Dousman Family Dentistry is near my home so decided to give them a try. I wish I had done so years ago! From check in to the exam, the staff were friendly and competent. Dr Whalen gave me a very thorough exam and listened to my concerns. Tess, the Dental hygienist was gentle and handled my teeth cleaning and my "dental anxiety" with sensitivity and professionalism. All in all I am very happy with the results and looking forward to being a long term client at their practice.

I've been a patient of FCD for years - first in Madison then in stoughton in recent years. I…read morecalled the Stoughton office today because a piece of my crown had popped off and needs repair. I have dental insurance plus a supplement. I was told that because I had an outstanding bill for a minimal amount that had been sent to collections (of which I was unaware but offered to pay immediately) they were unable to schedule me. Even after offering to pay the bill immediately I was told I was kicked out as a patient and could never be seen there AGAiN. I have always had a good experience with the STAFF there, they are great. FCD is a chain corporate business that has always felt a little scammy, but the Stoughton staff kept me coming back. Sadly because of some ridiculous corporate policy I need to take my business elsewhere. I am a healthcare worker myself and am very aware that this industry is for profit; just disappointing to see even local dental offices turning away loyal patients (or rather, "customers").

The hygienists are financially incentivized by production, so they make more if they can sell you a…read moreproduct or service. This should have no place in healthcare or dental care. I was told this by a hygienist who worked there. I went to the Fitchburg office for 19 years. Great care during that time but year 20 will not be a good fit. I am refusing a recommendation for deep cleaning around some pockets in my gums. I want to continue with the superficial cleaning to keep the remainder of my teeth healthy. They do not allow patient choice on this. I HAVE to get the deep clean or get my cleaning elsewhere. So year 20 will begin with a new dentist.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. They made dentures for my mom. They were so big in her mouth…read moreand they didn't fit right. They make her look buck tooth and her lip sticks out. She also talks with a lisp with them in. We jumped through every hoop they asked us to jump through for months to "fix them". They were still too big and didn't stay in. She cannot use them. Every time they said they would call, they did not call. I would receive a text or email several days later, or nothing at all. We waited for over a month before I called and followed up on a product they claimed would work to make the dentures fit correctly. We asked the dentures to be remade, and instead they sent me a referral to a different dentist. I was a patient for 20 years. They are in it for the money, not to help you. I had also sent them one of my coworkers for implants, and they completely mess up his dental work as well. I suggest you look elsewhere for a better dental team.

Anyone who does not have a dentist please consider West Prairie Dental. I had tooth pain related…read moreto a cavity and I randomly picked Aspen Dental. When I went to AD, it felt like I was in a constant sales pitch. They concentrated their efforts on some long term work that would fetch a higher profit and glossed over the real reason I was there (tooth pain). Then I went to see Mark at WPD. It was an entirely PAINLESS process from waiting room to leaving. I was in the chair fast, Mark explained all of my options without a sales pitch and he had my filling done n 40 mins. Now maybe I am saying all this because I have no more tooth pain but I guess that is the point. Thanks Matt and Mark!! I will be back and keep on referring people to you. Josh Kravitz

I HIGHLY recommend West Prairie Dental.

I've only been there twice, but each time I have been beyond satisfied and happy with the service I receive. I have always been very anxious when I go to the dentist, regardless of which doctor I see, and Dr. Bitner and his staff always are very reassuring and comforting throughout my appointment. They consistently make sure you are feeling well and that you are okay. During a cavity filling appointment I was having a very hard time staying calm during the first fill and they kept checking in to make sure I was okay, that I wasn't in pain, etc and between the first and second fill they numbed me for the bottom tooth and instead of rushing me like most places tend to do with patients, they let me take a break until I felt like I was ready to continue. They are a great office with great doctors and staff and I will definitely be returning and recommend them to anyone!

I had extensive orthodontics that were being done by another office and when I'd go in for check ups he wasn't condescending about what they were doing which was nice. Their office was also accommodating and non-judgmental about our family not wanting fluoride treatments. My dad loves Dr. Straub since he's done a lot of his oral surgery. In his words he's, "fast and painless" - important things for oral surgeons. On the other hand, my sister has TMJ issues and Dr. Straub was never able to fix anything for her. He tried a number of treatments but none were successful. I'd recommend him for check ups and surgery but not for TMJ.
