I wanted to give Dr. Brill another great review today. Today my family and I went in to get our prescriptions updated as well as purchase new eyewear and thank god we did. Great customer service as always! We couldn't beat it anywhere else. Overall, Dr. Brill and Sarina are simply fantastic! We really appreciate their awesome Optometry care, a solid process in making us feel safe during the pandemic in their building, and high-quality service at its finest. They truly go above and beyond and have a superb pandemic procedure in place when you go into their building, which made us feel safe and assured. On top of this, they do temperature checks before you enter, require face mask-wearing inside at all times, and have social distancing marks on the floor while you're in the building to prevent any exposure of anything unknown. They even clean all of their eyewear for sale and basically customized the visit to your needs only. I can see that this helps reduce contact with other customers. Heck, they are setting the standard high in pandemic safety vice your average doctor's office. Go figure, right? Anyhow as for Dr. Brill, I would say he's the best and most seasoned Optometrist in the area. Along with him, his office manager, Sarina, is simply amazing and super kind and cool. Simply put, if you need to get your eyes tested, then you should seriously consider going to Dr. Brill, especially if you want quality care in Optometry. He uses state of the art tools and has an old school style to him that is lost with most Optometrists I've been to in years past. In fact, I prefer Dr. Brill's style of care vice others, as you can tell his attention to detail in his profession and skills are the utmost. In the end, this is the doctor you want to take care of your vision needs. As for the process they have in place, just follow their procedures in getting in there and you'll get the best care and quality customer service with high-quality frames all-around to choose from. Finally, they'll do the best they can do to work with your vision insurance company. If they ask you for personal details (i.e., SSN, address, age, name, insurance details, etc.), don't worry they'll safeguard the information, as they are the utmost professionals and ensure safety and security is at the highest standards for all their customers. They need this info to make sure your insurance company covers what it will cover. I wouldn't be writing this review if I didn't believe it. Been going here for a while now. I trust them with such information. We will continue to go to Dr. Brill year after year as long as he's in Studio City. Thank you again Dr. Brill for a great visit. You rock as always Sir! He referred to his staff as "the help" on the phone. Wow. In terms of getting a prescription and eye exam, pretty straightforward. So functionally if you need one, fine. But if you need to fill your prescription glasses, beware. Go to Costco instead. Getting glasses, somehow required about 5 visits. They tried to upsell me on this extra layer on the glasses lens to aid in close reading, but it made the lens 50% thicker than any of my prior glasses. (I've worn glasses my whole life.) Then I received numerous excuses on various issues: 1. "It's not that thick. New nosepads will fix it." (Dismissive response #1) 2. After getting indentations on my nose bridge and having to come back again, "We didn't know it would be so much thicker." (They probably fill thousands of prescriptions, how could they not know?) 3. "*Your* choice of frame makes it thicker." (Head scratcher this one, since the prescription itself is what drives the thickness and refraction of the lens. Basic physics. Not the shape of the frame. So now they are blaming the patient?) 4. "There aren't any scratches on the frame." "Oh yes I see, we'll order new ones." "The scratches on the frame are barely visible, but we ordered them anyway." (Strangely inconsistent and flipflopping) I don't understand giving a patient a hard time when all they want is a pair of normal glasses of normal thickness that have not been scratched up. How hard is that? After my 5th visit, I did get audibly upset, and I shouldn't have. I was reasonable for the first 4 visits, but after that, it gets ridiculous. read more

It was this time last year when I decided to try a new optometrist. In two days, I would be leaving for Ireland. I should have known how the visit would go when the girl at the desk broke my glasses while cleaning them. She was very apologetic, but the Dr. was a bit of a derrière. When I explained that I was leaving for Ireland in two days and needed a pair of glasses, he said,"Well, if you knew you were going on vacation, shouldn't you have booked your eye appointment earlier?" How was I to know they would *break* my glasses?!? I continued with my examination. They took my old lenses and put them into some similar frames and sold those frames to me for a discount. The lenses didn't fit, exactly, but you can probably tell from my haphazard writing that I'm probably not the kind of girl who is well put together anyway. Initially, I was all excited for my eye appointment because I was determined to buy some fashion eyewear that would be ready for me after my vacation and I would go back to work in style. So I picked out a lovely purple pair of Jai Kudo eye glasses-naturally, my insurance covered very little of the frame cost and I spent a couple hundred dollars. I have never bought expensive glasses and I was stoked to do it. The one problem, they were a little big for me. "No worries," siad the salesgirl who broke my first pair of glasses. "We have a machine that will make them fit you." So on good faith, I ordered and paid for the glasses. As it turns out, the machine did very little to correct the size inequality. So now I have a beautiful pair of Jai Kudo glasses that are too big and continuously slip down my nose, and a cheap pair where the lenses do not fit the frames. Why am I writing about this a year after the fact? I just got my card in the mail reminding me of my annual check-up. As the horrible memories come rushing back, I decided to yelp my experience and pray that people will read it. I honestly thought that if you spent a couple hundred dollars in an eye glass shop-that they would do whatever it takes to take care of you. My mistake. read more

I've been going to Dr. Brill for over ten years. He gave a terrific referral for lasek and handled my followup care. He is a wonderful optometrist, very knowledgeable and kind. Everyone in the office is friendly and organized. I've never had to wait for an appointment. read more

Their selection is great, I'll give them that, that's where it ends. I was trying on glasses when Dr. Brill, EXTREMELY rude, grabbed my glasses and rushed in the back saying 'I'll check these' even though I never asked him too. I was so shocked, I didn't say anything and brewed until he came back, then he prompted the receptionist to 'take my lenses out and she began twisting my frames and clicking on the lenses with her nails until I had to yell at her to stop (asking didn't work), upon which Brill said 'we know what we're doing' completely condescending. Guess what? I never asked for you to even TOUCH my glasses in the first place and I will NEVER step foot in your rude, ignorant and unprofessional store again. I am really happy to find a great local optometrist! Dr. Brill and Chiara were very helpful throughout the appt. Great selection of stylish and "hip" frames. Chiara was especially helpful in breaking down my insurance benefits and what would be most effective for me. Definitely prefer this over the corporate feel of LensCrafters. read more

This rating is for Chiara the ABO Certified Optician who is such a sweetheart! I am a US Army Veteran, with no vision insurance, but I wanted a stylish pair of frames. (Most discount framed shops, do not have a good selection of frames and I had been to several). This place has a huge selection. Most of the frames they had in June were for a bigger face, but Chiara alerted the Dr. Brill, so they ordered more frames for smaller shaped faces at the end of summer which I really appreciated and was patient until they got in their next shipment, and bought a pair. If you are not in a hurry, they can get you what you want if you don't see what you like there, and have something else in mind. Also if you don't have insurance be sure to ask if there is a special running, or some coupon available. read more

I recently went to Dr. Brill for an eye examination. I found him to be courteous and very professional. He explained every step of the examination in detail and I was able to understand all aspects. I was fitted for reading and distance glasses. He gave me every possible discount...which he explained...and the cost was very fair. He is an excellent optometrist. My bosses glasses broke and I needed help on the fly! I walked in and the lovely gal at the desk worked on the glasses with some spare parts from the back. She was able to replace an arm in 5 minutes and my boss was so relieved! Hats off to speedy service with a smile. :) read more

I've been going to Dr. Brill for years. A couple of years ago I had to find a new optometrist because I changed my insurance plan. My experience with the new optometrist was awful! I changed back to my old plan the following year and booked an appointment with Dr. Brill ASAP. Both my son and I see Dr. Brill now. He's patient and very thorough. The office staff is amazing! Great customer service! Although this office is quite a distance from my house, it's definitely worth the drive. read more
