Amazing spot with three levels- first floor is a great pub with sports on the TVs, second floor is a restaurant and third is a pool hall. Gord and I arrived in Belfast today after travelling from Toronto (we left last night, arrived in Dublin this morning and then took a bus to Belfast. Needless to say we were hungry and tired. ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Parking-n/a- we Uber'ed so I am not sure of the parking situation, based on the area I'd say take a cab or an Uber and save yourself the hassle. Seating-5-booths were large and comfortable in the upstairs restaurant, tons of seating downstairs in the pub. Wait staff-5-Super nice guys behind the bar, I bought a few t-shirts and they were nice enough to hold them behind the bar until we ate and hung out a few hours. Upstairs during our meal staff was great, filling you water and offering more drinks without ever hovering over you. Speed of Service-5- Everything came out pretty quick and piping hot! Food-5- The food was great, some of the best that I have had while on holiday. The staff had no problems dealing with my quirky appetite. Ambiance-5- This is exactly what you want in a pub, great people around, local and a few tourist. A live band comes on at half past nine and who ever they are they are always good. Lots of history to be seen in the pub and always a football game on. Price-5- Really good prices on food, drinks, and merch! Overall-5- I'd give Robinson's a 6 if I have out 6's. The but is the price; now I'm not really a pub goer; in fact the last time I was in this pub was over 40 years ago but over £26 for 2 pints of Guinness and two small I think 200ml bottles of cheap wine made me think how much? Yer taking the piz. I was in a Wetherspoons outside Manchester and this round would have been at least £10 less. The up side I suppose is that at these prices ya ain't gonna find too many folks getting drunk but I do wonder how long they will continue to trade. I could be miles out though; maybe while I think I'm being fleeced with a smile this is not a complete rip off and instead is priced well within reasonable but it'll be another 40 years before I make a return. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Very authentic Irish dishes. Bangers and mash was our favorite.

The restaurant is clean and they offer a big menu. The menu includes traditional pub food. I ordered the BBQ chicken. The chicken was tender and flavorful plus it came with garlic roasted potatoes. We came here because we couldn't get into another restaurant. We were starving and every indication was that they had food. They did and it was really good - I mean really good. Here's the issues we encountered no one explained that it is a maze of rooms and the actual dining area was upstairs. We ate in the sports bar area, which was fine but not much ambiance. When we assumed about food no one explained that yes we could eat in the bar area, but they have an actual dining area. Our tour guide suggested Robinson's so we went into the bar and every single seat was taken. My wife didn't like the feel of the place and wanted to leave. We headed out the door and I realized we were in the pub and not the restaurant which was upstairs. We made our way up and found a very nice restaurant that was nearly empty. We were seated and looked over the menu. I ordered the chicken curry and my wife ordered the fish and chips. We had to wait a while for our food but eventually it came and we ate. The chicken curry was fairly decent but was the third time I've had curry on our vacation and it could have been spicier. My wife's fish and chips were better and she was very happy with it. She let me have some and I was very surprised. Fish and chips can be very hit or miss depending on where you go but I this case I think it was the best I've ever had. I was wishing I had ordered that instead of the chicken curry. When we were done eating the restaurant started to get very busy so we picked a good time to go. If we ever make it back to Belfast I'm going back here. read more

The good: - food is good. Delicious Irish food with chicken/beef/potatoes, stew. What more could you ask for? - good choice of salads, soups, appetizers - dessert looked great - has all your favorite beers on tap - very nice people The bad: - bathrooms were the worst I saw in my three day stay in belfast, three day stay in dublin, and five day stay in London combined - the service was friendly, but exceptionally slow. Food was ok to poor. Service at the bistro was surly and slow. They short change you on the drinks at the bistro compared to the bar downstairs- I ordered (and was charged for) 250ml of wine and got an average size glass. The double whiskey was much smaller than at the bar downstairs. Salads are poor and the irish stew was the quality of a good cafeteria where they are trying to save money by not giving you much meat - think shreds not chunks of lamb. read more

We ate in the bistro on our first night in Belfast after a bit of research. It is a large building divided into separate establishments including a saloon, a bar, bistro, etc. The bistro had an old school vibe and felt like a place I would have gone with my grandparents. The menu has a lot to offer with a few vegetarian and gluten free options. I had the fajitas which were quite delicious, but strangely what made them gluten free was giving me chips instead of a flour tortilla. Why not just sub in a corn tortilla instead? I can't wrap my food in chips! The servers were friendly, but with every place we've been in Ireland it was painfully slow. read more

I really enjoyed The Bistro restaurant at Robinsons. I had a Caribbean fizz cocktail which was yummy. I felt very at home here even eating alone. I had a sirloin steak, which was very good. I think I should have ordered it Medium Rare rather than Medium. It came with mushrooms which were very good. I enjoyed this place so much that I was back a few days later. Robinsons Bar has a range of sections including: ~ Fibber Magee's a traditional Irish music bar ~ a pool loft ~ a standard saloon bar ~ a karaoke bar called BT1 ~ a bistro restaurant I always think there are three types of bars, those you love and delight in visiting, those which are good but you often forget about or just pop into on the way elsewhere and those you dislike and stay out of completely. For me Robinsons is the second type. It's actually pretty good, a really nice bar overall, which I don't visit that often, but enjoy when I do. A word of warning, this bar can be a bit strange in terms of clientele. Each time I've visited for drinks the crowd has been vastly different from the time before. On occasion I have seen extremely rowdy and drunk patrons in Robinsons and at other times the crowd has been lovely. So the bar can be a bit hit or miss. Nonetheless service from bar staff has always been good and drink standard in terms of selection and price. The Bistro is the main reason I visit Robinsons and although it's nothing fancy it has a lovely relaxed vibe, super comfortable sofa-style seating and views over Great Victoria Street if you manage to obtain a table beside the windows. Food is hearty and delicious plus there are a range of menus on offer including a large, dedicated Vegetarian and Vegan menu. It's a superb menu offering 9 starter options, 8 mains and 8 sides which is exceptionally outstanding for Belfast. In particular I would recommend the main dishes of coconut curry, fajitas or red onion, cranberry and brie tart. The cocktails are tasty too and make for a nice dessert, plus service from staff is pleasant and wine good. An excellent bistro for lunch or dinner, especially before or after a show at The Grand Opera House as they also offer a reasonably priced Pre Theatre menu. read more

Robinsons is one of Belfast's oldest bars and is always really busy! I much prefer to go here early evening and than go on to somewhere else as the crowd can get rowdy! But its still a really good night out! The bar is always buzzing and its situated right outside the Europa so handy for popping in whilst waiting for a train! The restaurant upstairs is really nice and serves things such as fish, steak, chicken and duck and the food has always been really good! Especially the duck which is a favourite if mine! The atmosphere is traditional but also young and lively and there's always good music on! A great night out offering plenty of variety in its different venues! Great wee Belfast bar with something for pretty much everyone or occasion. There is a bar downstairs with a bit at the back, a resteraunt upstairs then on the top floor a massive pool hall. The pool hall is fab and you can reserve a table with seats around it too for groups. It's lovely. There is a bar on this level too with a good range of beer on taps, bottles, Alaska cider and spirits etc. The downstairs bar would have a much bigger range of drinks available and would be pretty busy, I've never managed to get a table or leaning post there. Great buzzing atmosphere with it being so busy. It would tend to be a mixed age crowd, not many really young ones. The resteraunt is delicious, tables are spacious and not cramped, staff are fab. They do a brilliant pre theatre menu which is on every day (defo mon-sat anyway)...3 courses for approx £15 and absolutely beautiful food. I used to work in Robinson's. As door staff, in fact - I think all bars could benefit from a female bouncer or two, even if they are as diminutive as little me. The head bouncer clearly didn't agree though and used to send me upstairs to the godawful Roxy Nightclub where he must have thought there'd be less fights. Ha. This nightclub is truly terrible, nearly as bad as the M Club and with a similar clientele. Don't come here if you're a woman heading out with another woman as you will certainly be harassed by the gormless male clients, who would do charming things like rub their crotches against any women brazen enough to actually dance in a nightclub. The times I intervened, the guys just didn't get why and no doubt thought I was a jealous bitter lesbian. Any day if the alternative is you, mate. Robinson's is OK in the afternoon and early evening, and their fiddly-dee nights in the back bar Fibber's aren't too bad. Judging by the customers I'd see in the restaurant on the occasions that I escaped from the nightclub for a few minutes for a smoke, the food is pretty good. But this is the bar I got jumped on by an enraged drunken millie - which would be standard enough for the type of spidey hole this is, if her mother (yes, her mother) hadn't jumped on as well and her boyfriend stamped on my arm so hard I had the imprint of his trainer bruised there for two weeks. To be jumped by a millie AND her millbag ma just about sums this bar up. read more

I dined at Robinson's a few weeks ago when i was visiting Belfast and the food was absolutely delicious! We dined upstairs where they have comfortable, spacious booths. The decor makes it seem like a fine dining restaurant but the prices are affordable, and you can dress casual. We were seated next to giant windows overlooking the street and it was a wonderful way to enjoy our dinner. I ordered the soup - which was really good, and the chicken breast with vegetables which was also very good. I was surprised to see they have a full vegan menu and some options on the regular menu as well! When it came time to order I mistakenly ordered something off the lunch menu and the waitress kindly suggested a similar option and described it to me. The food was good. Service is extraordinarily slow. After ordering, took :45 minutes to get our food, but totally missing 1 out of the 3 entrees ordered. Then, sat with empty plates for about another :45 minutes with barely a visit by any of the wait staff to check on us, take new drink orders,clear plates, etc. Finally had to ask for our dessert (which we ordered with dinner) and the check. Great bar in Belfast and well worth a visit. Downstairs has a large bar at the front and a small cosy section at the back that has live music regularly. Drinks are a reasonable price and service is good. Upstairs is The Bistro which serves great food at very reasonable prices, extensive menu and also pre theatre menu available. We had the 3 course Sunday menu which had a choice of 4 Starters, 6 Mains and 4 Desserts, the prawn cocktail and cajun chicken wings were very good, stuffed chicken fillet with bacon came served with a large portion of Mash, roasties and veg served with the best gravy I've had in a restaurant. We couldn't manage dessert so they knocked a few quid off the bill, which was good considering the set menu is only 15.95. Well worth a visit read more

This building/complex is huge! Situated right in the heart of 'the golden mile' I get the feeling Robinsons purports to be a one stop shop for all your drinking, eating and partying needs. Unfortunately what seems to have happened is to create a big disparity between all the different bars so the atmosphere seems almost non-existent. Obviously in an attempt to become everything to everyone the place seems to have given up any effort to forge its own style or find its own niche. Having said that I been in countless times for a quick drink and whilst having enjoyed it (normally in a group!) I usually leave asking myself why I bothered going here instead of one of the many other superior bars a stone's throw away. Ironically the best drinkin' part of Robinsons is Fibbers out the back which despite its faux 'Oirish' get-up seems to have more of a laidback, friendly vibe. Pros: Big. Cons: Brash. read more

Robinson's Saloon is over 100 years old so is a well established 'part of the furniture' in Belfast! The interior is all traditional dark wood panelling, gold features, and dark green leather, which really keeps in line with the age of the venue! The bar also serves food; Sunday - Thursday 12pm - 8pm, Friday & Saturday 12pm - 5pm, and Sunday from 11am. Pretty decent wee city centre bar, with plenty going on with 4 or 5 venues and always plenty of people about due to its location right near the bus and train station and the better known bars such as The Crown. I have always quite liked the front bar which is always fun on a match day whether it be football or six nations rugby. There is a good mix of people here so you shouldn't feel out of place no matter who you are. The wee bar out the back is called Fibber Magees and has a nice, traditional feel about it without being too touristy and is always good fun for a bit of craic. The other parts of it are decent enough with good food being served in the bistro if you fancy a bite to eat before you head onto a show at the Grand Opera House or into town for a bit of a pub crawl. I've never been to the club upstairs but I think it is a bit of an older crowd and maybe a bit of a divorcees paradise but I could well be wrong. read more

This is a decent wee bar. It is opposite the bus station and beside the world-famous Crown bar so chances are for every local you'll find a handful that aren't. For a bar it is fine. It does have a whole host of mini venues inside: The main part or the 'Saloon' which was only as far as I'd ventured on my first time in Robinsons; Fibber Magees is your traditional-type Irish bar complete with music and 'craic'; BT1 which is a clubby type area, almost out of place with what else is inside but nevertheless its a place to dance; the Roxy club which is another place to dance like a fool; and then the Bistro area is where you have your food and usually where you say "sure will we stay for one more"... It's a nice place to chill out and it does have something for everyone usually but as a student, you go where the cheap offers are and unfortunately this place (probably because it does not need the student trade) does not boast the same offers. There's very little left to say about Robinsons that hasn't already been covered here, but I'll give it a go! To be honest, it's not a bar I go into that much. I don't really know why that is though, since there's very little wrong with it. Inside, it's old looking, but as another reviewer mentioned, it doesn't really compare with its neighbour, the Crowne Bar. It's nice enough as a launching pad for a night out, but I wouldn't really recommend staying there. It gets really busy downstairs and the club upstairs is nothing tow rite home about. read more
