Med Spa? It hits you in the face when you walk in. How about just dentistry? 2. My first experience they used some sort of plaque laser that I later was charged for because it wasn't covered. I had never heard of this treatment before, and I'm not entirely sure it's of significant value. 3. I was told that I needed to have a 360 scan of my mouth or head for today's appointment - that it's a requirement of the doctor to provide care. This scan is only 50% covered by most insurance, including mine, resulting in a $100+ out of pocket bill. 4. This is the same practice that billed me for a bunch of DeFazio's work when HE was my dentist. I told them I'm NEVER going to pay those invoices. Long story short: They have quality dentists and hygienists, but the business is a money-grubbing enterprise that will stop at nothing to sell you additional services, many of which have nothing to do with dentistry. I found it extremely off-putting. I just want a dentist to make sure my teeth are healthy. I don't want all that crap. He's going to get $0 from me from now on.

Last time I was here I had a tooth ache but they couldn't tell me why. They did explain my bill in great detail and offered me an appointment a month away with a specialist, which I laughed at. I came back the following Monday to see the specialist, still in pain and I still wasn't given a direct answer. I was given another bill and they told me they didn't know what was causing the pain but I may need another crown for $1200. Weeks later and the pain has resolved and I save $1200. This seemed like a scam and I won't be back. No answers but sure provided me with bills and billed my insurance.

My Seattle dentist (Dr. Cris Simmons) is one of the top TMJ specialists in the world. His wife/secretary (Anna) referred me to Dr. Sanchez. I called for an appointment and was offered a free half-hour consultation. I phoned back Anna and she said that's a very good sign. She said that if they wanted me to make an appointment for x-rays, run the other direction. Lol During the consultation, it was clear that Dr. Sanchez had years of advanced specialized training with TMJ. He inspected my appliance and said he can definitely make one that's comparable. But even though it's slightly chipped in the front, it won't affect the functionality or comfort so it's not worth wasting my money on a new one. His advice was to continue using it until there's more serious wear. I felt relieved to find a dentist in my new city who's honest AND a highly experienced expert with TMJ.

After the first appointment where I explained that I hoped my new dentist would help with my aligner care, I got a sense the dentist (Navbir Aurora) wasn't not enthusiastic about addressing my need, but reluctantly agreed to reschedule me (they didn't have the parts needed). After the second appointment (that took about 3 minutes total) where the dentist (Navbiv Aurora) created spaces between my teeth to ensure my teeth were moving as they should, he said to me in a condescending tone "I am not supposed to help you because you initiated care somewhere else. I am doing it as a courtesy, I am not supposed to do it" and he walked out of the room. He went on to attack me because I happened to ask if all necessary spaces were created between the teeth. It's my mouth, my health - I have the right to ask clarifying questions and receive reassurance, but basic questions triggered his fragile ego and he got defensive. He then really wanted to make sure I knew and felt that my issue and my care wasn't important to him and that he was bothered by it and his demeanor showed it. It was a put down. No follow up plan, no goodbye- just left the room after a snarky arrogant remark. That conversation made me feel shocked and confused, and I told the assistant who was in the room and witnessed the conversion that the exchange didn't make me feel welcome here as a patient. Why did he have to reiterate multiple times that helping me was not what he was supposed to do? This is the only Aspen in town- who is supposed to help me then!? The dentist who is also the practice owner made me feel like a bother, a waste of his time. The assistant brought the dentist back to the room who immediately said "That's not what I said- I didn't say you aren't welcome here" to which I replied that he made me feel extremely unwelcome by his comments and that I would appreciate a different kind of attitude toward my situation. He replied coldly and vengefully "you are done here. Go back to Vegas and receive your care there. I am done with you" That was terrifying and scary. I have never experienced this type of harrowing customer service and arrogant condescending attitude from any medical professional in my life. Especially coming from a practice owner who could try caring about people, their dental problems, his reputation a little more or at least pretend to. The scenario felt like this: "you aren't bringing any money to my business , you are another dentist's problem (even from another Aspen), so I will make sure you know your care isn't important here and we are doing you a tremendous favor" And when you bring up that his behavior makes you feel unwelcome, he will try to flex his muscles, show his temper knowing he is the only Aspen dentist in town and will blatantly kick you out of his office knowing that you are left with no options in town since Motto aligners are specific only to the Aspen chain. I was told that transferring care wouldn't be a problem because Aspen is a chain, but this local Aspen owner feels bothered finishing up someone else's work for free, will be very explicit about it, will rub it in your face to make you feel bad and will kick you out as a customer when you bring up an issue just because he feels like it. This is not normal behavior from a dentist/business owner. I feel bad for his staff-they all seem like really nice well-meaning people and I am sorry that they have to work with him (Navbir Aurora)and be subjected to conceited, emotionally volatile and unprofessional behavior from their boss with a superiority complex. They all seemed so helpless. Shame on you, sir. Shame on you. What a disappointment and disgrace.

After checking in, Alyssa took me to this upright machine to do X-rays. Then we went back for cleaning and more traditional x-rays. The view was really nice, a fountain running in the outdoor space you can see from the chair. Alyssa was great, I'm newer to Albuquerque so she was giving me tons of food recommendations, which I loved! The dentist came in for a few moments noted a tooth to watch and left. Given that I didn't have much going on, it was a super smooth appointment. Guardian insurance paid for everything. Definitely enjoyed my visit.

I've been a patient since I was 9, and after 15+ years I'm finally done…read more I've had issues with the same tooth since I was a teen, but instead of properly addressing it, over the course of 1 month, they shaved the tooth twice, refilled an old cavity twice, then suggested refilling that SAME cavity again because apparently both other fillings weren't documented in my chart. Eventually they decided I needed a crown--but said Medicaid would've only covered it until age 20... (I'm 25 now) despite this being an issue since I was 13. So I have to pay out of pocket $2500 / go through pain until I can afford it Make that make sense. The final straw was the staff. Front desk has always been rude (I just put up with it cause they're not the ones working on my teeth) but at my last visit an assistant was incredibly rude and condescending.. their temporary fix for that troubled tooth, was to put some hard putty substance on it.. I mentioned to her some discomfort with how it was placed, and she told me "it is what it is" until I can get the crown.. I next mentioned I had cold sensitivity on another tooth, the doctor recommended a desensitizer .. I was told the tooth needs to be dry, therefore they have to use some air on it.. the assistant warned it may hurt, then aggressively pinched and pulled my cheek back then blasted cold air onto an already sensitive tooth with no care.. well.. it absolutely did hurt, so bad I turned my head away.. she laughed and said "I hate seeing pretty girls in pain" She was also unnecessarily rough during treatment. Putting the desensitizer on her finger and aggressively shoving it all throughout my mouth, rubbing hard on my gums, and inner lips.. borderline making me gag by going too far into my mouth on my tongue, but my painful tooth was in the front ?.. this stuff also tasted AWFUL.. it was as if she was rubbing it on my tongue on purpose.. (desensitizer is supposed to go on teeth?...) by the end, my mouth was filled w that substance and saliva, I clearly needed to spit.. well instead she just kept talking to me, she said it's "ok to swallow" ........................ like no.. I'm not gonna swallow a shot worth of saliva and thus chemical, I need to spit.. she thought it was funny.. She also said after, that I need to reschedule the cleaning because you can't clean after a desensitizer ... (THIS APPOINTMENT WAS FOR A CLEANING!) Bad days happen for folks.. but in the medical field, feelings need to be left outside the facility.. not taken out on patients. The dentist seems nice enough, but everything feels rushed and focused on getting people in and out--not actually solving problems. I understand they take Medicaid here, but go somewhere else.

I confirmed the appointment ahead of time and arrived early at 5:26 p.m. to complete any necessary paperwork. After checking in, I waited approximately 30 minutes while the office verified my insurance, which I understood. I was checked in though. What became frustrating was that multiple patients who arrived after me for 6:00 p.m. appointments were called back before I was. I continued waiting without any communication from staff regarding the delay or an explanation of why I had been overlooked. After waiting for over 1 hour and 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, I finally approached the front desk to ask what was happening. The only response I received was, "Sorry." There was no explanation, update, or effort to address the situation. I understand that dental and medical offices can run behind schedule, and I try to be patient when delays occur. What disappointed me most was the complete lack of communication and consideration for my time. A simple explanation or periodic update would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this was not a positive first impression, and based on this experience, I would be hesitant to return.
