However, the front office staff and office policies have not been a good experience. I recently moved out of state and attempted to access my records via the patient portal and could not access them. Per an email request, I received a phone call saying I could complete a form for my new physician (I've already done this) and if I wanted my records I could PAY A FEE for them to be provided via CD. I have two overwhelming concerns: 1) I and/or my insurance company have paid through the nose for medical care for the past 8 years; and 2) who uses CDs anymore-- new computers don't come with a CD drive! What century are you in? Everything is cloud-based now and precisely why I should be able to access my records via the portal. As an example, I can access my Emory and Mayo Clinic records today (some are over 2 decades old and others over a decade old). This is a terrible business practice and nothing but a MONEY MAKER for this practice. I'm hugely disappointed in this nonsensical practice. And, I would also be concerned about a medical office SNAIL MAILING private, medical records. Isn't this a HIPAA privacy concern?

They rarely return phone calls. Physician: Dr. Waters no longer sees my family member, she passed my family member off to a Nurse Practitioner, the NP is professional and friendly and so far I haven't had any issues with her care, but she isn't a MD. Office: Office is not too small and nothing special. The last time I went inside the television was off? I'm not sure if they had enough money to purchase Netflix, Hulu or Cable? Parking: Parking area is sufficient, but the office has moved into an area that is not as nice as her previous office. Additional: Dr. Water's office nickels and dimes the patients now. I'm not sure if it's because she's hurting financially (see TV comment above) or what the reason is, but my family member went to a scheduled appointment and asked them to fill out a form for work; they wanted to charge an extra $25 fee to fill out a paper for her job. That should be part of the office visit. I consider that unacceptable and very poor customer service. This medical office has gone from being one of the best in Atlanta to being just like all the others, not very good. Summary: Overall, because it's almost impossible to get anyone on the phone or get return phone calls, because they want to nickel and dime you for every single thing and because they have to send patients out for many things now, I would definitely not suggest Dr. Waters anymore. Perhaps if she addresses these problems and returns to the way she did business before I would change my review, but as of now I can't recommend her to anyone. Pros: 1. Parking is never an issue Cons: 1. Very difficult to reach anyone by phone. 2. Nickel and dimes patients now 3. It's hard to find great physicians like them these days. Now here comes the minor negative.....and I really mean minor negative.... No x-ray facility so if you needed a chest or spinal x-ray, you'd have to trek to Dekalb Medical Center. The clerical staff seemed absent minded at times. I'd call to ask a question and get transferred around sometimes. It wasn't a constant thing but it certainly happened here and there and was frustrating. Now here is why I've taken a one star deduction. I called to make an appointment last month and not only was I informed Dr. D'Souza was no longer with the practice but I was also informed the practice had moved to Tucker, GA. I was shocked because I wasn't notified about any of this and really felt left out in the cold. At this point I feel like I'm at a crossroads. Tucker is not terribly far but I feel like the carpet has been pulled out from under me. I have more questions than answers and I'm not sure what has happened because Dr. Moore-Waters hadn't been at that particular location very long. For years she was next door to Ace Hardware on Scott Blvd but none the less, she's been in Decatur for years. I heard about Dr. Owen at Whole Family Medicine from a coworker who had been through the same ordeal as I. She said Dr. Owen was the one who pinpointed the issue and set her onto a road of recovery. With some hope that I scraped from the bottom of the barrel, in regards to doctors, I went to see Dr. Owen. I wept on the sofa in her office and laid it all out there. She took a deep breath and began that day to set me on my road to recovery! I'm feeling better every day under her care. She understands my apprehensions with western medicine and works around that. She finds the treatments that I am comfortable doing. She has a very optimistic attitude and a matter of fact way about her that makes me feel safe. But... personality aside (I've had several personality plus doctors who had no clue about healing people) Dr. Owen KNOWS HER STUFF! And...if she doesn't know something she will figure it out. She is open to all sorts of treatments and doesn't judge or cringe when a patient brings in their own idea of treatment. Like she said the first time I met her, " If the crud on the bottom of a pond heals you and makes you feel better, then take the crud off the bottom of the pond!!! I don't need to know how it works but that it works!" She doesn't judge her patients. She actually has compassion for them and is curious about these treatments we want to try. I know. I'm one of them. There is a difference between a doctor who practices medicine and a doctor who practices healing. She is the latter. I'm thankful every day for this woman.

I was like wow - great service recovery. Unfortunately I couldn't do the next day, but she allowed me the flexibility I needed and I was scheduled for the next week. So... appointment day. I walk from the Decatur train station - 5 minutes! I arrive at 930 thinking my appointment is at 945. Nope. I get to the counter and she's like my appointment is at 1130 and they'll see what they can do - If I could wait around. I'm a little annoyed, but decided to stick around. After I finish my paperwork - my name is called ( maybe a 10 minute wait). I'm like oh okay ... but thinking I'll probably just be in the exam room forever waiting. I eventually make it back to the exam room and chat with the nurse - the basics. About 10-15 minutes later ... Dr. Murray comes in. We had the basics doctor- patient convo she heard my concerns and ways I wanted to improve my health. Offered to do a physical - I'm like wonderful. She's does the physical. We have another chat and I'm done. Dr. Murray was very attentive and gave me the time I needed. The appointment wasn't rushed. I wasn't over talked or under talked. I felt she was respectful of my time and overall felt she was worth the 6 month wait. She also informed me now that I am an established patient they have same day appointments if needed. overall, a few hiccups, but great service recovery and appointment.

Since he left and Emory has taken over, this office is become a nightmare. I don't see a doctor anymore; I see a PA. This would be fine except that she (Ahmadi) speaks to me like I'm a first grader, ordered a test without being truthful with me about why she was ordering it, and writes scripts incorrectly. She writes my six month script to expire exactly six months from the day I see her. This means that if I had a week or two left on the previous script or if the pharmacy is having trouble keeping my medicine stocked that the last month in my six month script expires before I can fill it and is now unavailable. When I call to try to resolve this issue, I don't get the office anymore- I get a switchboard operator. Recently, I waited on hold forever (where they tell me to hang up use the patient portal- the third patient portal system I've had to switch to since being there) and then, when I finally get a person on the line, it's a receptionist for Emory (not the office) who schedules me an appointment for the end of the week to get my refill. However, the next day the office calls and tells me that Ahmadi is out all week and, not only will she not be answering my request on the portal, but they are rescheduling my appointment for another three weeks from now. This means that I will have to go a month without the script that I need and have been taking, without problem, for years. I can't get anyone with any kind of medical degree to answer me, just a receptionist who tells me to wait. It's infuriating. No one treats you like a human and problems with a very simple solution are ignored until someone feels like addressing it.

I ended up paying for the unwanted lab test and paying their office fee of $167 thinking I will never have to deal with them again. A year later, I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I had not paid my bill, can you guys not get your booking together? Their business manager Susan is AWFUL at her job. I'm not sure how she is still there at the office as inefficient and unresponsive she to do her job.
