Robert Yick Company isn't an household name. but anyone in the chinese restaurant in the 1960's knew of them. they were assemblers and manufacturers of kitchens, equipments and anything kitchen related.
my grandfather, i, and my father went to their warehouse many times to check out "floor models". The location is still there today (near bew mo, burger king) of course, their salemen often came to our restaurants to finalize sales and make sure any equipment ordered would be functional when it arrived.
Robert Yick was a pioneer in chinese restaurant design. maybe he wasn't the cheapest but he had a solid reputation for honest, qualtiy work. Some others in the indurstry were known for shoddy work or for not doing any work at all after receiving the monies. not Robert Yick....
robert yick's website illustrate how they have gone mainstream and now does design work for all kinds of restaurants, bakeries, markets, home kitchens, etc. some clients:
-slanted door
-anchor & hope
-la boulange
-burma superstar
-mayfower, millbrae.
if anyone wants ot open a restuarant and want good, competent, kithchen designers with a long history of integrity, i would highly recommend Robert Yick Co. read more
