In September, I attended a wedding at this beautiful venue!…read more The ceremony took place on the perfectly green lawn with a lovely man-made pond and fountain in the backdrop. The weather couldn't have been better... sunny but not too hot, so I felt comfortable without any covering over the seating area. There is a cottage several yards away where the bridal party got ready, and it served as the starting point for them to begin their walk down the aisle. One might think that the main road running parallel to the property would be disruptive, but it's not a very busy street, so you don't hear the cars driving by. During cocktail hour, guests were directed to the covered bar area to grab drinks and the venue had set up some lawn games like Jenga and cornhole for additional entertainment during this time. There was plenty of space for socializing and capturing photos. The reception was held in the Grand Barn that also had an outdoor patio area perfect for a buffet line. The large barn doors at both ends helped keep the air flowing and there were 11 tables that comfortably seated all the guests with about nine people per table. On top of this, there was enough space for a small band to set up and play live music. I loved the string lighting that draped down from the ceiling which illuminated the entire barn in a magical glow. Restrooms are in a separate structure out by the lawn, so it is a little walk away from the barn. Each one has two stalls and one sink. I believe both are gender-neutral. They were super clean, air conditioned and well-ventilated. I really admired the property grounds and the serene location away from the bustle of Seattle. From a wedding guest perspective, I would highly recommend Trillium for your big day.

The venue is truly stunning, featuring a fantastic location, a breathtaking fountain in the center of a pond, and ample space for parking and guests. There is a designated cocktail area where our bartender set up, allowing guests to mingle comfortably. The reception space is magnificent, adorned with beautiful lighting and silk draping from the rafters, plus a prep kitchen conveniently located next to the dining area, making it an excellent choice for caterers. One of the key advantages is that the rental spans from Friday at noon to Sunday at noon, which alleviated any stress regarding setup and takedown. Additionally, there is an on-site Airbnb included in the package. We booked it for both Thursday and Monday, ensuring the groomsmen never had to leave the premises. This was the best decision we made for the wedding party. There is also a beautiful area for the bride and bridesmaid to get ready complete with their own station with a mirror, emergency items (bobby pins, sewing kits, hair spray, makeup removers, etc.) and outlets for hair essentials. I wholeheartedly recommend this venue. Karissa and Tatijana managed the entire wedding with remarkable professionalism and care. On a day when it hadn't rained for over 25 years (talk about luck!), they skillfully accommodated and rearranged everything that needed attention without ever causing me concern. I am incredibly impressed by both of them; they are friendly, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. If I had more daughters, I would undoubtedly choose this venue again.

I want to understand Boxhill Farm…read more I've been coming here several times a season for the last couple years. I'm an avid gardener looking for rare plants, deals, etc and I hit virtually all nurseries in the Puget Sound area regularly. Boxhill is a weird place, full of contradiction, and perhaps I just need more backstory (or just need to accept it). For starters, don't expect a normal retail or business-driven experience as you would at say, a Seattle or Eastside nursery. In the many times I've visited, the vast majority of the time I am the only customer on-site. They tend to have an 'if no one is around, ring the bell' type sign up. Which is fine, they're busy doing other stuff and having someone sit at the front seems pointless. I also don't really need any help or advice for plant buying decisions. The weird part is that the nursery partially feels like a place time forgot. It's rather hidden and elusive, yet they keep up on specials, social media efforts, and the front sign by the road is obvious and inviting. Once you arrive and park though, it's like an adventure just knowing where to go or not go, what plants are for sale or not (generally nothing has a price tag), and are they open or not (I believe many signs/sources stated every day during the main season, but others say closed Tues/Wed, like Yelp/Google). The location is lovely, a converted farm with misc old buildings and residents. The greenhouse/retail section for tender/house plants is gorgeous and alone is worth a visit, it has incredible light and has that perfect instagram-looking level of roughness and charm. They stock a medium diversity of plants. During spring/summer you'll find a pretty fair mix of things, but they specialize in having bamboos apparently. My favorite is the stuff you'll find in the lower barn/greenhouse. They have huge specimens of camouflage fatsia, overflowing tongue ferns, and lots of other goodies. The main reason I come is that they propagate some 'rare' plants that I simply can't find at any other local nurseries. I won't say what.. :) Prices, once actually confirmed or charged, are good/reasonable or even a bargain. But another note on pricing and the weirdness is that it varies, a lot. I've bought the same plants several different times, through different people, and the price was wildly different. Maybe it was an error, maybe it was an unspoken sale, maybe they keep prices off stuff so they have the autonomy to haggle/discount at will, I have no idea. They also recently seemed to have stopped accepting (temporarily or permanently is unclear) debit and credit cards, only cash or check. Weird right? I had to forego purchases for a future trip with cash. There are more quirks, but you get the idea. Basically, go for the space and to find unexpected plants or deals. Try to get clarity on pricing. Bring cash just in case. And don't mind if you have to try and find someone who works there. (several people I've only seen once and then never again, which makes me wonder if they're having staffing issues).

Picked up some jasmine plants at a great price -- customer service was stellar and so friendly. I…read morethought this place had a lot more charm than Squak Mt. Nursery, in Issaquah. I will definitely make the trek out here more often. Selection was very different than the surrounding areas. Check out their tropical area.

Morgan was able to help me with picking up things from a locker, which I had not done before and she was SUPER sweet and helpful. I went in there a while back with my daughter around Halloween and they had such a good display of all the scary decorations too! Last visit I had, the self checkout person was being sassy for no reason. I did not ask for help and was taking my time and behind me I hear her loudly tell me "press check out"...." press card" and more. You could tell she hates her job and just wants to treat people like they are stupid or something. It was weird. I just ignored her and never turned around to look at her as not to give her bad attitude any attention. When leaving I saw she had brown hair with a long ponytail over 30. I really don't understand the micromanaging and taunting of customers here. Her behavior was off putting. Maybe avoid her at all costs if you run into this person or hopefully they put her somewhere not around customers as she can't handle it and this is coming from someone who worked customer service for years. Maybe some staff needs re training on customer service and friendliness? I would return when looking for a specific item but because some staff are rude I definitely will avoid the staff.
