I am writing this review to share my concerns regarding the Shelter Director's conduct during my…read morerecent stay at Option House. It's important for the integrity of the program and the safety and well-being of clients to address these matters. During my time at the shelter, the Director was rarely present. When she did come in, her behavior was deeply unprofessional and concerning. On multiple occasions, she: * Spoke negatively about other staff members and shared personal problems inappropriately with residents. * Appeared to be under the influence. * She had a male visitor in her office for extended periods, and the door was closed. * Spoke to residents in an unprofessional and inappropriate manner, using street slang and disrespectful language that made many of us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. This kind of behavior is not reflective of the trauma-informed, respectful, and supportive environment that domestic violence survivors need. I am disappointed and hope this feedback will be taken seriously to improve the experience for future residents. Thank you for your time and for the work you do to support survivors. My wife and I had 3 video appointments with Mr. Donovan. The first two were fine. He didnt really…read moreaddress the issues we were having and felt more like he was just trying to run out the clock. We never got many good questions from him and a lot of guessing at what the problem MIGHT be without asking any qualifying questions. On our third appt. we had an actual argument and he made it about halfway through before canceling the appointment. It had gotten heated and instead of using that as an opportunity to do some therapy, he cancelled the appointment. There was no threats made or violent behavior, I simply got heated because my wife kept talking over me and I pretty sharply told her to let me finish. Mr. Donovan noticed I was angry and asked what was making me angry as if he hadnt just watched it. I said something to the effect of " I cant get a f**king word in edgeways!" as I pounded on the desk. In response he said something to the effect of "Ok, Im ending the appointment here. You may talk to her like that but youre not going to talk to me like that!" and just ended the stream. Now of course, I shouldnt have gotten angry but WE'RE IN THERAPY! If you cant have strong emotions when you're in therapy drilling down on your emotional issues, whats the use? I highly recommend anyone needing therapy to consider going to in-person sessions. I was on the fence about it until we tried it and I get it now. There's just too much of a disconnect between patient and therapist. I got the feeling that he wasnt understanding the root causes of our problems. Whether it was because of the distance or because of technical problems, I just feel like he didnt get us or our problems. He kept giving us anecdotes of other patients hes had that had similar problems and how they were able to fix THEIR problems but didnt offer us (m)any meaningful suggestions about ours. So if you decide against in person therapy, avoid the Telehealth app for all the technical problems and if you MUST use telehealth....stay away from Scott Donovan.
