Great store. Have bought endless stuff for work there. And the sales sometimes are amazing.

Thimbles Quilts - Adding the appliqué layer to my project for the class I took.

I've been traveling down to Thimbles for a few years now. Had machines cleaned and meeting up with…read morea friend in the past (we enable each other.) But today I took an actual class on machine embroidery and had a blast. I learned so much and learned how to do things correctly. Being self taught isn't always the best. My intention was to save up more money for a sewing only Babylock machine. But they had a trade in embroidery and sewing machine for the exact same price as the new machine. After some testing of the machine and negotiations with the husband the Adventura II came home with me. For the class I used a Babylock Aria that had ALL the bells and whistles. Thank you so much Thimbles! I will be back for more classes (and machines but don't tell my husband).

I thought I'd reviewed Thimbles!…read more If you're into sewing, embroidery or especially quilting this is the store for you. It's large, attractive and laid out nicely. They have good quality fabrics and especially good quality thread. They repair sewing machines, so when the old 1960s Kenmore machine I bought needed a cleaning and adjustment I brought it in. It was returned cleaned, oiled and with a new correct needle. I also purchased a set of needles for different things. I mostly just mend clothing, but I have a periodic older visitor who uses the machine for her quilting projects, so I wanted it to be in top shape. In addition they sell very high quality machines that are borderline commercial systems you can program to do all kinds of fancy projects. Service here is very friendly. They also have classes!

I just went to Napa auto parts in Lockport Illinois today to get parts that I ordered two weeks ago…read moreand the front rotors were $25 at the time and he told me that I had to pay full price and I asked why and he said the sales over I said, but I ordered at that time. He says it doesn't fucking matter. I said you talk to your customers like that he says does it matter so I said you know what just keep your parts and as I was walking away, he goes boo-hoo and I turned around and said what and he goes. What did you fucking say to me and I said I'll never shop here again. That was the first time I ever went in the store, so what does that tell you about that place?

I've been driving around for a while now with my turn signals failing, first the left, and just…read morerecently, the right. Now I'm suddenly one of those people who doesn't signal when turning...and I HATE those people. It's time to fix it, but with the economy the way it is these days, I have to do it on the cheap. And that means I've got to do it myself. I know enough about trucks to check the bulbs and fuses first to see if they're the reason for my trouble, but they all check out OK. My next step is to go online and google the issue, and a quick change of my hazard/turn signal relay seems to be the most logical solution. Now, to find the part. First, I call the local Parts Store. They never heard of it. Then, I call the Dealer's Parts Department. They have it, but it's going to set me back $55. Ouch! As I hung up the phone, I recall passing a NAPA on my way home from work occasionally and, thinking I have nothing to lose, give them a call. Not only do they have the part, it's only $18. There IS a God! I drive up and go inside only to be greeted by a young guy with the name "Gabe" embroidered on his shirt. He asks me if I need any help and I tell him I just called about the signal relay. To my surprise, he had it waiting for me by the register, even though I never told him I was actually coming by to pick it up! Not only did he take a look at my faulty part (to make sure I was asking for the right thing), but he went on to explain that if that doesn't fix the problem, a signal switch is in stock and even went on to explain about how to install it properly. Now to me, that's service! Luckily for me, the relay WAS the issue and I'll be proudly using my blinkers with every new turn I make. There's a real sense of accomplishment that comes from doing something yourself, and small auto repairs are no exception. If your car or truck is giving you some trouble, why not try fixing it yourself first? It's a great way to save money and if you go see my buddy Gabe at NAPA, he'll help make your experience easier on you AND on your pocketbook, too!
