Loved playing this course. It was challenging but fun. Fast, undulating greens and beautiful fairways. I highly recommend!

Will Detleff Schmidt We recently visited on Memorial Day Sunday with 4 players; [under Sutherland 10;30/10;45 ] w/two tee times yet we continually had players crowd us, directly behind us; seemed to be over crowded and some had left cigarettes and cigars lying around; I think the Greenskeeper was AWOL- they no military discount; on memorial weekend? The greens were in horrible shape; I've seen better 9-hole forces it simply overpriced fees- what a horrible little red neck course? The gas run carts have you sucking gas fumes- horrible...more under my article - worst was after 4 hours of play, the restaurant/snack bar seemed backlogged also we left. This place needs new management - never again!

I'm semi-torn on this golf course. On the one hand, its extremely well kept, rules are enforced by course martials throughout the round, and the layout is very unique. On the other hand, it has a bit of a snooty feel to it, it's pretty expensive, and although I've seen walking rates on the website, you would have to be A) insane, or B) in amazing shape to walk this course, especially for 18 holes. The Pros: This course was seriously in amazing shape. The grounds crew deserves a medal for what they've been able to maintain. It's a TON of land, and it all looks great. That combined with the rocks placed everywhere, really makes you stop and take a look around at the course at multiple locations when playing. The architecture of the holes is very unique! I've never played a track quite like this, and while it did get me into trouble on some tee shots where it wasn't super clear where to aim, there were a lot of clear areas left and right of the fairway to hit your second shot. Just overall a FUN course. The Cons: Did I mention it had a unique layout? That does not come without a price. The two separate courses weave in and out of each other on both the front and the back, making it hard to navigate to the correct tee box on some holes. Yes, there are signs, but sometimes in weird places. You'll probably end up doubling back to a few locations throughout your round. That's the only golf-related con from me. As for the snooty comment I made earlier. This was mostly in regards to the starter when we teed off. He walked us through the rules of the course. That's fine. But please don't talk to us like we are 5 year olds that have never played a round of golf before. He was very on his high horse about all explanations. We get it, dude. All in all, I would 100% come back to play this course when in the area. It provides a change-of-pace challenge you don't get with a lot of courses, and there are some extremely fun shots to hit (I.e., the par 3 from the top of the quarry). It is a LITTLE pricey, but if you don't care, I'd say give it a shot (ha!). You'll enjoy your round!

I am so glad I found this gem of a course! It's hidden in the back of Winchester Virginia with breathtaking views and challenges abound! The clubhouse is nice and so are the employees. Two corses challenge your abilities and reward risks. I highly recommend this place!

This was a really fun course. First week of November and it was still in great shape. The layout was very interesting and challenging.

I came out after checking in, and went to load a cart. Starter was not at the podium (which had a tip jar?), but was on his phone and sitting next to the podium facing away from the carts. When I asked if I can load any cart, I hear him say "No", which is fine, but took a minute to finish his game and then get up to give me a key. He pointed at the cart I should use, and I went and loaded it myself (what's the tip jar for, if not going to be helpful). ~Cart had a cooler on it, but no ice in it ~We had about 20ish minutes before our tee time, so we were trying to rush to warm up, but the starter said "You guys have plenty of time" ~We started warming up and ~12 minutes in, the starter begins yelling our name to tell us to start our round ~Starter did not tell us pin position or anything, but found the info on a board ~The score cards do not have a good view of the greens/pin positions, so just winged it COURSE: ~Tee boxes were nice and flat ~There weren't many scenic or particularly nice holes, but overall it was well maintained ~Bathroom available after hole 4 and 8 (same bathroom/portapoddy) ~You loop back to the clubhouse at the run and the 15th tee is next to the clubhouse) Overall, it's an okay course, but for the price point, I'm not surprised that the course was not that busy on a Sunday during peak season.

Cart girl didn't come around nearly enough and when she did, she didn't have any water. Also there are NO water coolers on the WHOLE course. ZERO water. On a 90° day, they're asking for trouble. But it gets better / there was a wedding so the clubhouse was CLOSED. Unacceptable. They said no water since Covid. It's 2024, get it together. No ambulance for Covid, just an ambulance for heat exhaustion....come on, do better.

The system, GTS, is cool where the golf ball auto loads onto the tee. But the quality of the golf balls are really low, the graphics aren't great, and again, I don't trust the data all the time. After some research, I thought @GolfHouse would be a great first experience for him since they offer junior coaching and it's similar to a video game. When I emailed them with questions, they were the most quick and complete in response than any of the other Ashburn area courses. At this point we're 3 sessions in. Coach Ju Hee is very professional and confident, but has just the right style to keep my 10 year old engaged. In each session she has walked the line effectively between correcting swing issues and helping him understand how the game works, while also keeping it fun and engaging for him, which is probably the most important part at this point. The sessions involved 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time in the bay which I'll sometimes use to take a few swings with my son. So far, this seems to be the right mix. Coach also shared the before/after swing photo I posted from session 2. While I'm not sure if other local coaches have this type of tech, I think this is a significant advantage because of the real-time feedback and insight it gives her into exactly what is happening. It's also great for us to see the progress he's making. Overall, I definitely would recommend @GolfHouse and Coach Ju Hee for lessons. At some point I'll probably book a bay with some of my friends who are more serious golfers during a lesson and see what they think about it.
