I am new in town and had a very good haircut from one of two stylists recommended by my hometown Aveda stylist. I had an appointment for a cut next week, and called to see about changing the time. I learned only then that the stylist who cut my hair a month ago has left, and so has the other stylist who was recommended. Both were very experienced and had been at this salon for some time, which is why my hometown stylist recommended them. I will not go back to this salon - I had no notice that the stylist I selected and was happy with had left. I went in for my first haircut at Robert Markley today with Nikki. She did an amazing job! The amenities were super relaxing; oil scalp massage, hand massage, and makeup touch up. I was recommended to this salon by a friend and I made an appointment for a barber haircut with Askary. When you first walk in, you notice that the environment in the salon is very clean and welcoming, and the staff is extremely friendly. Askary gave me the best haircut of my life, he took his time and made me feel at home with his craftsmanship. This place is good if you like thin eyebrows. It's $20 for an eyebrow wax.I asked for full eyebrows and now they are pencil thin with no arch so now I have to start at the beginning again and regrow them. Also they don't put on concealer to hide the redness so I had to walk around with red eyebrows. The salon is really nice inside and I might go back to try the salon for a haircut but i will not be back for an eyebrow wax. This place was a big disappointment. I had hip-length curly hair and asked for 2" off and a touch up on my partial highlights. Alex took almost 6" off in a very uneven cut and made chunky highlights. My husband tried him later in the week and he got an uneven buzz cut. We both had to get our cuts corrected and chose to go to a different salon so that we wouldn't risk more mistakes. I've heard other stylists might be better with long hair, but I probably won't be going back. read more

I chose this salon based on YELP reviews. The service was fine, but I am not sure I will return to the salon. I was really annoyed by the loud, stupid music that was playing. If you play music that is not just background noise then please keep the volume down. Nothing extraordinary about my experience otherwise. Moved to Tucson from NJ and was looking for a good salon with good, precision stylists- I have short hair and go every 4 wks - Markley salon was recommended by a friend. I have had 2 cuts by Nobie and I love her! !! She is not just beautiful, she cuts like the Johnny Depp character Edward Scissorhands!!The salon carries Aveda products, which are top notch. The salon is wonderful! Clean, relaxing and filled with the nicest, most efficient people! Robert, the owner is classy and soft spoken. Can't say enough about this place except GO and experience all the services. Also look for David who is absolutely the most gorgeous man I have ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on!!!! I was very thorough in describing to Mary jo what I wanted in a hair cut and color, I showed pictures and repeatedly explained what I wanted. It seemed like she had something or some type of hair cut and color she does for everyone and completely disregarded what I requested. Several times she left me hanging and went outside to smoke. I know this because she came back smelling of cigarettes. And I'm not just talking when I was processing color, but in the middle of a shampoo where the conditioner was to "set for three minutes" (which actually was about 10 minutes of sitting and waiting with my head in the shampoo bowl) she also talked badly about experienced stylists who had been with the salon for some time but left without notice recently. I think I know why. The receptionist had a bunch of her friends hanging out and they were laughing and being so loud and unprofessional. 200 dollars and feeling terrible about myself, now. I will never ever go back. I'm going to a different salon to get it fixed tomorrow. read more

I agree with the other reviewer Katie on this one. They don't even deserve one star. It's pretty funny looking back on their site. I guess posting pictures of models likely taken randomly off of the internet, and multiple photos of the staircase is supposed to make them look sophisticated and edgy. Don't fall for it. The girl working behind the desk when I walked in was snotty, her nose in the air, unable to smile back politely and welcome paying customers. The salon itself was dingy at best. The lighting was awful, I suppose so you are unable to see the awful job the stylist is actually doing on your hair. The cabinets are chipped and peeling, and the overall vibe is well, nonexistent. Now onto my hair. Looking back, I'm not sure if Mary Jo is even a legitimate hairstylist, since I don't remember seeing her license anywhere. I'm always extremely careful who I go to for services, but I guess all of the positive reviews on here fooled me. My appointment was for a caramel balayage, and I showed her multiple photos of exactly what I wanted. I've had it done before by my usual stylist at another salon, and it came out beautifully. Unfortunately she was booked for a few weeks out, so I ended up here. I asked Mary Jo if she has done a lot of balayage, and she confidently answered yes, she's done different types on many customers. That put me at ease for about 5 seconds, until she started roughly brushing my hair in between looking at her cell phone at her text messages, which she discussed with me. She quickly pinned my hair here and there, before disappearing to mix the coloring. I watched her grab random parts of my hair and quickly paint them and wrap them in foil. She then disappeared again without leaving me a timer. Fast forward to the end result. Looking at my hair as she was blow drying it, (I'm a brunette), I was unable to see the gentle mix of colors and highlights. She assured me that my hair would continue to lighten over the next day. When I arrived home that afternoon and looked in my fully lighted bathroom mirror, I was mortified. My hair looked like a bad highlighting job from the 80's. My hair still looks dark, but with streaks of rust colored stripes running from my scalp down my hair. My hair was actually quite healthy since I haven't colored it in over a year, and don't ever blow dry it or use more than hair spray on it. Now it looks and feels dry. Awful can't begin to describe it. My husband and I were leaving the next morning for the holiday weekend, so I was unable to get back there for a refund. I've been feeling extremely self-conscious and embarrassed. It's so bad, even the teenage boys I work with commented on it. They agreed the stylist had no idea what she was doing. The next day the salon emailed me a survey asking about my service. I answered it, sharing my unhappy experience. Interestingly, I never received a response from them. One would think that if a business is going to take the time to send out surveys, they might actually read them and try to reach out to the unhappy customer to see what they can do. This just confirmed that this place is completely unprofessional, and probably just allows random people to rent space in their salon. I will be leaving additional negative reviews online and in person to be sure other people are aware of what a sham this place is. I will be returning to my usual stylist so she can fix the mess Mary Jo made. read more

I just want to say that the folks at this salon treat you like royalty! They are courteous and welcoming. David ran out to two nearby stores to find a newspaper for my husband to read while he waited for me. Nobie, who cut my hair, is extremely professional. She has the talent to look over your type of hair and face, as well as just the kind of person you are... and the skill to bring off a haircut that makes you really proud to walk out of there. Katie has been doing my hair for several years now. I have never had a bad cut, she has always gone far above my expectations. I have found her to always be on time for my appointments, and have never felt she is rushing to finish once I sat down. Because of the quality of the cut I only spend a minute or two each day on my hair. Even with this I receive complements weekly on my hair.
