Had 5 Juki 8700 used sewing machines that needed to be put together because they came from china pieces. They were able to assemble them and got them in working order in no time. i must add that the service was cheap, but you know the saying. You get what you pay for. Will i recommend them? absolutely, because they know their stuff. read more

I had not been here in a few years. I was able to go and see the Pfaff icon2 demoed and then they were so kind to let me unbox my new one. Helped me take it to my car. Made sure I understood everything. I spoke with Teresa on the phone and she was so helpful. When I came in Colette showed me everything. The entire staff was nice and friendly. Staff was friendly but I paid for a clean and to oil my heavy duty singer sewing machine. It was clean and properly maintained but the thing that holds the foot was cracked. Came back in and they fixed it with their 90 day guarantee for free but I think they were busy? The other issues I had with it were not looked at. With sewing machine these days.... I guess I'll just toss them after two years then pay for maintenance for their supposed 25 warranty? Reading reviews for other brands say they don't make them like they use to. Cleaning out your machines is a thing of the past. read more

I recently purchased a new Viking sewing/embroidery machine from Roberts. The staff is very helpful and attentive. I just took my 1st user class for the machine and was very happy with the instructor. Can't wait to go back for the remaining 3 classes. I have a Pfaff 362 machine on which the zig zag and embroidery functions no longer worked. I had 3 other repair shops look at the machine and was told it couldn't be fixed. Mr. Roberts fixed the machine and all functions, including the zig zag and embroidery. The machine is like brand new. I'm thrilled. This store also has a LOT of fabric, books, and sewing notions to select from. I'm making a Quilt of Valor using a panel I had purchased elsewhere and the sales lady couldn't have been nicer. She pulled out several bolts of fabric, set them out on the classroom table, and helped me select the ones that looked nicest with the panel I had. I wish I lived closer than 90 minutes from this store because I'd be in there ALL the time. read more

I have been shopping at Roberts since the store was in Joliet. It was my go to store for fabric and repairs. When I wanted a new machine, it is the only place that I went. I was deciding between two models, both on sale and $300 difference. I went with the less expensive model. On the sales slip it says can be exchanged for more expensive machine within one week. It does say MSRP but since both were on sale, I didn't realize the significance. I asked the saleswomen if that meant that I could bring it back in a week for other model and she said yes. When I called today, I was told that I would get the sale price back and have to pay the MSRP price for a difference of over $800.00. I even spoke to the supervisor and got no satisfaction. I feel completely misled on their policy. I will probably go to the lessons to learn how to use the machine that I have but I will never spend another penny at this store. I will also share my experience with friends, bee, guild, and anyone who will listen. After all these years of recommending this store, I will never do it again. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Took my sewing machine in because it wasn't working properly and they had their guy look at it. Got a call the next day that a part was broken and it couldn't be replaced because it was so old the part isn't made anymore. They quickly followed that by saying "You can trade it in for a $50 credit towards a new one from our store." I declined and took my machine home. After a quick Google search, I found parts for my machine no problem. Turns out, they didn't even tell me the right part that was broken so I had to send my husband back to get the info out of them. The woman was very rude and said the reason they don't tell you the part is available is because it's expensive. How awful that they don't even offer that as a suggestion!! They're just trying to make a sale with a new machine. DON'T SHOP THERE!! read more

I really want to like this place because they have really nice fabric. What they don't have is customer service. The clerks are unhelpful, some may call it rude. They have items displayed in the store, and are out of them 90% of the time. Goodbye Robert's, I won't be coming back here again. read more

First of all, this place IS wheelchair accessible. They have an elevator. In my opinion this place has the largest selection of fabric of any quilt shop in the area. I have never been disappointed when I visited and never left empty handed. This is another place where the staff is sometimes friendly and sometimes not. Horrible service, extremely rude staff, prices are way too high, never any new in style fabrics, Very bland selection of fabrics. Seem to be geared toward the traditional idea of an older lady making old-fashioned quilts in neutral colors. I wish there were more places to buy fabric in this area so I didn't have to go there. I almost feel as though they don't want your business unless you are a part of their click. read more
