Black brushed granite island with Calacatta marble counter and backsplash and Zellij Gloss Oyster tile on the hood.

We just finished our house with all of the tile, limestone, granite and marble coming from Rock Mill. We worked mostly with Kurtis but everyone in the showroom is engaging and pleasant to work with. What made the experience extraordinary was how they delivered on both the art and the science. For the art, they took our designers concepts and suggested alternatives. Some were at a better price point, some had better wear or slip characteristics, but the collaboration was easy and, dare I say, actually fun? On the science side, Kurtis is really an expert on the means and methods of the assembly required to get the best look and best performance from each material. And, when it came to the marble counters in the kitchen, Kurtis, without us even asking, took digital pictures of each slab and then did a layout for each showing the cuts and where the pieces need to fit together. The result? We have a book-matched backsplash and grain-matched waterfall edges. (I didn't even know what those expressions meant when we started.) Finally, they did a great job handling the logistics. We had tile coming in from a variety of places and we didn't want to get started until we had all the material on hand. Kurtis worked his network to expedite when necessary and kept the whole project flowing smoothly. Could not be happier with Kurtis and Rock Mill.

This is difficult for me as we worked with Rock Mill for an entire year during our remodel. While Monica was very helpful we did not end our remodel well. Our final purchase of 5 slabs for our kitchen was an awful experience. I drove all the way out to the warehouse where Rock Mill bought the slabs from so that I could just see the full size slab vs. the small cut they provide in store. I liked the slab and they recommended I put them on hold as they were the last ones "from the same dyelot". I did as they recommended and went back to Rock Mill to purchase them. Well, they certainly were NOT from the same dyelot and one of the slabs was actually "bowed". Once my fabricator picked them up from the Rock Mill warehouse were they signed off & released them he realized this once he had cut them and put them together (see picture below). Being my main contact/designer at Rock Mill I truly feel this discrepancy between the slabs should have been caught by Monica and/or anyone at the warehouse. Once the fabricator saw the issue he called me right away to show me and he even called Monica himself at Rock Mill to discuss what they could do about this situation. Well, unfortunately Rock Mill would not take ANY responsibility and blamed it on the fabricator AND myself! So, needless to say we had to buy TWO new slabs (as those were the last ones apparently, although they later "found" one after we purchased and installed the new slabs). In the end we were out $4k for two bad slabs and had an awful experience with Rock Mill after we spent A LOT of money there over the course of the year. Really sad they cared so little for loyal customers. There are many tile stores, I'd be cautious of Rock Mill being they are over priced AND lack customer care/support.

As someone who has been watching woodworking videos online for a long time and just starting to get…read moreinto the hobby it was a great experience. The people are friendly and helpful, and it helped me feel less intimidated to ask about things. Some stuff to know for beginners like me. First if you're getting wood bring a measuring tape, they have some there too if you need. There is a finished lumber section in the back, lots of S4S lumber of different varieties that you can choose from. Theres a desk in that corner where you tell the people what you want and how to cut it. They give a couple free cuts with each purchase. For the long pieces that are standing up, you can ask for them to cut a piece and put the rest back, but only if the piece you put back is 8ft or longer. The 'B' means they charge by board foot. Its really easy to calculate, they have signs with the calculation, 'L' means they charge by the foot. For sheet goods like plywood, you park your car at a number in the back past the gate. Then you ask someone at one of the counters for what you want. You are also free to walk into the big warehouse outside the building in the back to look around at the sheet goods. You buy the plywood at one of the counters and tell them how you want it cut up. They'll give you a paper after you pay that you take to the booth in the back. You tell them what number you are parked at, then someone will go get the wood, cut it up, and deliver it to your car. Overall I'm really happy with the experience and am looking forward for a chance to go again. I managed to fit two 8.5ft long boards into my suv along with other various goods. It barely fit but now I'm excited to have lots of wood to work with.

The section where they have the decking displays was in complete disarray. There were boxes everywhere. No organization at all. I had a difficult time finding the samples and nobody at all paid any attention to me. I finally got the attention of someone to assist, but he seemed to be in a rush and I don't think I got all the samples I wanted. I then asked this person about a miter saw I was interested in and he seemed oblivious to what I was asking him. All I wanted to know was if they had a new one in the box available. All I saw was the floor display. He then just told me to ask someone at the desk. If I wanted service like this, I would just go to Home Depot!

I was very pleased with how seriously my email was taken and with the effort that was made to resolve the situation. I subsequently met with Joseph, the manager, and he completely turned the experience around for me. He listened to my concerns about my problematic experience and assured me that he would handle the situation. He then focused on moving forward with my project. He was professional, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping me find the right materials for my kitchen renovation. He listened carefully to what I was looking for in both a quartz countertop and backsplash tile, showed me a number of appropriate options, and guided me in directions that were actually helpful rather than overwhelming. By the end of my visit, I had made my selections and felt very good about them. Joseph's customer service was excellent, and I especially appreciated the way he handled my concerns regarding my previous visit. It says a lot about a business when management responds well to a problem. My experience with Joseph restored my confidence in Cal Tile, and I am very happy to give them five stars.
