I'm convinced I've cracked the code on the best dentist/Hygienist combo. Dr. Hong and Samantha are the best!

On Christmas Eve last year, my bridge fell out. Northeast Heights modern dentistry were the only ones open on Christmas Eve so I went there and they gave me a temporary bridge. For the next nine months they tried four times to do implant and a new bridge without much success. They charged me $10,000 including my insurance. The results of the fourth bridge was a disaster. I will have to go to a real dentist to have it redone. Very disappointed with these individuals. read more

I went in for a routine cleaning. The staff ran a bunch of imaging processes beyond normal x-rays, and while it was unusual, they didn't warn me that this would cost HUNDREDS of dollars out of pocket. These tests were unnecessary and not covered by insurance. The dentist then tried to upsell me on a bunch of "therapies with healing factors" (what a bunch of pseudo-wellness mumbo jumbo) right after telling me that flossing more regularly would address any issues. I agree with other posters who say that this dental office is in it mostly for the money and not the patients. My experience was that I went in for implants. I have an upper denture. When the tech was handling my denture, she dropped the denture. As soon as I put the denture back in my mouth, my tongue went to the chipped tooth. The tech denied dropping it. When I went to the front desk and told them, they weren't interested. At the next visit I told the dentist what had happened. He said that the office would pay for half of the cost to have the tooth fixed. I could not understand why I needed to pay half when it was their fault. I persisted and asked that the tech who dropped the denture come and speak with myself and Dr. Yang. She came in and admitted in front of Dr. Yang that she dropped the denture. Long story short, they refused to do anymore work. I was treated disrespectfully and still don't understand how this business would conclude that this was the right thing to do. read more

This morning I had oral surgery with Dr. Steele- tooth extraction plus dental implant. I LOVE that the specialists come to the dentist office so you never have to leave to bounce around offices! And the staff is always so kind! When I was explaining my pre-existing conditions to the dental assistant, she had a condition in common with me and we commiserated together and exchanged home remedies because that is how kind and down to earth the staff is here! And seeing Jasmine and Kara up front always makes me so happy! If you are looking for a dental clinic in Albuquerque, NE Heights Modern Dentistry on Academy and Wyoming is amazing! We love Dr. Yang (general dentist), Dr. Steele (oral surgeon), and Dr. Lovato (endodontist)! And the office staff is the best! They even gave me a care package today to take home to heal full of soft foods like mac and cheese and jello plus two reusable ice packs and comfort gauze! And they have a Keurig coffee bar for family members while they wait. We have gone from being that family that avoids the dentist to being proactive in our dental care because we love our dentist so much! read more

I don't typically offer to write reviews, but Dr. Hong is not a typical dentist. He truly cares about his patients. I've confident of this. I'm sure this will sound cliche or like an exaggeration, but it's true that I consider him a friend. I've had a lot of work completed at NE Heights Modern Dentistry over the years, and all of it out-of-pocket. Without Dr. Hong and his staff caring enough to help me find ways to reduce costs, I would have been unable to get the treatment I needed. I am so very appreciative! I would give 6 stars if I could! Made an appointment for my husband and me to come here on a Saturday morning (love that they offer weekend appointments) and check-in was a breeze. We arrived a little early to fill out paperwork since we are new patients; we had received an email to do this beforehand but something wasn't working for me and honestly I was just too lazy to try it again, haha. But it was easy enough to do in person at the office. We were there for a routine check-up (X-rays and cleaning) and, for both of us, were there for about 1-1.5 hours. I think it took longer because we had our infant son with us and they took care of my husband and me one after the other so that one of us could be with our son - very considerate of them, and I hope this didn't push them behind too much. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional, from the front staff to the dental assistant to the dentist himself. Dr. Hong also took a look at my son's teeth and answered some questions I had about caring for baby's teeth even though we obviously weren't there for his appointment. We will definitely be back in 6 months for our next check-up, and the little one has an appointment set up then, too! (As an added bonus, we were given little goodie bags on our way out that included a dental kit, a mug (!), hot cocoa, candy, and a pen! Really just the cherry on top of a great dentist experience.) read more

The staff is great, but Dr. Yang seemed rushed with our visit and think he spent only 3-5 minutes looking at my virtual teeth and problems. I could barely view these photos as he clicked off so quickly with me looking at them .Not how I want to be treated for a patient who can barely afford out-of-pocket pay. read more

Never Again! I paid for thousands of dollars of work a few years ago, got told when I got it done that it had a good warranty, years of it. Well, all the work they've done except my root canals have failed within the warranty period I was told. I had moved when the first few failed, went to another doctor, had to repay for the same work they had already done. I had a build-up fail, popped out when I was eating a croissant, the softest of soft breads. Called as soon as it happened, got told "we can't get you in for another 5 days." Waited the time, went in, got told at the reception desk "Oh, we need to reschedule you." No reason, just got told they had to reschedule. My appointment was marked as an emergency. It was only an emergency because of substandard work. But no, they can't get me in. I protested, then it turned into "Well, now you have to be a new patient and we don't have any spots for those. Also, that multi-year warranty we told you about? Psyche! It's only a year. I hope you're ready to pay us thousands of more dollars to fix the bad work we did the first time. But only after we can get you in at some distant point in the future, and only if we decide to not actually fix it instead of pulling it." After reading other reviews on here, I'm actually pretty happy they turned me away. I might have to drive across the whole city and take off work in order to go in as a walk in and wait be seen by Dr Clark at Comfort Dental, but at least I know they'll do it right the first time. read more

So never would I go here again. They take months to do anything. Simply contacting insurance to fix claim won't ever happen after you call them so many times. They are lazy and do crapy job. Sent personal check and insurance check to wrong address also. Yup had to call insurance myself might as well have done everything on my own! They are much more concerned with paying off their fancy equipment than they are taking care of you and what is best for you. First off, they don't start by cleaning your teeth. They have the dentist come in first to give the exam, which I've never had happen before. I saw Dr. Yang, who was condescending and unhelpful in explaining what it was he wanted to do. The gist of it was that he wanted to do $4000 worth of preventive work for a "slight case of periodontitis" including lasers. When I said I hadn't noticed gum problems or bleeding he jammed the tool in my gums until it started bleeding in order to show me.. He gave me no options and said the benefits coordinator would come back to discuss my insurance. She proceeded to tell me my insurance was great and would pay for $3600, leaving me with only $400 to pay out of pocket. However, I know my insurance and that it would not be covered. I asked if she looked at my specific type of insurance as it was Delta but a ppo for a union. She said no, and that she could call. So, they told me it was covered without ever even actually checking. At this point I had been there an hour and 45 mins, so I got up to leave. I told her on the way out. I was leaving, and she said she'd be in contact after talking to my insurance... she never did. I saw another dentist who did not find it necessary for me to have any of those procedures, but gave me clear information about why I may have to have them in the future if I do not stay on my treatment plan. Please save yourself a headache and stay far away from this place. read more

NE Heights Modern Dentistry may be adequate for adult dentistry, but stay away for pediatrics!!! I brought my daughter here for a routine checkup. It was her first visit to the dentist and she was terrified. We had a few people holding her down, and she was screaming. I was mortified. Dr Yang asked if they could administer laughing gas to calm her down. I was okay with that, so they proceeded to give it to her. She was one of the people that had no effects from the laughing gas. She was still screaming and terrified. The dental assistants were ~okay~ at trying to calm her down, but mostly bribed her with toys. This obviously didn't help. What seemed like hours later, they were done with a partial checkup and decided to throw in the towel. Dr. Yang was very rude to me when they finished, and said "maybe next time you could try and keep your daughter calm?" As if I wasn't trying to keep her calm the entire appointment?! Did he think I enjoyed holding her down/watching her be held down to get her teeth looked at?! What a joke. I never returned and will never offer a positive recommendation of this office. I tell everyone to absolutely avoid this place, especially for pediatrics. I would like to add that the front desk staff was very kind, but the dentist made our visit to this office a visit that I will never forget. (In a bad way.) read more

Stay away! . I just moved and needed a new dentist. I walked in because the location is very convenient, they happened to take my insurance, and their hours worked with my schedule. . They were very nice, the dentist was super friendly, and everything seemed legit. They took my x-rays, gave me a basic exam, and then told me I needed three fillings. I didn't need any work at my exam with my old dentist in March and I take great care of my teeth since I had a lot of work done a couple of years ago, so I was a bit skeptical. . I looked at the review here and decided to get a second opinion. I went to Dr. Hanosh (where my fiancee goes). He told me that my teeth were fine, no need for any fillings. These guys here are just hacks going after your money. . If you have been here and they recommended work go get a second opinion. If you haven't gone here stay away. read more

I went to go see Dr Yang years ago and I could not tell if he was being honest with me or not. I got a second opinion and got much less invasive procedures for like a seriously smaller fraction of cost. This was years ago and everything worked out. Would not recommend. read more

Dr. Yang is amazing! I really like this dental practice. I came here for root canal, deep cleaning and wisdom tooth extraction and they did a great job, while also answering all my questions and providing detailed explanations. I had dental phobia because of traumatic dental experience in the past but they changed my perception. They asked me how I was doing every 5 minutes to make sure I was doing okay and to my surprise, it was PAINLESS!!! Now, I'm not afraid to come to dentist. Also, the front desk and billing staff are outstanding, which to me, make a HUGE difference when patronizing any medical practice. They're always polite and personable. Had dental work done in April 2022 and was billed for services that I didn't receive at the North East Heights Modern Dentistry Office. Was suppose to have a root canal and crown done and after the consult with the Endodontist and the Doctor they felt it should of been an extraction. Didn't do the extraction either. I was charged on my care credit $731.48 for these procedures and the office manager refused to give me my money back or credit on my card. Beware patients, please don't pay for any service in advance. The office manager has a personality problem and is a nasty person. Pay as you go. Can't be trusted. Not her money. Maybe they should take the amount due to me out of her pay since she calls all the shot. I am on a fixed income and I don't know how the owners can allow this to happen. Someone needs to investigate her. I would not recommend this office to anyone as long as she is employed there. read more

This place has changed and it is part of ABQ Modern Dentistry. Not the older review dates of the negative comments. It is different than it was years ago when my wife went and she was unhappy also. Now they know their insurance plans. I went for a root canal by Dr. Karen Lovato and extremely satisfied. It was an emergency and they got me in quickly. The procedure went without a hitch and I was pain free the following day. The pricing was no different than I expected and they reviewed that with me when I had my initial visit at their office on Montgomery and Tramway to see what the problem was. Everything was up and up. Kristy knew her insurance plans. What an asset. I come to ABQ during the summers from Florida and I intend to get my regular check and cleanings here. read more

Dr. Yang was great! This was my first time going to the Dentist in quite a while, but everything went smoothly. I made an appointment and went in not knowing what to expect, but I was seen on time and had a full cleaning and examination. Luckily, I didn't have any cavities or any issues! He reminded me to floss everyday and sent me on my way. I'll probably go here again next time. read more

Avoid this place if you can. I saw them for an emergency after an accident which caused my front tooth to fall out. I was referred here for a dental implant which is a 4 month minimum process. I had implant surgery and have waited 4.5 months now to get my crown (I've been living without a front tooth) and when I showed up to my appointment, nobody was at the front desk but instead the staff was sitting in a room with loud music laughing and talking to each other. Once someone finally saw me, she told me that my appointment had gotten moved 3 weeks out (which I was not made aware of) and her excuse was that "sometimes there is a glitch in the system." I drove about 40 minutes here from the East Mountains and took off work. This is frustrating for me because I've been waiting 4.5 months to get a new front tooth and the staff has no sense of urgency or empathy for that matter. I really enjoyed coming here when my top employer and I had insurance. The bad part is that I am one on medicaid and I can no longer come here since I don't have insurance. Everyone is really nice and they do have payment plans can be a bit expensive. The only thing I didn't like is how they switched dentists on me like 3 times. I think they are more of a pre-grad school rotating clinic. They also offer white fillings instead of the silver ugly ones which is nice in this day and age. read more

I have been fighting with them for over a year to get them to return the money back to my insurance company. They have promised me that they would, but here we are almost a year later, and they still have not returned the money. Wow, the opposite has happened w me. I had visited the same dentist for years until they tried to fleece me when care credit approved a high limit. I went to NE Heights for a second opinion and they saved me thousands literally. I've been w NE heights now for a couple of years and I'm very happy w their service and especially price. When a cap came off I was expecting the whole thousand dollar bit w a new one, but they were able to attach the old one and it cost a total of 35 bucks. Today I went in for cleaning after a year and needed a little extra work and was again pleased w the service and the bill. I agree w the comment on Papworth, the best root canal I've ever had. NE heights did ignore my return email asking for appt, that's not cool, but hey, I picked up the phone and made the appt. They're not perfect, but I have zero complaints and rate them highly. read more

I always enjoy my visit to NE heights modern dentistry. The staff is always so helpful and nice! They have get ladies when you walk in the door they always welcome you with bright smiles. Great DAs who are always friendly and nice, they offer you beverages while you wait and offer to put a movie on for you. I love the technology there with the fast and easy xray machine, and its great how they try to be as paperless as possible. The doctors here are great also friendly and I feel that they look out for you to get you the best results possible. I am very surprised to see the negative reviews, as I had a wonderful experience at this office. They were very upfront with me about the cost of everything and what the best procedures for me would be. I spent all day at the office, but only because of the procedures that I had done. The receptionist greeted me immediately and I was immediately taken back for x-rays and my exam. All of the staff were very professional, yet friendly. And made me feel very comfortable. They made sure I knew the charges up front (there weren't any - my insurance paid), and they spent over two hours on me and my teeth. The office staff all gets along and they were competent. This was the most efficient and caring dental office I have ever visited. I was a walk in. They treated me like I was a long term patient. The work that was required was explained to me in detail. The charges for services were agreed upon in advance and that is exactly what I paid. My partner who was waiting was kept informed of the progress of my treatment at all times. These guys are awesome. Whole new staff that has bent over backwards to help us. My daughter had an issue with a bridge we previously bought. The all new staff at NE Heights Modern Dentistry got us an appointment right away and is fixing the situation with the bridge....by replacing the defective bridge with a whole new appliance. I had a unique and pleasant dentist appointment today at Heights Modern Dentistry. I saw the Dr. for a meet and greet to welcome me and see if I had any specific concerns for today's appointment. Shauna the office/operations manager was pleasant and efficient. I could go on and on with good things that happened today at HMD, but in short the facility was state of the art, clean and comfortable. The staff was professional, and efficient. Had to start Legal action to get my money back from NE Heights Modern Dentistry in ABQ - they owe me $476 refund - while visiting a friend in ABQ I looked into having a tooth pulled - went into NE Heights Modern Dentistry and had exam and tooth looked at- After exam NE Heights Modern Dentistry said their first opening to pull tooth was one week away - Told them I may need to return home on short notice - No problem - set up appointment and I payed $535 in Advance with credit card - - the Next morning I called NE Heights Modern Dentistry in ABQ and Canceled appointment - they said No Problem and would Refund my unused balance - - Its been about a month and I have called them several times asking about my refund - We are working on it is what I am being told - NE Heights Modern Dentistry has my money and wont give it back- $535 minus $59 for exam= $476 refund I am owed - Their office is filled with some impressive equipment that worked perfectly- Staff is friendly and smart and were able to take my $535 in 15 seconds - Now I am taking Legal action to get my $476 Refund from NE Heights Modern Dentistry in ABQ - read more
