This Tim Hortons is located just off the highway in between Binghamton and Scranton in Hallstead,…read morePA near the PA-NY border. It is more of a Tim Hortons express with more limited selection rather than a full size location you'd find in Canada or certain spots within the US. It's part of a gas station complex attached to a convenience store. The interiors are bright and well maintained, with plenty of seating and American theming (the bags give a nod to it as a Canadian chain with a maple leaf). Nostalgia usually brings me back to Tim Hortons, and I probably hadn't been to one in about 10 years. The mocha latte drink I ordered was merely average in taste, and had a few more hints of bitterness than I usually like in my caffeinated beverages. The Timbits (donut holes) were slightly more sugary than I remember (or maybe it's just me getting older), but the cinnamon and chocolate glazed ones I tried were otherwise decent. Service was a bit slow, but the employee that helped me was otherwise friendly and provided service with a smile. Overall, this Tim Hortons location is good for a quick pit stop off the highway, but otherwise average for its donut and drink offerings.

Hollenbeck's is my go to for cider and donuts in the fall…read more The line is almost always out the door in the fall so be prepared to wait. While you wait you can select a peck or bushel of apples, or maybe send a scout out to the baked goods and fudges, or watch the old cider press in action. When you reach the donuts you can pick from powered sugar, cinnamon powdered sugar, or plain. Personally I think plain is the best because they are hot, crispy, pillowy delights. There is a limit in that you can only buy 4 dozen donuts per person. The cider itself fresh pressed right before your eyes. Two people work together to layer the mash and wood pallets on a very old and incredible press. The cider is well filter and not as sweet as other ciders but very good! One note: you cannot buy cups of the cider- you have to buy a half gallon or gallon and then open it outside. On the pie side you can actively see and smell the pies being made. If you would like a pie for a special occasion you might want to call ahead to reserve one as they sell FAST. In the cold cases on the pie side is also where the cheese curds, summer sausage, and some meets such as elk and lamb are available. The great thing is the baked goods are available all year, so Hollenbeck's is a great stop even in the spring and summer. Also of note it smells like pressed apples ALL YEAR! Parking- one entrance, one exit. There is parking in the front and back, and some street parking as well.
