I was very disappointed in the Columbus Avenue Store. I have been a loyal customer for many years. I ordered, just over two weeks ago, a pair of reading glasses. They said they would be ready in 10 business days. Not hearing from them, I made a trip to the store today, two weeks later (I have just come out at 5.45pm on Nov 14th). I am told that the glasses are not ready due to a problem with the lens (a simple reading lens of 2.50 magnification). When I asked why they did not inform me so that I would not waste a trip, I was told that they do not do that (notwithstanding they had both my cell number and my prepaid money.) So there are no procedures to tell the customer that the glasses would not be ready when promised. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store and yet, no attempt to reach out and let the customer know to save a wasted trip after being promised "in 10 business days). Just another store who does not care about their customers, and gives no consideration for the extremely high prices they charge. read more

Great selection, nice people, mostly good service. Have been getting glasses and lenses from this store for more than 15 years and have been impressed by how the stand by the glasses and lenses I have bought, adjusting and repairing them as needed for free. Only criticism is last pair of glasses I bought took meaningfully longer than represented to be ready. So, trade off is nice glasses and people vs things may take longer than salesperson tells you to be ready. Another pair of great glasses at Robert Marc on Columbus Ave. Now I am a princess and the pea kinda gal, and when I say they are patient and helpful, I know from experience. I think I have worked with everyone there and the tweaking, the talking, oy - what color glass case do I even want! How do they keep their cool and make it fun? They are good people that want you to be happy. And look good! I don't care how much they cost (and they are spendy), they look good. This review has nothing to do with their glasses and quality. This has to do with quality of service and professionalism. I walked in one afternoon to give a few pair of glasses (Robert Marc) that I no longer needed back to them for their donation program. There was one customer being helped and another (white, wealthy, older) couple who walked in at the same time as I. They were greeted first, taken care of first, and given the works. I let it slide because I figured someone would be right with me. Nope, there I was standing next to the counter for close to 10 minutes. There was an associate just standing right next to the associate who was helping the customer. He clearly saw me, but didn't bother to offer me assistance at all. I waited, because I wanted to see what they would do. Let me be clear. I was not looking at other glasses or preoccupied with something else. No, there I was, with my RM bag in hand, waiting next to the counter, being completely ignored. No-one spoke to me or offered assistance, until I finally spoke up and said that I wanted to donate these glasses. This was a crappy experience. I don't know what professionalism others are speaking of, but if you can't treat all of your customers the same, you're not a professional. read more

Best Eyeglass Store in NYC--Awesome Service. I buy all of my glasses from Robert Marc, they have an amazing selection and have always worked with me to help me select the perfect pair for me. Yesterday, I went in to get help with repairing an older pair I had damaged. Steaven and Natella were truly amazing. They went the extra mile (if not well beyond) to do everything necessary to fix my glasses, and were kind enough to do while I waited. Super nice and helpful, well past what was required. had progressive glasses made. They were not correct and i needed to have them remade. When i placed the order to have remade they would not allow me to keep the original glasses. I asked what they expected me to do in terms of being able to see especially at work and they said it was just their policy. I went back to work and told my colleagues and they too were outraged. As nurses we though this was clearly unethical. They also claimed that i called one week later to see if the glasses were ready, when i never called the store again based on them leaving me unable to see. Between not being truthful and their unethical policy, i would strongly advise never to go there. I had to have my prescription done elsewhere with a wonderful optician uptown and they could not have been nicer. read more

I have been been using Robert Marc Opticians (West Side location) for over 10 years and have only had great experiences. The employees (I have worked with Raoul) are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are able to suggest different frames and shapes which work for me, without having to try on dozens of different glasses. Their prescription services are also prompt and accurate (I have my glasses measured each year by my opthamologist and the prescription placed in the glasses is always right-on). Basically, I am hooked. In the past 10 years, I have never purchased glasses elsewhere, and I am planning on sticking with Robert Marc in the future. read more

The service is good and attentive but I was sold a pair that stain if any sweat gets on the frames and after a single year the lenses had to be replaced and they charged to clean the stains off the ear pieces. I have had the new lens for under a month and they are scratched after normal use. $250 a year seems a bit much. They sales staff is very helpful and are very good at steering you in the direction of a frame that fits your face well. For individuals who have a challenging prescription, this store is fantastic. I have really severe myopia which can mean 'coke bottle' lenses and where I work, appearance really counts. Also, for someone who always wears glasses - the glasses not obscure, they're smack dab right on my face! The lenses Robert Marc made for me cost alot, but look great and were truly a work of art. When another optician looked at them, they were amazed at how thin and attractive the lenses are and could not imagine how to do the same. The lenses I purchase are really expensive , but for a medical necessity with significant cosmetic implications, they are a blessing! The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is to warn people that the lenses can be expensive, but for those of us with the need - hallelujah!!!! read more

A mixed rating (5 +1) / 2 = 3). A 5 for good selection and helpful staff in selecting the right frame. A 1 for price. There are no prices on the frames. They should be priced. I usually don't buy anything that is priced. But I did. Found that I overpaid. Paid $595 for a frame I found elsewhere (later) for $425). read more

Had to have the glasses redone several times until they got prescription right and one time they filled with a frame that was defective. Also not good advisers re: size, shape, color best for customer--wound up hating what I bought and annoyed with myself for listening to their encouragement to buy something that doesn't suit my face (my bad, but still...). Bad service exacerbated by bad attitudes Have gone back to buying glasses at Leonard Opticians and Loft Opticians instead. Both are a mile or two from me but service is infinitely better and worth the trek--those opticians are far more pleasant, better advisers, and they get it right the first time. read more

The lenses they helped me find were expensive but I loved them and have gotten many compliments. The service, however, was dismal! First I asked about getting new lenses for my old frame so I would have an extra pair. The price for the new lenses was very high but I was told I could have them in an hour when I picked up my new glasses. This turned out to be untrue and I had to wait nearly 10 days to get them. I was also told they would push the old frame to make it look great - that also never happened. All in all a very irritating experience. Not a place I would uri mend. read more

I have been using Robert Marc for years and they always exceed my expectations. The salespeople are very fashion conscious and are great consultants if you're after a certain look. My prescription is a bit challenging - invisible trifocals - and the optician always does a professional job setting the foci (foci?) The cost of your specs may be a little higher at Robert Marc than at the chain stores, but, if you can afford the upgrade, you will get what you pay for. Highly recommend. read more
