I am giving four stars because my service itself and the aesthetician, Angel, were great. I had sugaring done for the first time on multiple areas. Angel explained things to me and was very kind about my nervousness. The salon is also very cute inside. I am taking off one star for the initial communication. I asked for a phone call twice and only received text messages before my appointment from whomever does the communication from the online requests. Just had an excellent bikini wax experience with Tessa. I would highly recommend Wax Werks! The aesthetician is very sweet and easy to talk with. They use hard wax rather than strips here. Unlike at the big name corporate wax centers, she took her time to make sure I was at ease with the temperate of the wax and prepared for the speed of the pulls. The ceiling has a Where's Waldo poster to help remove your focus and they openly encourage you to use your phone to distract from the pain. I just got home from my Brazilian and overall I would say 3/5 stars from me. The woman who did my service was very kind, patient and took her time. The only thing that was disappointing was him the amount of wax left on me after my appointment. As soon as I got home, I couldn't pull my underwear down because the wax stuck to me. It hurt so bad and their was tiny wax clumps everywhere. This is disappointing as I don't expect to go home with any wax still on me. I just came back from my appointment at Wax Wekrs and can't say enough good things about it. I started by using the online appointment system (nice for those of us who are a bit phone phobic) and received a response back about a slot that was open the next day. The building was easy to find and is located in a cute shopping center with ample parking. The interior is clean and very cute. Martha is nice, fun to talk to and is great at what she does. I got the Full Kitty (Brazilian) and this was the first time after receiving this procedure that I didn't feel like I needed to have a glass of wine and a lay down. It was as painless as having the hairs on your delicate parts ripped out by the roots can be. Martha also gave me some tips for dealing with ingrown hairs and provided me with a product sample to see if it would help. There was no pressure to buy products that I didn't need/want. Currently she is running a fantastic deal for first time clients but even for your second time and beyond the prices are SUPER affordable for such fantastic care. I will definitely be returning and will recommend wax werks for all of my friends. The only thing that could have made my experience any better at all would be an online availability calendar to make appointment requests easier. I've been here twice now both for a bikini wax. The first time was excellent, especially because it was my first time being waxed. I can't remember who I saw but she was very good and made me feel comfortable. However, my second experience wasn't as great. I asked for a triangle shape and was left with a lot of hairs that were not waxed. The lady who I saw this last time was also really harsh and seemed to rush through the experience. She chatted me up before the appointment and made me feel at ease. The room where she performs the wax has a french-inspired theme with comfy blankets over the waxing table. Very happy with my first experience here. The shop is comfortable and conveniently located for me. I'd been going to one of the big local salon/spas and those places always feel so huge and overwhelming with crazy activity going on between the hair and nails and whatnot. I like the small, intimate feel here. The appointment was easy to make - filled out a form online, got an email back, texted her to confirm. I always prefer email or text over phone calls. I filled out the form on Sunday night, got a response on Monday, and was in the shop early Tuesday. Glad to be fit into the schedule that quickly. I don't want to sound mean, but someone has to say it. I have been getting full brazilians for years, and recently moved and tried this place. I read reviews, shop looked decent and price was reasonable. The first time I went I had Martha. It was almost painless, I was impressed. Until about 2 days later when hair was growing back. So I called and she had me come back after 2 weeks for a follow up. It was a different girl this time. She did the wax and within a few days I was broken out with red bumps and (I am not exaggerating) at least 35-40 in grown hairs. All over my inner thighs, butt, ever where! It was horrible. They clearly don't use the right wax/temperature or something. But omg! I will never go back. It has caused me so much pain and irritation and a lot of effort to fix the mess down there. read more

I am new to Tucson and had been having trouble finding a new wax place. I am picky too. If an esthetician ever comments on me waiting too much time in between waxes or will not clip hairs when they are too long to wax, I use that as grounds not to go back to that person again. I mean getting a brazilian is intense! You are sharing a very private part of yourself with a stranger, so bedside manner is just as important as technique. Eyebrows are also very nerve racking. Wax too much and brows may never come back the same. I fear thin brows! I called Wax Werks in the early afternoon Friday. Martha was able to book me right away. She gave me easy directions to get to her business. Martha greeted me with a bottle of water (which was great because I still forget to bring fluids w/ me everywhere) and a friendly smile. We started with my eyebrow wax and I couldn't be happier. Martha was very conservative when it came to brows, which was a huge relief. She as willing to take off more if I wanted, but I couldn't imagine tainting the beautiful job she did. She quickly removed hair from my upper lip and under arms after wards. She gave me a great brazilian wax that was barely painful. She shaped it just the way I wanted and made sure every place was waxed to make a proper brazilian. When she was done, everything was clean. She did just as good of a job as a famous wax salon I liked to go to in the upper west side of Manhattan. I happily pre booked my next appointment. She considerately asked me if I texted so that she could text me a reminder instead of call. I prefer text to phone and was happy that she offered that as an option. Most importantly, I was happy to find my new waxing place! Aside from her blowing my brazilian wax from Gadabout out of the water, her price list is more than reasonable and cannot be beat.
