Pure-Mettle - Hair Salons Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

After a disappointing experience with another salon that resulted in essentially a bad bowl cut, my teenage son and I found Pure-Mettle. We were both impressed with the team dynamic in this exceptionally clean and comfortable space. They tackled his challenging head of hair and invited feedback from one another to work with his unique combination of pin straight, cowlicked, very thick and uncooperative hair until it was finally balanced out. read more

After moving and struggling to find a new salon, I was very pleased to stumble across Pure Mettle. Kayla does an exceptional job and she is very outgoing and easy to talk to making it a pleasant experience every time. The salon is kept extremely clean and I like the industrial kind of look to it. Definitely check this place out and give it a shot if you're looking for a new stylist! read more

Absolutely beautiful and clean space. Vibes of everyone working there are friendly and welcoming. I see Maria for routine cuts and she kills it every time. Her attention to detail is insane & she is so thorough. She is talented, kind, respectful and overall so beautiful inside and out! My cousin introduced me to her who always has the cutest hair so I have been going to her now for years, as well as my boyfriend and his friends who also started seeing her because she can adapt to any style and hair type. She is that amazing! Highly recommend pure-mettle! read more

How have I not written a review for Michael and crew?! Michael is a consummate professional, top-notch stylist and one of my favorite people on the planet. He's deeply caring about his customers and his employees. I regularly see him gently coaching and guiding the less-experienced staff while keeping everything humming. I love his haircuts, and people I've referred say the same. I've sent as many people here as I can manage and will continue to do so. I love the salon -- it's very calm but not stodgy or dead. (And if you're early get a coffee or beer next door at Screwbean -- they also rule.) Dudebros! You should go here! There's a specific emphasis on helping dudes relax during the appointment involving hot towels! read more

First time at a professional salon so I was a little apprehensive. The salon had a contemporary vibe but with some old-world charm and decor. The hairstylist, Isabella, understood my nervousness and listen closely to my wishes for a haircut. It was a unique experience, and, in the end, I was very happy with my new styled haircut. I will be back. PS, music choice is excellent. read more

latest barbers are sh*t, up charging everything and fake nice to customers. Kinda Decent haircut for price. Loved it a few years ago. Good feel and cool interior. read more

This was my first time coming in. The owner offered me coffee and water which I thought was really sweet. My stylist was running a little behind so I asked how long it would be since I had to get to work in a couple hours. Another stylist offered to wash my hair which I was impressed with. Madison did a great job and I love the layering and face framing she did. She was also careful with my cartilage piercing which usually gets snagged when combing hair. I would recommend! read more

Great little hair cut place I took my son to. He is under two years old and asslyin (spelling ?) was great with him. We got to meet the owner as well who was very down to earth and so friendly. My son's haircut came out well considering he was scared and a bit fidgety. I'll come back here for possibly my hair cut as well. read more

One of the things I enjoy least about moving is having to find a new hair stylist. When I starting my search, I was really impressed by the reviews for Pure Mettle, so I had to give it a try. When you set up your first appointment with someone at Pure Mettle you go through an extensive hair survey. It was the first time I had ever been asked to provide that kind of information, and I was interested to see what difference it made in the process. Lance at the front desk is awesome: he is professional, kind, and always makes me laugh at least once a visit. All of my appointments have been with Rachel, who has worked wonders with my hair. (I don't know if the results of the hair survey played a role or not, but I don't care.) She's fun to talk to and is a fabulous person to boot. My hair looks great and sitting down with Rachel is such a treat. I'd highly recommend Rachel and the Pure Mettle team to anyone looking for a great haircut. read more

My first time going here and it was great I will be coming back. Awesome place with awesome people and they know what they are doing.

I had an excellent experience at Pure Mettle. The studio atmosphere is elegant and relaxed. The space is well maintained, and the staff is welcoming and professional. Karen, the receptionist, accommodated a same-day appointment for my daughter's back-to-school haircut and greeted us with a smile before introducing us to Melanie. Melanie is a genuine, approachable, and thoughtful stylist. She was able to make my young daughter feel comfortable with the process and worked with us both to ensure that her haircut expressed her identity while still being manageable. Melanie, Karen, and the rest of the staff represented the salon very well and helped my daughter walk into her first day of school feeling confident and happy. read more

First time at Pure Mettle and although I was a bit apprehensive initially I can't say enough good things about my whole experience. When I entered the "speak easy" doors I was greeted with smiles and warm genuine hello's from everyone. Kate Mammana swooned me in, listened to me ramble about what I would like my hair to look like and then worked her magic. I even had a straight razor neck shave. Really made me feel like a million bucks. I love the atmosphere of Pure Mettle and the artistry that flows from within her walls. Thank you Kate I have already made another appointment Joe read more

Haircut was okay. Not great. Stylist didn't even section off my hair. She sort of free styled it. A "snip snip here and a snip snip there" sort of approach. She heard me and wanted to deliver on the requested style, which I appreciated, but for a layered long pixie, I would have expected to see a few hair clips, some sectioning, and maybe some attention to detail. No. Again, overall haircut is just okay because in the back the blending is poor. She offered to fix the unevenness but I declined. It would have made the hair too short and I wanted her to stop. I did ask her to clean up the uneven hairs along the nape of my neck but that's it. It needed to be over with. I specifically asked for a experienced stylist. Day of haircut I was switched to a different person. When I asked if she was just as experienced I was told "oh yes, she's very experienced". But I later learned this person went to school in 2020 "and then Covid hit..". So there's that. My point: If I had known that I had a new stylist, I would've canceled. Friendly. Beautiful salon. Yes. Technical skill and execution: No. Honesty about skill level from receptionist: No. read more

This place in general is amazing! Almost every employee greeted or spoke to me during my visit. This was my first time ever getting my hair professionally done and i wanted to get rid of my horrible bleached highlights and go back to my more natural blonde. RACHEL FERGUSON was my stylist and she did AMAZING! I didn't tell her much and just trusted her to do her thing; she did not disappoint! read more

Melanie is an expert at perms. My teenage son has straight hair that doesn't want to take a perm, but she was able to work her magic and it turned out to be exactly what he wanted. She is very personable and made the experience enjoyable. They also carry high quality natural products for curly hair. The salon aesthetic is a hip downtown vibe for those who appreciate this. Great pricing as well! read more

Michael is a fantastic colorist. I've lived in Tucson since 1998, and Michael is the first colorist who made my blonde look so natural. He doesn't use foil which dried out my hair. He colors my roots, and then he does low lighting and high lighting using his hands. I highly recommend Michael and his salon. read more

i really liked this place the first time i went. the woman that helped me gave me one of the best haircuts i've ever had. however, this haircut i just received has been one of my worst. although she was nice and pleasant to talk to, the haircut i wanted was not the haircut i got. i asked for a trim and was articulate about the areas of my hair that i wanted to be cut, but on top of getting a worse haircut that cost $50 ($5 more than my last haircut), i just found out that i have a patch of hair missing from the back. i've scheduled a haircut appointment to get a buzzcut so i can reset. read more

I love going to pure mettle to see Tina. A little over a year ago my skin was so bad, I had very dry skin with terrible acne and horrible acne scars. After trusting in Tina, using the products she recommended and did different face treatments, my skin looks and feels freaking amazing! Now my skin is plump, hydrated, I have no acne and all my acne scars are pretty much gone! My skin gets compliments all the time and I have never felt better about my skin. I HIGHLY recommend Tina, and if you do go and see her trust in her and what she recommends, you won't regret it! Michael and lance are freaking awesome too! read more
