOK NO FURTHER! This is the spot!
