We wanted a teacher who was a good fit, so asked about trial. It's a PAID trial, but in my opinion very worth while to make sure it's a fit for both instructor and student. My son liked the instructor very much. When I called to enroll, I was told we had to pay an "enrollment fee". However, the offer online was NO enrollment fee and FREE book for summer classes. The owner told me it ONLY applies to families that don't do a trial lesson. Because I had a complimentary trial, I DO have to pay enrollment fee and buy all books. I'm not a fan of bate and switch. I looked back at the offer and it didn't say anything about paid trials disqualifying the offer. How is the trial complementary if we paid full price for it...... Needless to say, we went just down the street for a true free trial and are making pure rock music with a much better music school that has many more instructors, more economical rates and are honest!! I can't in good faith recommend this music school.

My child's typical remarks were about how grumpy and strict she was. Rescheduling missed classes was difficult and once when we were able to reschedule, she had not put it on her calendar. We eventually asked to end classes in mid-December 2022, but then received a full charge for January 2023. When we asked about this, we were told that we should have read our contract more carefully, because 30 days notice was required when cancelling lessons. Because apparently it takes a month to coordinate losing a student in a group class setting? Did not enjoy having to pay for a month-and-a-half of classes we did not take. Overall, a very negative experience and we will happily seek out piano lessons elsewhere.

I had a tailpiece strap break on my violin and a cello where the A peg was always slipping. He gave me an estimate of about 50 dollars for both and I called a place in St Paul that quoted a slightly higher price. He had them both fixed within a week, and didn't charge me more when he said the tailpiece itself had cracked and had to repair it too, and he had to shave the peg a bit to shape. He was very knowledgeable about the cello and bows I gave him to look at, including my violin which he recognized as something that sells for $2000-$3000. He says he used to work at Mayo but retired and went to a violin luthier school, and he does it for the love of the craft, not to make a lot of money. He certainly is very deep in knowledge and skills and more than up to the problems I had to fix.
