I'm about to order additional supplies for composting and mulching as well. I miss the location on 1st (mostly due to the increase in delivery fees - ha!) but my recent orders and delivery experience have solidified me as a customer for life. Service and price were both great when working with these guys about a year ago. We hired a contractor to replace sod after removing a pool and to landscape our backyard with some rocks since the tree shade killed some grass. They were affordable and delivered everything on time. Fast forward to a year later... we maintain our yard with monthly treatments through a company. The rest of our yard is thriving, yet the two patches of grass that we replaced with sod from this company are FULL of crab grass. No matter how often we have our company come back for treatments, we cannot get rid of it. It appears to be ok at first glance, but if you go up close, it's literally just crab grass! It's as if we planted weeds. It's also super thick so it grows differently than the rest of our grass. We are so frustrated with this sod and feel as though we have to reinvest to do it all over again. read more

Yes, I did tell them to get their G**d**** load off my gravel driveway after they failed delivery instructions which they promised they could fulfill, but the manager cussed me out about how ridiculous it was too believe they could unload onto a tarp...it's one thing to cuss and another to cuss someone! Friendly staff but the guys don't know much about the Oklahoma stone they have and their selection is very weak compared to st Elmo. I purchased the wrong Oklahoma based off the guys working there judgement " I can't tell the difference between pecan and peach Oklahoma stone, they both look the same" that's all they had to say and I even showed them pictures. I got screwed out of 295 dollars and they won't pick it up nor try to remedy the situation. Educate your staff I'm not going to give them anymore of my money even though I've supported them for the past 3 years I'm not the person performing the job, in the consumer and I'm going to tell my whole neighborhood association about your ridiculous response. read more

These guys have won my business for good. Half of my granite delivery washed away in a storm and they were kind enough to make a special delivery to replace what had disappeared down the street. They did so at the last minute which I know was a stretch. Good customer service is a rarity these days and Im grateful to find it when I can. These folks rock. Had a small project that needed about a yard of granite gravel. Ordered decomposed granite for delivery. Before the delivered they called and asked what it was for. It was for a xeriscaped flower bed. They explained that usually granite gravel vs decomposed granite is used in that scenario. We changed the order and we are very glad we did. Neighbors have some decomposed and ours looks much better (don't tell them). They were also great about the delivery and precision dumping of the granite so that we could work with it in a tight area. Very fairly priced as well. Great service. Not sure how much you can review dirt and rocks, but these guys are awesome. I recently installed a new patio and wanted some rock landscaping to finish off the look. I started calling some places around town. After sticker shock from some of the local establishments, pricing rocks like precious gems, I happened upon Rock-N-Dirt. They were friendly, helpful, made great suggestions AND delivered my rocks the next morning... right on schedule. Even their delivery fees were significantly lower than those other places. First things first. I am not a contractor or a landscaper. I just needed to get stuff for my yard. I am not a professional. I found these guys because I pass by their lot pretty infrequently. My latest project was to put a path on my lawn. I needed crushed granite and talked with them about how much I needed. I was a little leery about being oversold, because really, the last thing I needed is extra granite just hanging around my yard. Sure enough, he mentioned how it compacts really tightly and I thought briefly about it-but bought a little more just thinking better safe than sorry. Not only was he right on the money, but it was exactly as much as I needed and it compacted way tighter than I expect-just as predicted. Not only that, but the delivery was right at the beginning of the time frame estimated. And it had to be rescheduled for weather- so they were good enough to call a day in advance and let me know in case I'd be wasting a work day for nothing-it's the little things. I have more landscaping projects coming this spring, and I know where the rock portions are going to come from. read more

My husband and I were wanting to add some gravel to our front yard, so I did some research and found this place. We ordered the gravel and got it delivered since we live in North Austin and don't own a truck (I know! You can't be a Texan and not have a truck, but it happens!). They took my information over the phone and scheduled the delivery. A few days before the delivery, my schedule went crazy and I ended up not being home for the whole day. I gave them a call to reschedule and they were booked out for at least a few weeks on delivery so I had to get it delivered the original day, but they were totally cool with just dropping it off. When the day came, they called my husband and he told them where to deliver the item. They did and it looks fantastic already in my yard. BE CAREFUL DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. I have used them for several years and been very happy. But this week I bought 14 yards of dirt and they delivered seven. When I called to ask what happened Marc told me that's how things are done...by weight, not volume. When I told him that's not the way the dirt was sold to me he got angry and insulting. I asked him how he'd remedy the situation and he said he could either deliver a full seven yard truck today or refund my money. Before I had a chance to respond he said "I'm tired of you. I'm just going to refund your money." Response to Marc: Buying any product by the yard is a volume purchase. Not a weight purchase. If you sell it by weight, just say so then estimate the volume. You sold it by the yard. I checked my own security footage and your seven yard truck was not full on either deliver. Not even close. As I stated before you have been a good company for me to use up till now. But telling customers you are delivering a certain volume and delivering less because of weight is not honest business. read more

I was recently preparing a house for sale in Austin. After having renters there for four years the yard was horrendous. I called a landscaping friend of mine to ask where he got his dirt and sod. He directed me to A.G.P. There are three aspects that I consider make or break a business. 1. Knowledge, 2. Service, and 3. Product. To make a long story short, I should never be trusted with a tape measure. Fortunately the salesman I spoke with, Roy, suspected I might be askew on my numbers and asked to see my measurments and a quick sketch of my yard. He quickly crunched the numbers and saved me an embarassment of a huge over-order of grass and dirt. Roy took the time and explained the different kind of soils I should get before putting down new sod, and explained the different kind of sod (grass) that were available for our area. Knowledge - A+ My plan was to only sod, and put down pea-gravel in the backyard of my home. I made several trips to A.G.P. for different questions. All were met with the same personal service that I experienced the first day I went there. Ya know the kind of place where the people there just make you wanna sit down and have a beer with them? That's the kind of place this is. Everyone is helpful, never rushed (at least when I was there) and always accomodating to your questions. Even the guy that delivered my dirt and sod, (who at first appearance looked to be one of those guys that eat nails for breakfast), was friendly and service minded. Service - A+ Okay, if the knowledge and the service didn't sell me, the product was just amazing. I ordered St. Augustine grass. As I mentioned above I had only planned to do my backyard. After seeing the amazing transformation of laying down this beautiful sod, I changed my mind and order a few more pallets for the front of the house. You won't find pallets of grass sitting on the lot at A.G.P. When you order it, they order it from the farm. It comes in the next day, beautiful and green, vibrant and healthy. Now I understand why my landscaping buddy referred me to A.G.P. I've had the grass down for about two weeks now. From the moment I laid it down it was green. After watering the blades perked up. Not one pad, of the 8 pallets I have put down has died on me. They are all lush and green. (Of course you must water as directed.) I wish yelp had the availablity for pictures. My yard has gone from a dust-bowl to an oasis. Product - A+ I really can't speak on pricing since this one the only place I went. But I can say that it cost me less than I expected and I saved money with the help of the experienced staff. I can honestly say after my experience with A.G.P. I have no need to look anywhere else when it comes to dirt, mulch, rock or sod.
