Our first tuxedo experience. My son's senior prom. Was an awesome experience!!!! He knew exactly what he wanted. He's a big guy (6'3 240lbs with size 15 shoe). They had everything in stock. My son decided last minute (10 days before prom) that he was going so I felt I was never going to be able to get a tux in this short span of time. We were told we didn't need an appointment. Walked in. Store was very crowded. I was so pleasantly surprised that we were waited on immediately. They had unlimited options. Took my son's measurements. Super helpful. They gave him several different things to try on. In the end (a half hour max) we had everything ready to go. My son was able to pick the entire outfit up in 2 days. And a HUGE added bonus was the owner was at the high school the next morning from 11-12noon for me to drop tux off. That was super helpful. HIGHLY recommend this place read more

I was 20 seconds in th3 door this morning and his royal rudeness Rich already was grabbing my son's suit coat out of his hands and throwing it on the counter saying this ain't gonna work! I appropriately yanked the suit coat back told him he lost my business and I hope with this review plenty more!!! And told him where he can stick his ain't gonna work words!! Our future son in law's bridal party was spread out all over the country so he thought it best to use The Black Tux, an online tux supplier. The tux my husband received was horrible and was too tight. They sent the next size and it was huge. At that point we decided to cut our losses and just go to Rochester where we received not only excellent service but a beautiful tux which fit perfectly. The next day my son arrived with his tux (from the Black Tux), it was the day before our daughter's wedding and we noticed his pants had a big rip in them. Back we went to Rochester, and luckily they had the same style tux so he was still able to match the bridal party. I can't recommend Rochester enough! I will second, fourth, and fifth the previous comments: AMAZING Service. SUPERB. My sister decided to have a white tie wedding with many of the guests (including the bride, the groom, all the groomsmen, and my boyfriend) flying in from other countries. White tie is much more formal, much more expensive, and much more specific about *exactly* what is to be worn by the gentlemen (think Fred Astaire). The attire was very important to both the bride and groom, so it had to be right. My other sister knew someone who owned a store in the area and was willing to give us a group deal on the ensemble, so we actually ordered it from them. However, when my boyfriend went to try on the rental two days before the wedding we discovered the pieces were wrong! They had ordered regular white vests rather than the proper white-tie waistcoat, and the pants were regular black-tie/tuxedo style pants (not the high-waisted ones). The guy at the store insisted that this was all that was available for order. We had almost resolved to deal with it being wrong, but decided to try another store. A quick map search for availability in the area took us to Men's Wearhouse first, where they did have the ability to rush-order the correct vest for the next day (wedding day!), but the store clerk kindly recommended we see if Rochester Formal had it available in store. I am so so so glad she did. The owner was so nice and tried so hard to help us. He was very professional and knew exactly what "white-tie" required. He even noticed the buttons on the jacket we'd already rented from the other store were "scorched" and offered to repair them!! Then he re-hemmed the (not-so-high-waisted) pants! All very very quickly! It was amazing. He really showed that he cared and was willing to work with (not profit-off-of) our mishap--which was a life saver considering the wedding was eminent! I rented two of the proper waistcoats (one for my boyfriend, and one for my brother-in law) and it really made a difference. They looked great! I later found out that my uncle and cousin had also rented from there. Smart! Especially for something like this, don't take a chance- go to Rochester Formal first. They know their stuff! read more

I had a tuxedo emergency this past weekend. I had a black tie wedding to attend in Philadelphia. I tried on my tuxedo the night before we were to leave and I put on a few pounds so it did not fit. I found ROCHESTER FORMAL WEAR in Maple Shade on line and they advertised IN STOCK tuxedos. I gave them a call and was assured it was no problem. On our way to Philadelphia from North Jersey we exited off the NJ turnpike (exit 4) on our way and we were at the store within minutes. I was measured and dressed to go within 15 minutes including alterations. The service was great and the price was even better. No "rush" fees. I told my wife "I told you so". If you go anywhere else, you are crazy and are wasting your time and money, these guys are the real deal. Went in to pick up a tux for a wedding this weekend. My friend who is also in the wedding party asked me to grab his and I automatically assumed the worst. I would have to convince whoever it was behind the counter to let me leave with both tuxedos. Not the case at all. This guy was great. I live in ft lauderdale and my boyfriend went to the big box to order a tuxedo and we wanted to pick it up in Cherry Hill NJ as we were attending a black tie wedding. We arrived Saturday morning to pick it up. When he tried it on, the only thing that fit was the bow tie. It was so mis measured , nothing could be altered. We went on my phone and found ROCHESTER FORMAL WEAR in Maple Shade which was 5 minutes away. We called ahead and were told it was not a problem. When we arrived the owners ,Stan and Richard took care of my boyfriend. He was measured and out the door in 15 minutes and looked like million dollars. Not only did they save the day but it was less expensive then the big box store. Since they were not open on Sunday and we were leaving Sunday, Stan picked the tuxedo up at our hotel on Sunday. I recently got married this past February, and placed an order for tuxedos 6 months in advance. The Thursday before the wedding, I was finally got a call to try on my tuxedo. Since two of my groomsmen aren't local waited till Friday, the night of the rehearsal dinner to try them all on. That night we found sleeves up to the elbows, holes in crotches, mismatching style suits, stains, and the suits were just old and worn. Not knowing what to do, and if this issue could be fixed in time for the wedding the next day, I spent the night searching the Internet for same day tuxedo rentals. Around 5am I stumbled across Rochester Formal Wear, and read a few reviews similar to my situation. I sent them an email, along with a hope and a prayer, that I needed myself and groomsmen in tuxedos by 1, and if it was possible to call me as soon as possible. The next morning was spent attempting to fix our poorly put together tuxedos, and after leaving I got the call that put me at ease. "Is this Joe." "Yes, may ask who's calling." "Rochester Formal Wear, we got your email and have what your looking for in stock. I can have you and your guys sized and fitted in 20 minutes." "That's great, we'll be by to see what you have." When we arrived, I simply said "Hi, I'm Joe" and within seconds the measuring tape was out, sizes were being shouted across the room, and we were being fitted. We all agreed that this was a complete different experience than what we had gone through this morning. The guys at Rochester Formal Wear are friendly, professional, and most importantly know exactly what they are doing. As soon as we walked in, I knew everything was going to work out. They even jokingly apologized because it took 23 minutes to get us all in suits, as opposed to the 20 minutes he said it would take on the phone.
