Rochford Wines is such a spectacular space. Located an hour out of Melbourne CBD past the 'Green Belt', Rochford is a Winery, Art Gallery, Restaurant, Cafe and Festival Ground. I took some family down here for the day and they were (as i always am) so impressed by Rochford. The space is beautiful, both inside and out. The scenery was lush and green, the indoors beautifully designed and the Art was spectacular. Hanging on the walls you will find the likes of Norman Lindsay and Sidney Nolan; all for purchase. The winery has a restaurant that kicks butt! Providing both inside and outside seating, we scoffed our delicious meals inside (as the rain kept us in) and were blown away by the flavours in our meals. I chose the Beetroot Risotto (as it was the only vegetarian item on the menu) and was (to be honest) not expecting much but i was definitely surprised by how tasty it was. My family all said their meals were great as well. They have a great selection of wines here at Rochford, Buttery Chardonnay's and Crisp / Spicy Red's, all such grand wines to sample. On top of the restaurant and wines, they have a Fudge Bar! The Fudge Bar was incredible, Orange infused Dark chocolate fudge, White chocolate macadamia fudge, Chocolate expresso and they even had scrumptious macrons for $2 a pop. The grounds are also subject to festivals and gigs. We were told that last week they had MeatLoaf perform and had a Jazz festival the day before we arrived which saw the likes of 3000 people on the grounds. I was happy to walk away with a bottle of Fortified Red which tasted like Cherry and chocolate infused red wine (It will definitely not last long in this house!).

Rochford Wines has hosted a series of concert events throughout the years. My experience at Rochford was for a Cuban Jazz festival. I remember the weather wasn't that great but it didn't seem to matter all that much as the crowd and vibe were still soaking up all the atmosphere and loving it. We had a sit down lunch in the restaurant dining hall then sat down as groups for a scheduled wine tasting. The experience was up close and personal both in the restaurant and during the wine tasting. You had the opportunity to ask questions about the wines and purchase them at a later stage. Bands, live Jazz acts and other entertainment accompanied by food stalls took up the other half our day, along with siting on the green, relaxing, listening to music and appreciated a good wine.

Great food and wine, a beautiful combination

I've been to Rochford Winery twice and both times left feeling quite jolly. The first time was on a wine tasting tour which featured a great wine and cheese pairing followed by lunch. My dish was delicious, prepared well and paired nicely with their big selection of wine. The second time was just for lunch which included a shared bottle of wine between the table. Wine was again excellent and should be for the high prices they charge. Food is also priced at a premium but I felt the quality was worth it. Yummy mushroom and pork pizzas along with duck and polenta fries. Even their entree of spreadable spicy salami was different but tasty. Service was slightly off, taking awhile to place our order and then not receiving our mains because there was still a bit of entree left to nibble. It also took awhile to pay. Overall though I would say this place is a great spot, especially recommended for tourists that want to see and taste the best of the Yarra Valley.

this was a excursion stop on my cruise trip (Celebrity Solstice) coupled with going to the Healesville Sanctuary. This is a nice, modern winery who is used to catering to the needs of large groups. The background is very picturesque, mountains & the vineyard. We had a tasting of four of there wines (table, 2 reds, Rose & Cab; none sweet) then we had a small lunch meal & dessert. The host for us, Kish, was very entertaining & knowledgeable. They do have a stage in the back lot for live performances. Pretty Neat. Nice scenery, out in the country on the way to the area.

The medium sized dishes are great value for only $20. You get a world class meal, full of diverse flavour and ingenuity.

My wife and I did separate tastings so we could share a combined assortment of 8 estate wines. While I usually lean toward Cabs, the standouts here were the Syrahs and a particular Melange blend. Super smooth and just incredible. Heather was helping us and she was an absolute delight! Highly knowledgable, personable, spirited and fun! We stayed for lunch and opted for the a la carte menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the potato side. The lamb meat fell right off the bone and had the perfect outside char with tender interior. Great mix of middle eastern inspired spices. And the potato side had this sauce that blew my mind! Hard to describe.... A dark fusion of pesto, chimichurri and God knows what else... blended perfectly. This place was TOPS!! I'd come back for sure!

As a fan of Pinot Noir and liking Chardonnay that is not heavily oaked, I loved all of the wines. We were treated to 3 single-vineyard tastes each of both varietals. They know how to make delicious wine and have two ranges pitched at slightly different markets - The IB range pitched slightly younger or for what I like to call "Tuesday night drinking" and the Giant Steps which is high end, special drinking and what I like to call "stash it away for later" kind of wine. Each range offers terrific value and you can try both when you visit the cellar door, though the GS tasting will set you back a tasting fee of $10. On top of great wine, these kids know how to cook (pizza, shared-dishes) and know that to keep people happy you should keep them fulfilled with coffee (they roast their own), cheese (the have an amazing selection) and sweet treats (check out their take-home cake and pastry section). It's a massive venue, but don't go assuming you can just rock up unannounced. Giant Steps is hugely popular, particularly on weekends, so do yourself and your hungry family a favour and make a reservation well ahead of arriving.

Off the beaten path, past the Sanctuary, down a dirt road and up on a hill is where you will find…read morethe Badge Creek Blueberry Farm. As we parked I thought, "okay, so there's only one other car here." Stepping in I was thinking to myself "uhhhh..." I really had no idea what to expect. Going to a blueberry farm, when it's not even blueberry season, what do you do here? Smart thinking right? But, I was reassured of my decision when we were immediately helped to try out some of the different beverages that they have. We tried the St. Ronan's Ciders: apple and pear. They also have another apple cider on tap. As I was trying these out, my eyes lingered upon the wall behind the counter, and I saw that they also offered a range of blueberry wines. How could I possibly come to a blueberry farm and not try out their blueberry drinks? After tasting the wine, sparkling and fortified, we chose a glass each of the blueberry wine. It's home grown and hand made, you are actually parking right beside the farm. Now the blueberry wine...first off, BLUEBERRY WINE! How cool is that? Not only does it smell just like blueberry pancakes, but it tastes like smashed blueberries, and takes you straight to blueberry heaven. It's very light, and it could be drank like a white wine, or you could make sangria with it. I've had other fruit wines before, but I had never tried blueberry, until now. And seriously, it rocked my world. Accompanied with a blackberry coconut cake and a side of ice cream, we sat down by the fireplace. It was...perfect. Tucked away from the busyness of Healesville on a weekend, this place is away from the crowds, so that you can recollect yourself to sanity. It's quiet, chill, and trendy with jazzy music. On a winter's day, with a cozy warm fireplace, wide windows to take in the views, and a glass of wine, how could it can get any better? They also have a good range of homemade jams and toppings. But my only regret is not taking home a bottle of their delicious tasty wine! I've been raving about it ever since! The blueberry wine, I just can't get it off my mind!
