Could customer service be better? Yes! However it's very obviously new and they are working out the kinks. I hope this place stays around for awhile because the gelato is absolutely amazing. I've been here twice and the strawberry hibiscus is my go to! It's so creamy, fruity, and delicious! You get three toppings included with the price. For me the price is comparable to any ice cream place. Also you can taste the quality in there ingredients. The chocolate that topped my gelato wasn't the cheap stuff. It has the texture of higher quality chocolate. The ambience is so fun! I especially can't wait for the summer time! It's the perfect spot to grab a cool treat and eat outside on their patio. read more

The gelato was very creamy and great. The service was excellent. Enjoyed the outside seating experience.

When you walk in the cute decor of this sweet shop immediately catches your eye and brings a vibrant colorful attitude to experience. I have tried the seasonal smoothies and slushees that this place had to offer and was pleasantly surprised from the perfect balance of sweet and fruity. The second and third time around I indulged in their creamy sweet gelato. The Apple pie flavor was a fan favorite from the group I went with. The cup comes with 3 toppings of your choice. The raspberry candy bites were our favorite. 10/10 recommend. On a separate note: The other reviews that are bad are lowk stupid. Think about their location. It is in uptown which means their rent is out of this world. How much ice cream can you sell in order to pay expensive rent! Of course they have to charge more for ice cream in order to stay in business, pay rent, pay all employees, and pay for food supply. If you're going to eat in the nicest area in Houston, don't complain about the price. Think about it people don't just view the price situation from a single perspective. read more

We coincidently visited this gelateria on its grand opening day. The business was busy, and I can tell why. The quality of the gelato was the most delicious ice cream I've ever tasted. The depth of flavor was the perfect balance and their recommended topping elevated the whole dessert. Rocambolesc offer more than just gelato.. They also have chocolates, pastries, and very suggestive popsicles. The vibe was fun and a great place to share with people you love! read more

We decided to test this place out despite the negative reviews. My first disappointment was due to the prices - $10 for a large cup of gelato. The worker told us that toppings were included, so we paid then made our way to the toppings bar. After we selected our second topping, the employee said "ok is that it?" My first thought was, "Ummm no...we paid $10 for this gelato and toppings are allegedly included. I would like more than 3 strawberry slices and 5 popping boba." We politely said that we would like a few more toppings to which the employee replied "Well just to let you know, the toppings can only cover the top of the gelato." ...We were confused by this comment since there isn't another place that you could put toppings- they go on top of the gelato. We said ok then asked if we could add some crushed nuts. He started sprinkling them over the gelato then said, "ok this will be your last topping." ...WHAT! Are we children? Telling grown adults that will be their last topping? How humiliating. We didn't say anything as I'm sure this employee is just following rules that their boss has set, but it was incredibly frustrating and in poor taste. Tricking people into paying an exorbitant price by saying that toppings are included then reneging on it after your credit card has been swiped. Not a good look. I would strongly suggest that the owner of this business take some courses on customer satisfaction. A great place to start would be by reading the book, "Give 'em the Pickle" by Bob Farrell. The gist of the book is that a business owner should first concentrate on serving customers with excellence, and the money will follow. The "pickle" refers to whatever a customer wants or needs to feel satisfied. In the case of a gelato shop, the "pickle" would be the toppings. The goal of managers and employees should be to deliver the pickle with a smile. The ability to deliver quality customer service is at the core of business success. I hope that the owner will take this advise to heart in order to improve their store and increase the satisfaction of the customers they serve. read more

The gelato was excellent. A bit pricey and the cashier was kind of an ass, but the gelato made it worth it. I would recommend working on that guys attitude to make the place perfect. read more

Our family came to Rocam. for dessert after dinner in Uptown park to satisfy our sweet tooth and the cafe did not disappoint! I enjoyed the tasty coffee shake. It was cool, refreshing and sweet. I got their chocolate gelato which I personally wouldn't qualify as gelato, but instead soft serve. I thought it was delicious for soft serve especially with all the fun toppings. However, I am just not the biggest fan of soft serve compared to other desserts plus in my opinion it's pricey. You should definitely check it out though if you love soft serve (it's kinda like an upscale Pinkberry). read more

Ice cream was overpriced and basic. The toppings were limited and lacked variety. Went to TCBY the next weekend and was much happier.

Rocambolesc has a eye-catching design that really draws you in-- from the aesthetics of the interior, wall decor, and interesting font choice, this highly-touted and very acclaimed gelato store is purportedly the only one of its kind in the USA! I entered with high expectations. The staff took our order quickly and professionally, and we ordered strawberry, apple pie, coconut violet instead of the staple flavors. I was glad to see Rocambolesc take a swing at some new flavors, but unfortunately they only batted one out of three. The one they really got right with me was the strawberry, which is actually a strawberry hibiscus (it's not overtly advertised as such). Great balance of tartness, airiness, with a nice herbal hibiscus body into a sweet finish. Highly recommend this one. Now, onto the misses--the apple pie conveyed the caramelized, burnt sugary sweetness or apple pie, but after three spoons, this gelato is noticeably denser than the other flavors, and the heavy creamy profile caused us to get sick of the sickly sweet, dense flavor. The first couple bites were great, though, I would recommend sampling to see if it's for you. Last, the coconut violet. It's definitely on the lighter side with regard to texture, giving us an almost whipped cream mouthfeel. This is not inherently bad, but it also just lacked flavor. Couldn't catch notes of coconut or violet, to be honest. trying it alongside the other flavors may have masked its true nature, however, so take it with a grain of salt. Price initially turned me off--$10 is a lot for gelato--but truth is that you can't try these flavors elsewhere in town, so depending on you see it the novelty is worth it. I'm glad to see folks get creative, but unfortunately there was a hit and two misses. Unlikely to return unless new flavors are trialled. Looking forward to see how they play with the airiness vs creaminess of their gelato in different flavor profiles. read more

disappointed since i expected more. it looks pretty but the taste isn't the best. i tried all the baked goods and they were dry. i wouldn't get a single one of the baked goods again. if it was only strawberry i would have liked it much better bc the hibiscus gave it a weird floral flavor for the strawberry hibiscus. the apple pie was much better than i expected but the best was the coconut purple one. all flavors have a very smooth texture which is great. i don't remember the name of it but it was the best. the shortbread cookies i got as a topping were dry too. i guess all their cookies are just dry. i really liked the raspberry bits the best. honestly would skip on this dessert place but i'm glad i tried it at least. read more

Tastes more life Froyo than Gelato. The base flavors are pretty limited (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coconut, yogurt, and baked apple) but they have a decent amount of toppings to make it your own. I went with a group of 5 ice cream/Gelato lovers and none of us were satisfied with the flavors and only one of us finished our cup. Pricing is a bit high for what you're getting but that is to be expected in the uptown park area. The place is cute and aesthetically pleasing if you're doin it for the Gram. read more

If you think you are coming for gelato this is not the place...because their ice-cream doesn't taste like gelato at all...i am not even sure why they call themselves as Gelateria..?! read more

If you expect this to be anything like gelato in Italy, it's not. This is soft-serve directly out of a machine: think of a typical fro-yo place but instead of helping yourself and filling a small bucket, the staff will serve you a small cup for a hefty price. the ingredients and toppings are presumably higher quality than you would find at your neighborhood fro-yo shop but the soft serve was chalky and I'd just as soon pay a visit to the Golden Arches. If you want to experience gelato, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and put Sorbetteria Castiglione in Bologna, Italy on your bucket list. It's transcendent. read more

We had high hopes for this place especially because the gelato plus additions concept was so creative. It's a complicated process with numerous additions to the "gelato." Very creative concept, but what a disappointment. We were greeted by the cashier who was probably the rudest person I've come across in the service industry in quite a while. It went downhill from there! The "gelato" is really soft serve ice cream with tons of mix-ins. It's a conveyer belt type process and the cashier expected everybody to know it. After many travails, we got our "gelato." Literally flavored soft serve. Nothing special and definitely not gelato. The add ins were amazing though so I give the place two stars. read more

We decided to make the drive from tomball to post oak on National ice cream day..we wanted to try something different. This was our 1st time there and as soon as we walked in a group of 5 ladies walked in after us. The person at the counter kept looking at them annoyed. When I was trying to place an order he was totally annoyed and very dismissive, I was buying for my two kids and I didn't know the ordering process like if toppings sold separately?he didn't interact at all with me or try to explain the ordering process. He seemed like he didnt want to be there at all. They only have 3 flavors which was chocolate, vanilla and strawberry and you get 3 toppings with it which the person failed to mention. He kept yelling at an employee who looked like he was on break to get him to get back to work. The ladies were having a good time and were a bit loud, but the guy attitude was a bummer. We will not come back. It was an expensive trip that was definitely not worth it. read more

It's was just ok , It's disappointed to learn it's soft serve gelato. The texture is not it and not many flavors to choose from and portions don't equal the same as the elite reviewers. It's not a "Gelato" shop. Rather, an overpriced frozen yogurt store. Really nice staff. Won't survive as they don't have a menu or the flavor out to select. Just savored the Violet Coconut Gelato with violet marshmallows and homemade (!!!) strawberry gummies. What a delicious flavor combination! Ok to write this comment i know there are some peoples probably not gonna be too happy about my comment but this is my opinion thought. First of all , let talk about when you walk into the shop i mean everything is nice but one of the biggest problem i could see is that there are too many employee at once that not even that needed to be honest especially with a new store that not attract that customer yet so in my opinion less employee needed for the store especially on the normal weekday when there are not that much of customers. Second of all let talk about the menu , the menu was actually too much i know the idea here is make it diversity of choices but foods literally wasn't fit in when someone walk to this store their rather to seeking for some gelato some cooling dessert not some food because seriously tho if you look in the general location base , there are tons of restaurant around that serve tasty food that people rather to enjoy there and swing by your shop to have some soft serve . Third of all , the ice cream or gelato i'm not sure because your shop look like it mostly gonna be highlight about gelato but it just not there . I got the purple coconut flavor i believe that topping is nice but the texture of the icecream it just not it , it way too soft for a gelato , to be honest the ice cream texture need to have a fix on the formula it way too easy to melt out like in 60s it already melt out like water and so fast that the Mcdonald 1 buck ice cream even take longer to melt and have a better texture , seriously not to be too harsh but this gelato is the embarrassment of Italy , when a customer seeking for gelato their looking for something that chewy and thicker texture rather than so icy that not even it , the topping is nice . Lastly let talk about price and service . The price is a bit high in my opinion i bet that due to the location and the number of employees and other fees but seriously tho you guys don't need 4-5 employees on weekday especially like there are not even that much customer 3 employee is enough , 1 doing the cashier and coffee another one do the ice cream and ice cream topping and the last one take care of supply and other stuff on the weekend 4-5 employees is good enough , less employee and lower the price a bit make it 6 bucks for the cone it will work better . Btw , the service is ok tho it not like something i would seek of when i think about the best customer service . That's it 3/5 due to price , texture ,... thank you read more
