    Veggie Arepa

My friend and I went here for dinner right before going to a concert at Mulcahy's next door. When we walked in, the owner greeted us immediately and asked if we were ordering to go or for here. We said for here & he said we could pick our table. Food: I ordered a vegetarian arepa, and it was delicious. It was the perfect size for me. My friend ordered the patacone, and she was very satisfied. It isn't on the menu, as the owner said it was a misprint, but there is a picture of it on the menu to order. Service: The owner was super sweet when we were there. He came over and explained the menu to us. He told my friend about the patacone, and my friend had to order it. He was very friendly and very grateful we stopped by before the concert. TL;DR - delicious Venezuelan arepas & more with friendly service!

    So many good choices!

The food is so yummy here. I tried the arepa bowl with pernil. I loved every bite. I also got a Venezuelan soda which went perfectly with the meal. The staff was personable and helpful in walking me through the menu. I will definitely return.

    Patacones. Very filling

Great Venezulean spot in Wantagh! We came here to try some arepas and other food items on the menu. The food was DELICIOUS and we were really pleased with our choices. This place is really clean with the option of dining in. The owner was extremely friendly, accommodating, and efficient. I strongly recommend this place and suggest you give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

I work down the block and was looking for something fast and delicious, but homemade. So happy I came in here! They were super friendly and the place was very quaint and inviting. I ordered a pernil arepa and it was ready very fast. It was absolutely delicious! At first, I thought maybe I should have ordered one with cheese or other fillings, but the pernil alone was so damn flavorful it didn't need anything! I'm looking forward to sharing this place with my coworkers and ordering more in the future.

Hidden gem! I came here for the first time last week and was excited to try this location as arepas…read moreare evidently their specialty. I ordered one of their signature arepas: The Joint and it was great. It was juicy, packed with a good amount of food and was a nice combination of flavors. As a plantain enthusiast this was the perfect arepa for me. 1 arepa would be filling for the average person. My boyfriend ordered the El Poco Loco for us to split which I wasn't too crazy about - it reminded me of a crispy chicken sandwich and I didn't care for the sauce on this. I didn't bother to eat this after the first bite. Additionally I got to try the tres leches and this was better than I expected. I'm always hesitant to try tres leches because there are so many ways to prepare it. This way was more classic and simple with just the cake and the 3 milks at the bottom. It came served in a square dessert cup. It felt a little small for the price but the taste was worth it. My only constructive feedback for the cake is that the cake would be even better if it was a little less dry as far as texture but that can be hard to balance as you don't want the cake to become too wet over time due to it soaking in the milk. I can't wait to revisit: I'll be getting the tres leches again and would love to try the El Guey.

As a trial I ordered the minis and got one of each. The bread is light and fluffy and the meats sufficient with nothing special about the cheese. They come with different dips of 3. Id say by the color, hot sauce, russian dressing and maybe green guacamole. Also on the menu and purchased was noted sweet plaintains. They were well cooked and just ok for the sweetness. Now the Empanada of ham and cheese was perfectly cooked and fresh. They have a variety of specialty drinks and of course bottled water. (see pix) Their food is Columbian and or Venezuelan and was made fresh. They do not have desserts of which there is an icecream place in their shopping strip and a deli, the later having various puddings for sale.

We were not starving, but needed a little something, so we yordered a beef empanada, a cheese empanada, and a Reina Pepeada - which was *more* than enough for the two of us -- but reheated perfectly in our air fryer the next day for a second meal. (In full fairness, we do not eat tons at a time, but even their appetizers are very plentiful.) It is a lovely place and while we cannot regularly afford it, it is definitely on our special date night list and somewhere we consider special to our relationship -- especially as, he is Mexican and Irish and I am Irish/Welsh and Syrian, so we were asking about the food and what we might like, and two different staff members were happy to recommend -- and also keep in mind I am allergic to seafood. Muy bueno.

I also did the shredded beef and plantain and beans grilled. Steak and cheese arepa was the star, so crispy, juicy steak, cheese seared. I could eat it dinner every time. The other arepa was decent, it just had the mistake of going second, shredded beef felt slightly dry. It was al little pricier than expected, the steak was 14 and the shredded beef was 11. Will be back to try other dishes!

The good : Overall food was good, we ordered empanadas (shrimp and beef ) they tasted really good with the accompanied chimichurri sauce . We got our boys skirt steaks with fries and my wife and I had to half chickens and pernil respectively . Their mojitos are really good but unfortunately, they didn't have lemonade (soda ) so we ended up paying. $6 each for kid sized house made lemonade which was kinda a waste as my older didn't like it and I didn't want to bother sending it back . The bad: I am taking off a star because we had to wait a long time to get our check. I had asked for the check and a doggy bag, but had to flag my waiter down again to remind him to bring my check. Apparently the kids eat free special has to be approved by a manager . It felt like we waited 15-20 minutes till we got our check , by that time my kids were extremely irritated and my wife was pissed off. I know it's not the waiters fault but the restaurant wasn't that busy and I can't see why they couldn't have gotten this taken care of earlier . Sadly because of this incident, my wife does not want to come back here anymore knowing it takes forever to check out .
