Since this establishment is literally right outside our door, of course we had to go! Went in at Fibber Magees and walked through to Robinsons. At the happy hour there were a lot more folks in the Robinsons side and we sat and enjoyed a few pints before heading out to walk around the city. Slated chilli chicken and chips was amazing but unfortunately I was so hungry I inhaled my food before I thought to take a photo so you will just have to call down and try it, yous won't be disappointed ;) cocktails tasted great also. Delicious and classy food. We went as a group of seventy and the food came out hot and orderly. My smoked Haddock was flavorful, moist and flaky. The others enjoyed dishes like fish and chips, vegan curry, Steak and Guinness pie, chicken! Desserts and appetizers were stellar but the coconut sponge cake with custard was especially exceptional. Don't be afraid to stop in to the 2nd level restaurant and enjoy!! read more

Despite my Northern Irish roots, today was my first time ever in Robinsons bar, which is one of Belfast's oldest bars, and ever so conveniently located directly in front of the Europa bus station. I had a long day travelling, with a break in Belfast at about 5 pm and popped in for an early dinner and a glass of wine. It has an attractively dark and deceptively spacious interior.Although carpeted, it actually doesn't smell. (Good ventilation always a plus with me). The bar staff were friendly, and even though I was the only woman in the place, and alone, I didn't feel uncomfortable. The food (chicken and chips) and wine were sadly both vile and I didn't eat much. I think the menu needs a bit more information on it. It was also quite overpriced for the quality, even taking that it was just 'bar food' into consideration. However, next time I'm in Belfast I'll check it out again because I did like the atmosphere. read more

Yawn. Not a fan. I know lots of people are, and this is THE touristy bar to go to in Belfast - (something tells me that people staying in the numerous hotels across the street, leave the doors and go no further than here and the Crown and that becomes the extent of thier knowledge of Belfast). It's always bunged, rowdy and doesn't really (in my opinion) give you a sense of a true Belfast bar. I'm not making any major criticisms, I just don't love it. I would prefer The Duke of York or even White's Tavern. Robinson's is alright I suppose, but it just wouldn't be my first choice - there are so many other bars that have more character and charm about them. But if you're staying nearby or don't have the energy to go anywhere else, they pull a decent pint and do a bit of grub, and BT1 downstairs isn't too bad for a wee dance. read more

Great bar beside the famous Crown but it holds its own against the tourist attraction next door. It is made up of a number of different bars and upstairs there is a great restaurant. Downstairs there is the main bar which is made up of dark wood a typical traditional bar, out the back it is what is know as Fibber Magees and this is the traditional Irish pub. Open fire and traditional music brings this place to life. Upstairs the restaurant is lovely, they do a really good pre theatre menu and wine is reasonably priced. There are lovely comfy sofas to sit in at the dinner tables and if you are lucky to get a window seat you can watch the comings and goings of Great Victoria Street. The only downside is the downstairs bar BT1, it seems to be a waste of space so to speak. Sometimes they have karaoke on in it and to be honest it's a bit dreary and to me has a bit of a desperate vibe to it - somewhere that when you walk in you immediately want to walk back out again. It's a shame as the rest of the place is good. read more

Five bars in one! Robinsons Bars has pretty much whatever you are looking for on any given night. BT1 is known for it's "funky unisex loos" and a more lounge style. If you're looking to get your clubbing on, the Roxy Nightclub is your spot. Filled with some lovely Belfast lasses dressed to dance, this place is the spot. Fibber Magees is definitely your place if you want that old Irish pub feel. Typically, they have bands playing, so grab a bench early and get a pint of the black stuff. The Saloon is a good place to watch any footie or rugby match and have a pint before going out. We didn't try the bistro, but the Irish Stew smelled amazing. Wish it had been open at 2am after some drinking. read more

Robinsons restaurant is just upstairs from the famous Bar. It is just opposite the Europa hotel and often is filled with the residents. The food is good. The menu stays the same pretty much throughout the year so you can find the obvious stuff. Things like a duck dish, a chicken dish, and a few steak dishes. There are sometimes a few specials however, which break up the menu. The staff the restaurant are ok. They sometimes seem a little sharp and I am not sure whether they are like that all the time or are used to working in a bar where they need to be quick. However it takes away from an otherwise very enjoyable atmosphere. If you are ever in try to get yourself a seat at the window as it can be fun to look out at the Grand Opera House and the Europa hotel. read more

Robinsons Bar is one of Belfast oldest, situated just across the road from the world famous Europa Hotel. As I said its a very old place. But in comparison to the amazing Crown bar, which is right beside it, it's a bit of a let down. The place has went through way to many renovations and now just looks like a regular modern bar. This has made it loose some of its charm. I was here recently, in it's night club just upstairs. It was very dark, even for a night club and just looked plain and uninteresting. The drinks were really overpriced and the crowd was a little aggressive for no real reason. It made the atmosphere intimidating and we didn't stay long. There's many more interesting bars in Belfast, and one is just right next door to Robinsons. read more

Got to Belfast late on a Thursday night and went straight to this pub expecting to just catch a last drink before closing time. How delightful to find that they were open until 1am and that there was live music about to start! The place was packed, with a great atmosphere and the band were wicked. People were dancing and generally having a great time. And that was just downstairs - there are three more levels, including a restaurant and a nightclub! It's not Belfast's swankiest bar or most historical building, but for a bloody good time, you can't go wrong. read more

Visiting Belfast and decided to stop here in our free time for lunch. Service was friendly (maybe not the quickest), ambiance was cozy but nicely decorated, and the prices were very reasonable! I love that they have a separate menu for vegetarian/vegan upon request. As a vegan, that made it very simple for me to find something to eat without worrying too much about ingredients. Great pub, great food, and great life music in the back! There is a restaurant upstairs, but I love eating in the pub, which has so much character! My favorite food is the steak and Guinness pie, which is filled with great meat and mushrooms! But the food stops pretty early, I think around 8pm, so don't go in hungry later. In the back at Fibbers, live music starts in the evening. And most of the time, I thought the bands were good! Fun place! read more

Though the service was a little bit surly, our ulster's fry (egg, black pudding, bacon, beans, etc.) was tasty and affordable. The game was on behind us, but it was a good mid-day spot. If you want the historical atmosphere, its neighbour, Crowne Bar is a bit more interesting, but the food was good and I'd absolutely return for a pint or some pub food. read more

Went there last night after arriving in Belfast and had an incredible time in the Karaoke space downstairs. Friendly DJ, very fun people singing. What I liked most was that the singer is always in the middle of the crowd instead of up on a stage. This is one of the best karaoke bars I've been to anywhere. I do wish the on-tap beer selection was more than just Carlsberg, but it didn't bother me much. read more

We ate here on Saturday 30 January 2016 and encountered the most hopeless group of waiting staff we have in a long time. There appeared to be 3 supervisors/ managers on the floor (wearing shirt/tie etc.) and 5 or more other waiting staff. The restaurant was close to full, but never unmanageable, especially given the amount of staff that were on the floor. The only reason we were here was to see the string quartet who were in residency, as we were planning to book them for our wedding. (They were excellent, by the way). The whole evening was a comedy of errors, but here are the highlights. - We booked our table several days in advance for 8pm. Weren't seated until 8.20pm. - A starter portion of chicken wings (£6) included only three measly wings (£2 per wing). - Our drinks, including a bottle of wine, arrived AFTER the starter. When I raised this with the waiter who brought our drinks, he merely shrugged and said - "we are very busy". - The main courses (chicken burger and fish and chips) were pretty poor. We asked one of the 'supervisors' for ketchup (to help with the taste), but this never arrived. - Following the meal, our main courses were taken away and we were ignored for another 30 minutes (luckily our wine had arrived so late in the meal we had plenty of time to drink up). - When I asked for the bill, the waitress disappeared and never returned. 15 minutes later I noticed her chatting with the same supervisor who failed to follow through on a simple request for ketchup. This was surprising, given that the restaurant was so 'busy'. I had to make my way across the restaurant to ask her for it again. Following all this, amongst numerous other calamities (which plenty of other tables seemed to be experiencing), we went to the bar to pay. We spoke to another 'supervisor' in a blue shirt and tie and complained to him about the evening. His only response was - "we have been very busy". I made it clear to him that every restaurant in the city centre is very busy, but that they all manage to achieve the basics (e.g. seat people on time, bring drinks before food arrives, respond to simple requests for ketchup). He simply repeated the same response - "we are very busy". I have worked in bars and restaurants and I am pretty sure the business model aims for the restaurant to be busy every night. If a restaurant cannot handle a busy restaurant, this points to incompetent staff. (However, it wasn't actually that busy and there were plenty of staff). We filled out a comment card, which I am sure went in the bin. Here is the most concerning thing about this restaurant: It is in Belfast city centre and charges prices you would expect of a half decent restaurant anywhere in the city. It is in a location that is very attractive to tourists, particularly those who have just arrived at the bus station, or are staying at one of the nearby hotels. This is very concerning. They can clearly rely on constant custom from tourists and visitors to the city and quality has been completely disregarded as a consequence. I would strongly encourage all tourists to avoid this restaurant as they are simply wasting their time and money. There are much better establishments across the city which would be more than happy to serve you excellent food with excellent service. We eat out quite a lot and admittedly our expectations weren't exactly high for this restaurant, but they did a good job of failing to meet these. Won't be eating here again and will encourage others to avoid. read more
