I first visited Robert's a couple years ago on my first trip to Orange. I've wanted to return ever since. I'm glad I did. Though it's a steakhouse, they have an expansive menu. However, I went with steak: the 8 oz ribeye with French fries and a side salad. It was all good; however, the steak was more medium-well than the medium I'd ordered. At $20, it was a good value, too. Plus, I have a few bites of ribeye left over to spruce up my breakfast tomorrow. I was really impressed with their side salad. Normally one receives a plate of lettuce with a piece of tomato at many establishments. Not here! Robert's side salad has lots of cheese, boiled egg, olives, and a fresh slice of red onion. Mmmm! There's a little grocery store adjacent. Among the items for sale are little pies with Texas shaped crust. I didn't purchase one as I'm trying to steer away from sweets, but thought they were clever. One of my favorite thing to eat out chicken fried steak and i probably won't be coming back here because they try to impress you with a large looking chicken fried steak on your plate! But it's paper thin! and the breading will not stay on!! and you know that's a big No No for a chicken fried steak I would rather a smaller size but thicker steak and for goodness sakes the crust need to stay on!! Here you take your knife to cut it and the top crust just falls off so you are eating the paper thin steak separately from your crust I've tried this item several times and nothing is ever different so I will definitely not come back here to spend my hard earned money the mashed potatoes seem in house made the okra was a frozen type which was good because if they would have tried to make make it from scratch it would have fallen off as well the corn is just out of a can which is not exceptable in my opinion I don't eat canned corn at my house!! I just ate a ribeye @ Robert's. It was as expected, from knowing Robert since 1971. Easy parking at front door, beer & wine, relaxed no white linen, diners in very casual dress. The people were all very pleasant and the place was very busy... Which makes one understand that Orange County is sorely underserved. I ordered the chicken fried chicken at the behest of our waitress. What I got was frozen heavily battered,bland hockey pucks. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes and gooey bland white gravy. My wife ordered crispy chicken salad that had the same chicken fry. Bill was $30 with tip. The decor needs serious updating and cleaning. Heaven was our waitress and she did an awesome job! Our first visit was 8/10/18 and we were very impressed. I must admit, the menu is a bit overwhelming with all of the options! I had the 10oz sirloin with a baked potato; It was cooked perfect and delicious! My husband had the chicken fried steak- my gracious that thing was huge! For $50 we had dinner, Boudin balls and tip. Growing up, I've lived in orange. I used to eat at Roberts every other day because it was so good! It was always a family tradition to have our birthdays there. The food never changed. It was original and authentic home cooked meals! I feel as though Robert's will be there long after I have kids and I CAN NOT wait to bring them there so the can experience the great quality food that they have. Went to Robert's after church on Sunday and had the buffet. I always have liked what I got off the buffet but tried the grilled pork chop and didn't love it. It was tough and had a lot of gristle. well id like to give this restaraunt a good review but i cant. i went there 2 nights ago. with my family. and it was horrible.they served the front of the table before anyone else, when they brought me something to eat it was a very small salad which i told my grand baby i would share with her,she ended up eating it all. after they brought the salad it was another 45 minutes before we would get our orderall all in all it took well over and hour to get our food and after they bring our food.we have no utencils i only have a knife,so like all southern girl do i adapted and cut the steak up and use my fingerswhile every one looks at ,e as if ive lost my mind i do not recamend this establishment. read more

Imagine, if you will, a Steakhouse. OK. Get that out of your head. That is not what this place is. Yes, they have steaks. The steaks are not bad. The "Steakhouse" designation is just wrong, though. Along with a salad that consisted almost exclusively of iceberg lettuce, we were brought a bread board that you would expect to hold a fresh hot loaf of bread. It held two cold, packaged dinner rolls and a little paper cup of honey-flavored butter-like substance. Not very "Steakhouse." For me, though, the thing that set them several steps below their lofty aspirations was on the baked potato. Imitation bacon bits. Seriously? Bac-os? In a Steakhouse? A steakhouse that is also a meat market! Geez, you get real bacon at IHOP. Roberts is a place where you can get a steak. It ain't a Steakhouse. Service was decent. Very friendly. read more

The waitstaff was very friendly but as a New Yorker I think everyone I met in Texas was friendly. They start you out with warm bread and honey butter. I'm not going to rave about it; it was just bread and butter but was very tasty. The fried pickles and onion spears we had as an app were nothing special. Too heavily battered for my liking. It would've been nice to taste the pickles and onions. Ribeye and baked potato were both cooked perfectly. My friend had the chicken fried steak and loved it. He had the loaded mashed potatoes. This is one of the only steak houses in town and has really good food, but the service needs attention. This restaurant is set up for large groups. If that is the case, then accommodations for large groups should be made in advance, you would think. This month my family has celebrated two special birthdays and chose Roberts Steakhouse as their place for birthday dinners, specifically my husband who just turned 45. What a alway to celebrate. Not. Reservations were made in advance for tables of 15 and 25. Managers called to check with us about reservations as well, so staff should have been prepared. Nope. This week for my husband's birthday dinner, it took over 35 minutes for drinks to be taken. Orders took over an hour and a 1/2. The waitress complained aloud to other employees about our family, being 25 people. "What do they expect?" She even said. This was overheard as our daughter was walking by heading to the restrooms. When confronted about this the waitress was rude. Mouthing off about how she's done her job. Nope. Not at all little missy. We will not be back.
