Pollo Campero expanding with this very spacious bright location…read more It's all about the chicken and being able to select your Crispy deliciously seasoned Breast, Drums, Thighs. Can't compare this with fast food locations like Popeyes, but can draw similarities to say an old school Boston Market that no longer really exists on L.I. You get an option of a side or a few but more homey to the Latin cultural roots of this chain. Therefore instead of ordering say mashed potatoes you can order Yuca Fries :) which are a healthier version believe or not, with just a slightly starcher root vegetable texture. On this outing to try the new location we opted for the 2 piece Drum Thigh with one side (slaw) drink and dinner roll, and added two Breasts and the Yuca Fries. All were made hot and fresh and served to our table by a friendly counter server, family style in large festive plate (w/side plates, disposable utensils). The flavorful chicken was great, yuca fries yummy and the slaw was definitely worth trying since their recipe tastes different than others. Pricing was more than fair for what we ordered, and I would consider definitely going back to try more of their menu items, as well as recommending others to give them a try. If you're not in this area to give them a try, I believe you can spot them at Penn Station. ;)

The meal includes 8 pieces of leg and thigh, 4 rolls, and 2 sides--we chose yucca fries and mac & cheese. I had takeout from a previous Yelp event, so I didn't expect dine-in service, but they gave us a table number and brought the food out to us. They also provided melamine plates, which was a nice surprise and made the meal feel more dine-in than fast-casual. When I the staff member about takeout containers, she misunderstood and immediately brought them over with a bag--honestly, super helpful. Service was outstanding. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy and full of flavor. My son loved the yucca fries and rolls. I especially enjoyed the mac & cheese and chicken. We also tried the jamaica and horchata drinks (not included in the meal), and both were excellent. I wish I had a Pollo Campero near me--but maybe it's for the best, or I'd be here all the time!

A nice hidden gem after Long Beach or Jones Beach, not far off the Meadowbrook Parkway. I believe the MTA bus to the LIRR drives past here. Everything is made to order and super fresh, I've only had the Pupusas here but I'm fine with that. They have other Salvadorian & Central American entrées, soups, and desserts here. Horchata is on point. The pickled cabbage for the topping of the Pupusas has a tiny kick to it, the tomato sauce has fresh oregano bits. Now onto the Pupusas, even if you don't eat pork- get the pork ones! The ground/shredded pork is seasoned well with spices & herbs (oregano? chiplin maybe?) & patties are grilled nicely. My other choice would be the Cheese & Chiplin (a tasty cilantro-like herb). Delish! Cheese has been missing this herb- why is this herb not in all cuisines?? They have a mixed pupusa (pork, cheese, beans) but I prefer just plain single flavor ones for the full flavor effect. Be generous with the tomato sauce & cabbage! It's a layered taste explosion. Excellent pricing & portions. I've had solo and nice group dinners here. Two large rooms, little ladies rolling Pupusas in the middle kitchen area. Average wait time, as things are made fresh! To-go orders pack a lot of cabbage & tomato sauce in sandwich baggies for you- so family style. A parking lot across the street. I'll be back soon! FYI- Pupusas are not gluten free, but there's lots of rice & yucca with entrees.

I had the chicken Francese which was a little salty but overall good! My son and husband got pupusas, that were delicious!! The waiter was excellent and food came out fast. We will be back.
