The butchers is excellent, along with the Novell restaurant and its also a great place to shop for gifts. Kids love going there, so much to look at, friendly and helpful staff and a very pleasant atmosphere from minute you walk in.

Yesterday (2 Apr 2014) 4.15 pm wanted a coffee at counter, no one wanted to come and do it (only 2 staff visible anyway) she eventually came and asked what we wanted. I then went to pay at till, a rather large woman, long black floor length skirt, bleached hair carried on putting out items around the tills, completely ignoring me, when she did serve me she never even looked at me throughout the whole transaction, the only good thing was that she said please and thankyou. They stopped making sandwiches to order, we and others regulars miss these. The staff have always looked like they hate being there and resent customers for having the affront to want serving either cakes and food! We won't bother going there anymore, only for gardening stuff of which there is an endless choice. They certainly need some customer service skills teaching them, we are not something you tread in when you take your dog out!

We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it. The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year. We're hoping to make another trip out to Thompsons later this summer.

The shop area houses a large range of garden furniture, water features, books and gifts as well as a large range of house plants including orchids and some exotic species. There are also many types of garden compost and accessories including paving and stoneware for garden landscaping. Overall a very pleasant place to browse for your gardening needs.
