That dentist said that they would recommend only one filling, that the others had weakened enamel but not to the point they recommend fillings as tooth material is better. Reading over other reviews, it seems like they have the same systematic practice across patients. For my experiences, it's at the level of questionable billing and insurance practices, but for other patients it sounds like they are making bogus claims about dental issues when second opinions suggest they don't exist. The common theme, in my opinion and shared by other reviews, is that the bottom line is "money" rather than "patient care." I have asked to talk to a dentist about the poor billing/office staff experiences and was never contacted. I've been going to Dr. Fitzpatrick through a friends recommendation. My first experience was wonderful, my second and third left little to be desired. My cleaning was canceled an hour beforehand because the hygienist called out. No problem. I get rescheduled the next day. An hour before, phone call again to cancel, I refused and told them to inconvenience someone else that I needed my appointment. After checking with the dentist, he chose to see me. The next appointment, I paid my estimated share out of pocket that was assured to me was "dead on" and if anything I would get a refund. One week later, the office sent me a notice saying I wasn't covered. After calling the office, they couldn't provide a claim number and repeated I was denied. I called my dental insurance, they never filed a claim!!! I was covered, they were just lazy. I had to call the office again and make them file the claim. One month later, I receive another bill in the mail. Finally all the claim information was finally on there, but there was a bit of an unexpected charge due to already paying. I called the office to verify I actually owed the money and it wasn't another screw up, only to be met with they didn't know. Here again I wait. Save the headache and choose another practice. Nothing is worse than the anxiety of unpaid pills and dishonest business practices. You won't be seeing a double payment out of this kid! That's why insurance companies provide eob's and allowable billed amounts.

At one point, the other male front desk staff member had to step in and offer help because he could clearly see what was happening and seemed to feel bad about the situation. I appreciated his willingness to help, but it should never have had to get to that point. I also spoke with another person who had a horrible experience with the same individual at the desk, so this clearly does not seem like an isolated issue. Patients should be able to ask questions about their charges without being spoken to in an aggressive or dismissive way. It creates a very hostile environment and reflects poorly on the entire office. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the rest of the office staff has otherwise been very good.
