Happy Hour specials
Donna R.

Sushi is a perfect summer meal with a spicy/cool combo. Today I enjoyed specials from Rock and Roll Sushi including their Pyro Roll ($10.95) and a refreshing Peach Beach ($6). Their fresh egg-roll was a perfect starter too. This was a much needed cooling off break and the relaxed atmosphere with excellent service (both bar and wait staff) along with beautifully presented food makes this local spot a solid summer contender for me! In addition to daily board specials I've included a shot of Happy Hour specials too. This is quality sushi at extremely reasonable prices! For some eye candy snag a bar side booth with a view of Prince!

This is such a great little sushi place. True to their name, they play rock n roll music and the walls are decorated in the rock theme. The menus are on old vinyl record covers. The service is always great, and if you ever have the pleasure of having Monica as your server, ask for one of her personal signature margaritas. They're incredible! The sushi is named after rock bands/singers. It's wonderful and always quick to be made and served. The chef doesn't mind subbing items in rolls. Just ask! For those who don't like sushi, they also serve hibachi style food, but note that it isn't cooked in front of you since this isn't a traditional hibachi restaurant. It's from the grill in the kitchen, but very good.

Cyndi Lauper Roll and a delicious LIT!

Let me start off by saying this, this isn't your traditional sushi bar, it is however absolutely outstanding! The sushi dishes are more or less an introductory style of sushi. Some rolls are deep fried or baked and most contain some type of tempura. That being said, you can always opt for the roll you order not to be cooked or contain tempura and go the more traditional route. My favorites are the Red Hot Chili Peppers roll and the Johnny Cash roll. Both are mildly spicy. It's actually an ingenious twist on sushi that should motivate more people who claim not to like "raw fish" to actually try it. This location has become my "go to" spot while in the area. Oh, the drinks are very good as well. Monica does an outstanding job and she's really good with the patrons. Give them a try. You can thank me later.

Great dine in experience! Service was very friendly and attentive. The sushi was fantastic and fresh and everything was cooked just right. My husband and I enjoyed the egg rolls, ginger salad and seaweed salad. Definitely recommend the Tommy Lee and Heart rolls! We will definitely return, soon.

Sooo good I had to eat it slow!!

What great service and atmosphere!! I love the "cheater" Samurai chop sticks for us uncoordinated sushi lovers. :) I had a monstrous tuna stack that was out of this world good. I'll be back for sure.

From my reconnaissance results, everything was wonderful at this restaurant. The hostess greeted me immediately and gave me a tour of the restaurant when I told her that I was surveying and comparing different Japanese restaurants in the area. She asked questions about my event and what I wanted in the experience. The restaurant was bright and clean, which I absolutely loved. Other places were way too dark for my preference. We toured the bar area, the sushi area, and the hibachi area. Everything was clean, organized and inviting. The hostess was very friendly, informative and helpful. She asked about the times that I might come and even suggested the best times for particular days. I felt so comfortable that I wanted to end the tour and order something to eat on this mission, but I decided against it until I found out that they serve dim sum. Since these delicacies are generally not available where I live, I decided to try a few of my favorites. While the taste of the shrimp & pork dumplings was underwhelming, the sesame balls were perfect. I am excited to bring my family here for the hibachi experience and I will update this review afterward. Update after the hibachi experience. When the five of us arrived on a Friday at 5:30 PM, we were greeted immediately. My tour guide from the previous day, remembered me and told the hostess to seat us at a special table. Then the usual process of hibachi started. Our cook was very interactive, funny and entertaining. He prepared our food wonderfully, seasoned it well and entertained us expertly. My cousin, whom had never experienced a hibachi dinner/entertainment prior to this, thoroughly enjoyed her dinner and raved about coming back sometime soon. We all had such a wonderful experience that we will return.

Shiso's got personality -- the sushi here is fun, creative, and full of surprises. You can tell…read morethey actually enjoy what they're doing in the kitchen, which makes it easy to enjoy what's coming out of it. The fish was fresh and flavorful, and the rolls had that nice mix of texture and flair that keeps you guessing in a good way. Now, about the dim sum: the ribs with black beans turned into a bit of a bone buffet (great if you're part-time paleontologist, less great if you're hungry). The pan-fried gyoza seemed to have skipped the "fried" part of its job description -- more soft than sizzle. But the sushi? Solid win. It's the reason you come here, and the reason you'll come back. Shiso is the kind of spot that makes Mobile feel like it's playing in the big leagues of sushi creativity -- just maybe let someone else take the dim sum experiment for the team.

I love this place so much. My husband and I went on very first date here and everything I go it is…read moreas magical as the very first time. The service is amazing and the food is soooo good. I always eat too much but it is so worth it!!!

I really wanted to understand the hype around We Roll, especially after seeing so many glowing…read morereviews on Instagram. Unfortunately, I left wondering if we all went to the same place. The concept is great: all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese food for around $25/person, but instead of a traditional buffet, you order from the menu and everything is brought to the table. Just know they charge $1 for each piece of sushi left uneaten, depending on the roll. We tried a little of everything. I ordered the hibachi chicken and my husband ordered the teriyaki chicken. Both came out fairly quickly, but both were dry AF. The sushi, on the other hand, was actually good and tasted fresh. Service was another story. Some of our sushi took around 20 minutes to arrive...and we're talking two pieces at a time. Then came the part I couldn't overlook. One piece of sushi arrived with hot eel and spicy mayo on top, but the fish itself wasn't warm, which immediately made me question how long the rice had been sitting. I also noticed spots in one of the sauces that looked like something growing in a Petri dish. I asked whether the sauces were prepared ahead of time and was told yes, they're made in advance and refrigerated. And then I went to the bathroom. Nope. It was dirty enough that I decided I could hold it until I got home. For me, when the restroom isn't clean in a restaurant, it makes me question what's happening in the areas I can't see. Overall: Yes, it's only about $25 a person. But inexpensive doesn't mean my standards for cleanliness, food handling, or service disappear. I'd rather spend more or skip the all-you-can-eat concept altogether and go somewhere else. The sushi itself had potential, but between the dry entrées, slow service and cleanliness concerns, I wouldn't return. And I'm genuinely confused how Instagram has convinced me this is a five-star experience
