This is a decent sized grocery store with your necessities & more. A big selection of Potato Chips & snacks. Not a whole lot of pop. Some really good looking ice creams & flavors. They have 4 or 5 self checkouts & then your regular cashiers. Whatever you do, do not try to go in with your own cart, basket, book, bag, or anything to go shopping because they will take it away from you. You have to use one of the carts or baskets to shop with. I didn't walk around the whole store this time like I did the last time and I don't remember everything I saw the last time, but it's a good grocery store for a neighborhood like this. Buyers beware: You really have to watch how products ring up (today I alerted the cashier to a price match from the Freshco flyer and when I got home I realize she didn't credit it). Rocca's also often doesn't have all the things advertised in its flyer. Rain checks don't include the PC points that often are the only part of the flyer offering that make the product a deal. Not bad overall. I honestly can't complain about anything because it's mostly other customers I have very minor issues with, but we're all human and that's what counts. I see the effort the staff put in and when I'm there, it makes me feel at ease. I'm not usually a people person, but the staff makes me feel welcomed and I talk to them when I need assistance. If the main management would make things easier for their employees that makes the difference. Treat your employees like family and they will follow you into the deepest valley. I can sense people's emotions around me and can figure out what is wrong without saying a word. If it wasn't for the employee's kindness and hard work ethics, I'd choose a place where the employers treat their employees with empathy and the atmosphere is a little easier on my sensory ability to absorb people's emotions. It sounds strange, but that's how I'm wired as an individual and it comes with many advantages and disadvantages where someone's emotions are fueling me. If management could be a little easier on their employees, it would make things easier for the management staff and employees, thus creating an environment where on the gloomiest days I feel a little better knowing everyone is being treated with kindness and respect. The cashiers especially because they keep the lines moving and they're very helpful. Keep up the great work and I hope to see some smiling faces on everyone. read more

This is a smaller grocery store but it generally has everything we need to feed our family. The staff does a great job keeping the shelves stocked and the store clean. Started shopping here after the renovation about 5 years ago and it's become our favourite location. Better than big box store. I already posted this on google but figured I should warn y'all on yelp too. Management and employees here are very disrespectful to delivery drivers or merchandisers who stock products there. There is a clear power trip intention here where those individuals feel like they have higher authority over fellow workers who are just doing their job. *** I noticed they are never rude with customers BUT ONLY TO THOSE WHO DELIVER OR STOCK STUFF And 99% of the staff there is unwilling to help or care about other essential workers, which a genuine human being should have the compassion and sympathy to do so. Aligning with other posts/ reviews, this seems to be an on-going issue, which the owner of this location clearly takes pride in the continuous encouragement of this kind of behaviour. Aside from that, I want to send my regards to people who have been victims of this place. This is not what Canada stands for. Good location, and often good deals. However, their website holdings are often very different from what is actually on their shelves. Since I shop for a handicapped person outside of my own household, this can be very frustrating. I wonder if there is any way to make the online holdings fit what is on the shelves. read more

Probably the worst No Frills in Toronto. I can understand the small selection based on the physical limitations of the store, but as other have said, almost every "Sale" price is the actual cost if you buy multiple numbers of said item. This is the only No Frills I've been to that practices this, and I've no doubt it is a deliberate attempt by owners/management to deceive customers into thinking an item is less expensive than it actually is. Beyond the shady sales tactics, I don't understand the logic whatsoever of STILL not opening their front entrance. There is zero reason for this anymore as COVID customer limits have not been in place for months now. All it does is make accessing the store by foot extremely inconvenient. If I had to guess, the owner is keeping it closed because he/she is under the impression it will limit shoplifting. Mom was harassed today by two employees. They approached her and made her afraid enough that she nearly left without her groceries. She felt physically unsafe and isn't feeling safe to return. Elders being harassed in the community is unacceptable and the manager she talked to about one of the boy's behavior was intent on blaming her for their behavior, rather than taking action to ensure the safety of customers in the store. When asked how she could bring it up with the owner, she was told by staff members that you don't and not given any information about how to make a complaint and share her experience at the store. We've been shopping there for years, but the quality of the experience has really gone down lately. read more

Accidently missed an item while checking out and the management and 5 staff members chased me, physically pushed me, threatened me with a knife and took my groceries. Went into Roccos yesterday Jan 18 and forgot my service dog ID as I had worn a different coat the day before when I visited the store . I moved back into the community 7 months ago and am really trying to stay local for shopping and Roccos being close allows me to walk there with my service animal . Long story short I forgot my service dog ID yesterday . Instead of assuming I could walk thru the store ( as most cashiers and staff know my service animal at this point ) I approached security staff who do very little to actually curb theft but rather harass paying customers like myself and asked if I could enter today as I had forgot my card . Tall POC male security guard and a female staff gave me the clear to purchase my items . I am just about finished and I see security walking over to me in a manner that would suggest I have done something wrong and put his hands on the back of my sweater as if to attempt to grab me I turned around and told him point blank he does not want to do that, put your hands on me . His response " it's not up to me management has asked you to leave " now humiliated and confused as well as getting my bearings as he put his hands on me I asked him " what the problem is you just said it was OK "? He responds with " management has asked you to leave I have nothing to do with it " then denied me speaking with this manager. He used his body like a bad cop to push me out of the store not allowing me to purchase my groceries nor allowing me to assist the senior I was there to help . Very saddened as this is the only grocery store within walking distance of my home and I will never after my experience and assault via security guard every enter this store again . This store is not service dog friendly as I was asked multiple times each time I shopped there for his card by multiple staff . Accessibility is not a choice it's a RIGHT ! Worst customer service I've ever had!!!! I was in customer service for 25 years and was shocked at the events of today...They did not clearly mark over the peameal bacon which is on sale a limit of 2 when I brought 4 to purchase...was told of the limit, told the rude attitude riddled cashier that I checked and it did not say any limits?!...she picked up the phone and called to check and told me it was clearly there!....want to SEE!....I said yes....as I get there it's to the left of the peameal and over the chicken that's also on sale....so I said shouldn't it be over each product?....and was rudely told I should look for it!?....so like a idiot I said well I will purchase my limit and come back in and do it again...to which she states then I WILL CALL SECURITY!!!..(power trip much?)....so I drive to Jeffs No frills on carlaw to grab the other two and find there is no limit there and when I regaled them with the tale they could believe they wouldn't let it go...I also see Carlaws No Frills has a higher customer review then Coxwell....what a surprise!! read more

Bad customer experience at the entrance. I was just shopping at the Rocca's No Frills on Coxwell and Gerrard and I tripped on a flattened cardboard box that was laid down at the entrance. I said to the attendant that maybe he should fix it or use a proper mat. His response was: "Or you could pick up your feet." Well, what can I say? I stopped going to Vic Park/Eg to avoid the traffic nightmares. But, I will be going back. Asap. There are so many issues with this store. I never buy milk there. Ever. Passed its sell-by date. Broken bags. Not fun to get home and discover that!!! The prices are often wrong. I started taking pictures to PROVE the prices at the cash register. Last week, as one tiny example, yogurt was $1.71. Forgot to take picture. Ugh. Was charged $4.99. Didnt realize till I got home. Have been overcharged many many times at this store!!! This is but one example. I picked up some shredded cheese a few weeks back. Mouldy. So I showed the stock boy (who's likely never bought groceries in his life). He said, that's not mouldy. Uh, yes, it is. I walked away. I carried on shopping. Had to go back for something else in dairy case. It dawned on me that 13 year old stockboy put the cheese back on shelf. Yup. Back on shelf for sale!!!! I picked it up and threw it to the back of the case where no one could find it. Asked cashier how I could email manager. Uh, nope. Could i call? Nope. Rocca's No Frills recently opened after being closed for 3 years. The renovations were extensive, and the new supermarket is airy and very well laid out. It's also very clean, and well stocked with fresh produce, including many organic staples at affordable prices. There were even some bouquets of fresh cut tulips for sale. One of the most remark worthy things is that everyone there seems kind, and friendly, and there's a happy atmosphere, as if people like working there. It's just a no-frills super market after all, so you won't find anything there that isn't the usual, but I was impressed, and will definitely go back when I need to grab some produce etc. read more

this store is NOT practicing social distancing today Friday April 16th I was checking out at 13:17 and was not allotted time to complete my bagging when another person was case through and stood not more than 3 feet away from me. When he left there already another person in line she ( cashier #2) was putting through grocery items, when I mention to the sassy cashier that she was getting ahead of herself she said "no I'm not he is almost done". I've learned a lot about what is and is not a frill since I moved into Rocca's neighbourhood. Frills: - Moving the empty baskets from the tills back to the entrance. - Having enough cashiers to keep lines short at peak times. - A good meat selection. Not frills: - AC on hot days. - Decent produce. - Fresh bread daily. It isn't fancy, but this is a decent neighbourhood grocery store. We do most of our day to day shopping here, and then only occasionally make trips further out for fancier things. And it's definitely cheaper. The items I've directly compared are $1 or more cheaper than at the Loblaw's on Lakeshore and Leslie. read more

For about a year I have learned a shopping trip where I wont get all items. Whenever I go there I only get about 90% of my items in one trip. I am not talking about exotic foods but regular items such as out of kale, ginger, garlic, bread, onion and chicken. Usually I end up doing a second or third trip during the week to get all what I want. However, today the store outdid itself in this aspect. There were no tomatoes,onion,chicken,yogurt and even grapes. The produce and meat sections were almost empty. I could not believe it. It is as if some famine struck my neighborhood. I just moved to the neighborhood and was excited to discover a No Frills close to my house - I love me some cheap groceries! To my great dismay, the Coxwell location was sad and disappointing. Perhaps I was spoiled by the superawesome No Frills in my old 'hood, but I'm still let down. Crowded. Small. Grungy. Someone else mentioned that it smells like garbage near the entrance and I can tell you that's still true. I'm actually willing to forgive grungy and run down if a shop carries what I'm looking for, but this one does not. Produce was pretty standard for No Frills, nothing out of the ordinary, but all your basics, most of which are just slightly underripe. Reasonable toiletry aisle. Some veggie meat alternatives, frozen section. All the normal No Frills super sales (48 rolls of soft, cushy TP for $9.99? Yes please!). The most annoying thing for me is that there's no sign of anything gluten free anywhere - not even rice crackers. What kind of grocery store doesn't sell rice crackers? I could forgive the lack of GF bread and flour (though tons of regular grocery stores carry it now and the rest of them should get on the train), but no rice crackers? Rice crackers aren't classy! They're cheap! No Name brand even makes their own rice crackers! Come on! I will continue to do my routine shopping here, because it's cheap and close to home, but I wont be excited about it. read more

Even by 'No Frills standards', Rocca fails at doing his job. Granted, I do come back here every week, but that's just because it's the only affordable thing in the area. While it is quite large, and has a tonne of goodies, quite often (especially later in the day/week), the produce section is quite pathetic. So many times I had to deal with not having produce as basic as cucumbers or mushrooms. Also, they are CONSTANTLY understaffed. I mean, does it take a brain surgeon to figure out that in the period 5pm-7pm you need extra staff working the cash registers, since it's after people finish work? Time in and time out, I experience the same lines. Today, for example, waited for almost 15 minutes to pay. That's quite unacceptable, but honestly, I do not think it'll change any time soon, since they have the groceries monopoly in the area. I am slowly starting to explore the neighbouring Indian grocery stores, and will slowly transition, if I can find cheaper things. Otherwise, it's as convenient as any other No Frills. Contrary to those issues, is one of the better visually-organised No Frills' I've been to. It makes sense where things are and once you go through the isles, you'll easily find your away around next time. Super easy to navigate. If you don't have to go here, I wouldn't recommend it. I always dread when I have to run in and grab a few items at this location. The cashiers are inefficient and are always under staffed (compounding the problem) and the lines are ridiculous as a result. The store also has an icky feel to it - the floors are pretty scumming. I try to avoid this store when ever possible, but some times I have to suck it up and deal with all the nonsense. I do prefer smaller markets or the Loblaws on Leslie St. read more

Come for tacos, stay for the 12 pack sale. Unfortunately, unlike other no frills and competing grocery store, these guys never have sales and their categorizing skills confuzzle me, so beware lol. The only reason I give this place 3 mangos out of 5 is because, well as you seen they have mangos :D and they have these peach dominigos drinks that my mom used to share with me as a kid. Huge disappointment. We waited over three years for this store to be renovated only to find no buggies at the street entrance, almost always out of stock and little variety of products. Also, they have a different price match policy than others - FreshCo allows multiples of 4 advertised products as long as they are different (even different flavours - ex. 4 OJ with pulp and 4 OJ without). I found out yesterday this NF unadvertised policy is any 4 products in one picture. I had a Basics flyer with many different products in the picture under a price of $1.88. They would only give me 4 products in total as it's one picture. Plus they refused to match with Loblaws (they have their own list of stores). Stores can have their own policies, just clearly state them up front if they are so different from others. The policy in the NF flyer and on the NF corporate site gives none of these restrictions so I think this is location specific. read more

When I read some of the other reviews I wondered if the reviewers have ever been to other No Frills. I've moved around the city quite a bit and I'm a grocery store addict and I can say this one is far from the worst. It's too small so the selection is shitty and the aisles can get congested in prime hours but it's clean, generally well-stocked, ample parking, convenient to transit, and several cashiers are friendly (big surprise for a Loblaws owned store). All of that said, I tend to travel a little farther to a bigger No Frills even though this is the closest to my house. I have no problem keeping it a back-up location. read more

I hate having to go into this disgusting store. The floors are always dirty or sticky from something spilling. There are never enough cashiers, so getting to the checkout takes about 20 minutes. The product selection is lousy, and a lot of the things on the shelf are expired. I highly recommend you don't visit this store and tell any one you know not to visit this awful store. read more

I do 90% of my groceries here. I'd agree that it's a bit grungy but I love the size and prices (good 25% less than your typical Loblaws). For me it comes down to efficiency and I can get in and out of this store way faster than any of the mega-sized stores elsewhere - No Frills or otherwise. read more

These discount stores (nofrills, price chopper, food basics, etc ) are all the same. They are never sent enough goods and enough perishables of the same quality as their parent chains. If something is advertised at a really low sale price, they will get a shipment for the weekend and then the next truck on, say, Tues will invariably have no second shipment. It's not the stores fault they have to take what ever shows up on the truck. This is not the reason for my rant. I was in this store on a Wed around 2pm and it was busy with all cashiers working with fairly long lineups. I glanced at my purchases and they looked to be within the 1-8 guidelines of the laughably named express line. While Krista (the name on my receipt ) was ringing my purchases through she said that she would do this this time but she could not do it again. I asked what she was talking about and she said that I had 11 ITEMS ! (how petty !) I immediately labelled her in my mind as "the grocery Nazi" ala Seinfeld. I had 2 items that were doubles which in any other supermarket in the world would give me 9 items. The procedure should not be for the cashier to berate a customer in front of others but for the manager to do it or post a notice up that states because of abuse of this privilege they would have to exercise control. Although, I don't know what they would be willing to do. Would they tell you that you can't have all your groceries or tell you that you can't shop there anymore ?. I DON'T THINK SO. The manager knows that would be retail suicide. Krista said that she did not want to argue and I did but there were too many people behind me. In general, this is an average store with limited selection and quality and is strictly used by the public because of relatively low prices compared to the higher priced parent chain stores. The staff are generally helpful but certainly the majority could be more friendly and courteous. I also noticed that you can't find a phone # easily so that you can rant on the phone to the mgr. you have to physically go in and hope he is working !!. read more
