I am new to Tucson and had been having trouble finding a new wax place. I am picky too. If an esthetician ever comments on me waiting too much time in between waxes or will not clip hairs when they are too long to wax, I use that as grounds not to go back to that person again. I mean getting a brazilian is intense! You are sharing a very private part of yourself with a stranger, so bedside manner is just as important as technique. Eyebrows are also very nerve racking. Wax too much and brows may never come back the same. I fear thin brows! I called Wax Werks in the early afternoon Friday. Martha was able to book me right away. She gave me easy directions to get to her business. Martha greeted me with a bottle of water (which was great because I still forget to bring fluids w/ me everywhere) and a friendly smile. We started with my eyebrow wax and I couldn't be happier. Martha was very conservative when it came to brows, which was a huge relief. She as willing to take off more if I wanted, but I couldn't imagine tainting the beautiful job she did. She quickly removed hair from my upper lip and under arms after wards. She gave me a great brazilian wax that was barely painful. She shaped it just the way I wanted and made sure every place was waxed to make a proper brazilian. When she was done, everything was clean. She did just as good of a job as a famous wax salon I liked to go to in the upper west side of Manhattan. I happily pre booked my next appointment. She considerately asked me if I texted so that she could text me a reminder instead of call. I prefer text to phone and was happy that she offered that as an option. Most importantly, I was happy to find my new waxing place! Aside from her blowing my brazilian wax from Gadabout out of the water, her price list is more than reasonable and cannot be beat. I have had two different people wax my eyebrows here several times and both are great. They really take their time and make sure to not miss any stray hairs. I am the type of person who gets all of my hair/beauty appointments taken care of through groupon or other discount sites, but tried this place out because I was in a hurry one time and will not go anywhere else anymore. The cost is more than I usually spend but reasonable and worth it ($17). I actually can go longer in between waxing without my brows getting out of control than I could at other places. This place is wonderful! After reading the reviews, I made an appointment to have my eyebrows done. I was thoroughly impressed! Hannah did a wonderful job and spent so much time perfecting my brows. I have very sensitive skin and the process did not hurt a bit or leave any sign of irritation. This is the best waxing place ever!! The environment is so inviting and Hannah was so welcoming. Bummer. I wanted this to be great but left with a huge piece of wax to deal with post bikini. Might as well wax myself? Also - the wax job is asymmetrical. I was concerned because the ratings were low and it didn't seem like the people working there had much interest in their business. Just not very friendly really. I won't be returning. RoseMarie and Hannah were very friendly when I walked in. It's a modest little wax salon that made me feel very comfortable. RoseMarie was very fast and getting my ingrowns was not nearly as painful as I expected. I just moved to Tucson about a month ago and was nervous I could not find a suitable waxing salon compared to my hometown. I got and appointment and came there to wax my buttocks area. The first thing that I noticed when I arrived was that the room and the place didn't seem quite clean and tidy which was kinda a red flag. Anyway, Katie came and asked me to remove my clothes and put them on top of a box in the room because there was no other place to put them! After that, she started waxing which felt kinda rushed. Anyway, I paid 45 dollars for that and I went home. Then I noticed that some parts of the area is not waxed. I was upset as I dedicated my time to take a shower and drive there and do the waxing. So I called them and spoke with the owner and here is what she said. She told me 45 dollars is not much and we only do the cheeks with that and you're supposed to pay more for waxing the area between the cheeks and the anus. That's dishonest and ugly. At the very least, they could have let me know that I need to pay more. But I actually have done waxing the whole area for 30 dollars in another studio before. So that's too much in my opinion. Came here and would have preferred someone that had more experience. Have had several waxings prior and know that it is not the wax, but the technician that is at fault. Too many hairs broken and red patches that lasted days. Too feminine decor as well. read more

I was referred by a coworker to wax werks and read several positive reviews about their customer service Hannah answered the phone call when i called at 1pm and was able to get me in at 3:30 due to a cancelation. I was SO nervous to get a Brazilian wax, but Vanessa did an awesome job. She didn't try and make it seem like it was no big deal. She told me what to expect, answered my questions and walked me through everything! She told me how much one area would hurt compared to another, I can't say enough about how great the experience was. I honestly don't understand the bad reviews on here. read more

I've been going here for a couple of years and love it. Martha is very nice and sweet and I have yet to have an issue with any of the other girls work. It's a comfortable atmosphere for a guy and nothing but good conversations. I use to go all the way to european wax and always felt kind of weird, plus the price wasn't worth it. the first time i went Michelle did a great job on my brows. The second time not so much! First of all she burned my eye lid! She waxed the same area twice and then took off the inner area of my left brow!! which the 1st time I went told her not to do that! So, before she ripped off the second one she tried to say they were even!!! ugh, NO I don't think so!! So to make them LOOK even she had take off the other side after I had to say something!!! I just went to Wax Werks a few days ago and it was the best experience yet! I'd been there before and have always had amazing results! Michelle is always effecient and has wonderful bed-side manner! What's more is that I did not have time to drop my dog off at day care before I went to my appointment and they were SO accomodating! I love the shabby chic décor almost as much as I love Hannah. I came here before, during, and now after my pregnancy and at my last appointment she didn't judge my request to keep somewhat of a horizontal landing strip in order to avoid waxing over my c-section scar (TMI, anyone?). She even encouraged me to bring my newborn along so she could meet him whereas I feel most salons would have been annoyed. Today I completed my second waxing with Martha. I have gotten my legs waxed and a men's version of a Brazilian completed. I must say it was pretty painful at first but once it was all said and done, the finished product was awesome. I've never felt more confident about the way I look and feel. I went to wax werks monthly for my face wax. I was always nervous doing a face wax and I had bad experiences in other salons. Wax werks uses a different type of hard wax that works very well on the face. My skin would glow and never peel afterwards. I loved this place. Unfortunately I had to move :( read more

They use hard wax, which is so much less painful and all-around more comfortable than that soft sticky stuff that most places use. Martha always does her best to fit me in when things are busy.
