I love working with him - I've never posted a review but after he left today, I was searching online for his info because I wanted to send it to a friend and I saw YELP and decided to post here (which I hardly ever do but had to today as I was so relieved and moved and happy and would love you to feel this way too). Our experience today was that I bought a used loft bed very impulsively several days ago for one of our kids and I was looking to set it up ASAP! Scott (who we call for only epic-ly big or complicated projects) came over today, on a holiday weekend, at the time he said he would to the moment. It was a complicated bed/loft to put together, particularly as not quite all the pieces (washers, screws, etc) were still included (which we had not anticipated). He took a look, sized up the project, and got it done expertly, efficiently, and quickly, particularly given we didn't have all the right parts. I love working with Robinson Maintenance for a bunch of reasons but one big one is just that he exudes calm. He also really understands value and getting stuff done fast and without complexities. Scott has also helped us before with other projects - the last one was a really complicated problem with our dishwasher where I thought we'd have to get a new one but Scott figured out what was wrong and got the part that was needed, etc. This was impressive since it was very old - other stuff he did (I'm not sure what) made it work better than before. What I appreciate is that when Scott sees the issue, he asks questions, figures out the answers (that I never know nor would I know the questions) and then he just solves the issue. Like today, he just sized up the parts to the new furniture and told us the complexities (like some of the smaller parts were missing, in addition to two of the "feet" to the bed). He's an expert problem solver and also a problem finder - always knowing how to do stuff and to reduce stress and uncertainty. I wish I could give more stars! I've used Scott before, and he always does good work. But today he worked a miracle. The door to the backyard of the apartment building finally died. It had been difficult for years, needing to be slammed shut. Then it wouldn't shut at all. It was a mess. Old swollen wood. Rusty hinges. Scott came over--early!--and fixed it in an hour. It closes smoothly, and is like new. Well, not sparkling pretty like new, because it is an old door. But it works like new. The absolute man. I had a super old wooden porch door nearly snapped off the hinges and hanging from the wrong side of the door frame. Couldn't find a single person willing or able to take care of it. Scott offered to take a look during the week, and was totally flexible/patient about timing. Within 30 minutes, Scott had the door repaired and working good as new. Approaching the fix he was positive, creative and persistent, working through some serious challenges along the way. We've had two great experiences with Scott & will definitely continue to use him for future work. Let me first note -- he is a ONE man operation. We live fairly close to Scott so we've been lucky to have him show up same day as our calls. That said, future customers should remember that since there's only one of him, it could take a few days for him to respond -- but he's worth it! We used Scott to mount two flat screens & install a garbage disposal. He also ran out to get parts from the hardware store that we didn't have to ensure he did the job right. He was careful, meticulous, fast & very funny. He is also very good with dogs (even if one of your dogs can kinda be a jerk) & is someone you feel safe having in your home. Agree with previous negative comments. I should have read all the negative reviews before trusting him based on his overall review. I needed bathtub to be recaulked. I kindly asked him to remove old caulk but he gave me excuses that it is not needed, even when I asked him nicely and repeatedly, he continued to ignore me. When I went to my local hardware store, the staffs said: "nooooo... he should have removed the old caulk!" I'm very disappointed that whilst he could have spent a little more time to give a full service. He chose to cut corners and only spent 6 minutes on my 1 hour service. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but here goes nothing. Initial experience was smooth. I called him and he was driving so he asked me to call him again. Fair enough as that is the safest thing to do. I called him again and he scheduled to come review the job at my place. He was little late but he kept me informed which I liked. He had a lively personality and very easy to speak to. He explained all possibilities and I was like yeyeyeye I finally found a contractor who can explain things right and have good energy. He left and said he'll send me estimate in few days. From here it goes south. Didn't hear from him for few days so I emailed him.. No reply, I emailed him again and then after a week he replied back saying he is currently busy so he'll get back to me in few days with quote. I waited again for 2 weeks and no reply. At this point I gave up and found another contractor. When our dryer broke, he easily saw the belt had broken, and a few hours later he was installing a new one. The same day he also replaced our thermostat. Mr. Robinson (Scott) was reliable, prompt, honest, reasonable rates, thorough/detailed, friendly and did more than I asked. When I called him passed business hours (7pm) on a weeknight (Friday), he took my call right away. The problem I had which I attempted to fix myself, via Internet repair search, was minor but I still couldn't do it (replacing the shower door rollers). I called him on a Friday night, explained the problem, he went over the extent of the repair, quoted very reasonable rates, and scheduled a convenient day and time based on my schedule (that following Tuesday). He even called me the Monday night before as a follow up to confirm my appointment. Scott normally charges per hour, unlike other companies that charge minimum 2-4 hours or a high first hour. Although already reasonable, Scott charged me for only half an hour. This included replacing the rollers on one of the shower doors, repairing and adjusting the other door's rollers and WD-40'd them, without me even asking. He also noticed the corner tiles had a gap. So he re-grouted them to prevent future damage to the tiles and wall behind. Something I didn't realize. I highly recommend Robinson's Maintenance (Scott Robinson) for home repairs and maintenance. He does commercial, as well as, residential repairs. Someone to definitely keep in mind for your repairs, no matter how small a job, and even bigger jobs. This review is definitely overdue. I had Scott come by because of a screw up by a previous contractor. He listen intensely and had great ideas for everything - the walls that needed to be remounted, the oven that needed to be screwed down to be earthquake proof, and the bathroom and closet that needed the walls replaced. I asked for a quote and he provided one that day in detail. So after I had my electrician and plumber complete their permit inspection, turns out the walls did not need to be pulled out. I was lucky. So I didn't need Scott to come by after all. But I did appreciate Scott's attentiveness, detail-oriented nature, and his professionalism. If the walls were pulled out, he would have hired him on the spot to fix it. If I ever need a handyman in the future, this is the guy I will call. read more

Hired Scott to fix a leaky faucet for my tenant. It took several attempts to synch up with him. He sent me an invoice for half an hour's work, without informing me prior the job had been done. The tenant said the faucet still drips. I emailed him for a fix, and this is his response: Me: I spoke with my tenant last night, and he said that the faucet is still dripping (unless it's perfectly in place). He said you were there about half an hour, and left quickly. What can you do to remedy the situation?? Scott: I have a one hour minimun that is $120.00 and i didnt charge for the washers and springs also note i said the faucet internals were warn and might need to replace the faucet Me: If the faucet needed to be replaced, why wasn't that done?? Scott: I replaced the washer and springs which is usually what stops the drip when doing that some of the internal parts looked slightly worn but if it leaks after the new washers and springs are installed. The faucet is bad, as I stated possibly might have to replace faucet I do not have X-ray vision or can tell without changing the washer and springs first Hence, the one star review. read more

He gave his professional opinion on what needed to be done and his main concern was ensuring that her door closed securely until we were able to purchase a new door and framework.
