The inventory here was AMAZING! Add to that a very kind and knowledgeable staff and you bey we will be back!

Betsy's old location.

I think I walked past this place a hundred times without stopping. Then I noticed a sign in their window advertising knitting classes, and I decided to check it out. The front room of Betsy's is mostly dedicated to tea. They have a huge selection of loose and bagged teas. You can buy single bags of many of the teas if you want to try them before committing to a bigger box, and you can buy as little as an ounce of the loose teas. The staff is extremely helpful, and they always throw in a little something extra for me to try. The back room of Betsy's is full of yarn and knitting/crocheting supplies. There are tons of varieties of yarn and long tables where the classes are held. This is one of the coolest places in Lockport. Check it out if you're in the area.

I recently pulled out the tea I bought here four months ago and checked the "best by" date. It's May 2013. Not cool.

Thimbles Quilts - Adding the appliqué layer to my project for the class I took.

I've been traveling down to Thimbles for a few years now. Had machines cleaned and meeting up with…read morea friend in the past (we enable each other.) But today I took an actual class on machine embroidery and had a blast. I learned so much and learned how to do things correctly. Being self taught isn't always the best. My intention was to save up more money for a sewing only Babylock machine. But they had a trade in embroidery and sewing machine for the exact same price as the new machine. After some testing of the machine and negotiations with the husband the Adventura II came home with me. For the class I used a Babylock Aria that had ALL the bells and whistles. Thank you so much Thimbles! I will be back for more classes (and machines but don't tell my husband).

I thought I'd reviewed Thimbles!…read more If you're into sewing, embroidery or especially quilting this is the store for you. It's large, attractive and laid out nicely. They have good quality fabrics and especially good quality thread. They repair sewing machines, so when the old 1960s Kenmore machine I bought needed a cleaning and adjustment I brought it in. It was returned cleaned, oiled and with a new correct needle. I also purchased a set of needles for different things. I mostly just mend clothing, but I have a periodic older visitor who uses the machine for her quilting projects, so I wanted it to be in top shape. In addition they sell very high quality machines that are borderline commercial systems you can program to do all kinds of fancy projects. Service here is very friendly. They also have classes!

My first thought when I walked through their front doors? "Man, you can land a plane in here!"…read more Funny thing is, it's true! Sure, it'd have to be a small plane, but this place is so big that you're bound to find *something* in here that interests you, even if you're not there to buy anything specific. I usually am, though. Being something of an artist myself, I am always looking for the most inexpensive places to buy my materials since the term "starving artist" really tends to ring true, especially these days. Over the years, I've come to find that Hobby Lobby almost always has the best prices around (and if you watch their weekly ads, 50% off regular prices are an added bonus). In a store as large as this one, I'm almost guaranteed to be able to find what I'm looking for, too. I can't speak for all crafters or artists, but for my drawing/painting needs, Hobby Lobby is always the first place I go...and thankfully, since they normally have what I need in stock, it's the last place, too.

I was looking to hand make gifts for a birthday idea with my wife and this place had a great deal of most stuff some of the items like hats and caps are cheaply made so be careful washing it. Tons of great ideas if you're into putting pictures throughout your entire house and there is an endless amount of decor no matter what time of the season because it could be Halloween and Christmas inside at all times. Staff here was pretty friendly, the store is located in a busy strip mall with many things going on so be wary of traffic. Overall the store was pretty modern and has a lot of eye-catching things. Overall I thought was a decent story to check out and visit.

Wow! That's all I could think when I got a text message from the automotive department that my…read morevehicle was ready. Just a little story. I recently took one of my vehicles to a different Walmart and it was an absolutely horrible experience. The appointment I had was for 7:00am and to make a long story short they did not return my vehicle until almost 10:00am. All they had to do was replace 1 tire. 1 TIRE! Needless to say, I will never return to that location for automotive service. Anyway, my experience here was like night and day. I ordered 4 replacement tires for my other vehicle a couple of days ago and my appointment for installation was this morning at 10:00am. I actually arrived somewhat early and the gentleman at the service desk checked me in at around 9:50am. He told me that it would take approximately 60 minutes to complete the changing of all 4 tires which I thought was rather fast. I walked around the store and all of a sudden I received a text message from the Walmart Automotive Department stating that my vehicle was ready for pickup. WHAT? Not possible, it's 10:06am at this time! I had to go back there and see if it was a mistake. I walked to the back of the store to where automotive is to see what was going on. Sure enough, my car is sitting in a different location in the parking lot wearing 4 new and beautiful tires. I was just in disbelief how fast they were, I mean thst was 16 minutes from the time they checked me in to the time they text me that the car was done. I jokingly asked them if they had a NASCAR pit crew working back there. I usually don't ask to speak with the store manager unless something has gone seriously wrong and even then I really hate doing so. However this time I asked to speak with the manager because I simply wanted to take a minute to acknowledge his team members at the automotive department and their excellent customer service and very expedient service on my vehicle. So thank you DeRell and all the team members that did such a great job of getting me in and out of the store in record time. The next time I need replacement tires, I'm definitely heading to the Walmart Super Center in Lockport, Illinois.
