In all my years of fervent consumerism of insurance, I have yet to come into contact with an individual the likes of Rob Moore, and it has become difficult, nay impossible for me to stand on the sidelines any longer. I cannot, and will not stand idly by while others post their praise about this man, without contributing my own voice. Sure, I could say things like, "Rob is terrible", or "Rob couldn't give away insurance to the uninsured", but I won't do that. Mainly because I don't believe that to be true, but also because I think that might be rude. In fact, I'd like to take you on a journey. An insurance journey.... On average, I give Rob what feels like about 60% of my income so he can put it towards my insurance premiums. I mainly blame the federal government for this crazy amount of money, but applaud Rob Moore for steering me thorough the abyss. I am currently on the hook for home owners, auto (x3), life (x2), loss, and flood. Let me take you through flood first, since it is the most fun. I live in Reno, Nevada. The Federal Government classifies Reno as being in a major, life and fortune altering drought. The executive branch of this federal government will tell you unequivocally and without reservation that this drought is caused by carbon emissions from human activity, and have given name to this phenomenon: Global Warming. Roughly two years ago, the White House decided that the term 'global warming' was too specific, and the definition of the term didn't fit with the actual term (or their motivations). They changed this term because the world wasn't actually "warming" per se, but in fact it was simply changing. Thus the term "Climate Change" was born. Confusing, because the world's climate has been changing since the dawn of time, and just recently has the change been deemed an apocalyptic problem. For instance, the geographic desert wasteland area known as the Black Rock Desert was once under about 900 feet of water, and was known as prehistoric Lake Lahontan. Lake Lahontan covered roughly 9,000 square miles (the majority of present day Nevada), and was one of the largest lakes in North America. That lake is gone now, due to climate change, and only a barren desert landscape remains. Anyway, I digress. How does Rob Moore, and my flood insurance policy relate to Climate Change, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. Reno, Nevada receives on average less than 7" of rain. For comparison, Los Angeles gets 15" annually, and Beijing gets 22.5" per year. So, with the low amount of annual rainfall in Reno, teamed with the decades long drought, and the man-made "climate change" that we are experiencing, it would fly in the face of our collective sanity and reason to have the federal government also require that I carry flood insurance, right? Wrong. President Obama, and his Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), have decided that my home lies in a flood plain. They have determined that my home will be flooded in the event of a "hundred year's flood", and I am thereby required to carry an absurd amount of flood insurance to cover the cost to replace my home, and all of my valuables. Unfortunately, we had a "hundred year" event in June of 2011, where Reno, NV received a monthly record of 3.5" of rainfall, and more specifically, Reno received most of that total over a 2 day span. A real deluge. Do you think my home flooded? Bingo, you guessed it...not even a puddle gathered in my back yard. I wrote a letter to President Obama to address the inequity that is FEMA's rules on flood insurance, but do you think I heard anything back? Not even a response from a lowly staffer. With that said, and with Climate Change further extending the drought, and our record low rainfall totals, why am I required to carry flood insurance? Wouldn't it be the height of hypocrisy to tell me out of one side of your mouth that Climate Change is causing less and less precipitation in Northern Nevada, while out of the other side of your mouth telling me that I need flood insurance? Don't those two ideas butt heads? I'm not sure where I was heading with that. Oh, yeah, Rob Moore. Rob totally crushes insurance, use him for all your insurance needs! I'll close with a quote by the great Ron Swanson -- "The whole thing is a scam, Birthday's were invented by Hallmark to sell cards." Replace the word "birthday's" with "flood insurance", "Hallmark" with "the government", and "sell cards" with "steal money", and you have my truth. In times like that I will again turn to the wisdom of Ron Swanson, who says -- "This is America. You want to live in North Korea? You can live in North Korea. I don't want to. I want to live in AMERICA!" The day we decided to move is the day the government wins. Thomas Jefferson wrote, "When the government fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." You may be saying to yourself, "what does this have to do with me, I don't have to pay for flood insurance on my home." I am not inherently opposed to that ideal of non-intervention. I myself dabbled in pacifism once - not in flood insurance, of course. But what happens 2, 3, 4 years down the road when a government task force shows up on your doorstep with a new regulation stating that you are now in a flood plain? I'll tell you what will happen -- You will call Rob Moore. He will guide you through the overwhelming process that is flood insurance. He will get you a rate that is well below what other firms will ask of you. He will patiently, and honestly work with you and your family to come up with a plan that may not be ideal, but will be the best situation you can hope for while we are collectively under the thumb of an oppressive government regime that makes decisions for the people, against the will of the people. I hope that flood insurance is never pushed on you. I hope you don't have to live the nightmare that is flood insurance. I hope that in reading this review of the Robert L. Moore Agency, you are drawn out of the shadows of pacifism, and into the light of activism. "The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." Maybe, but where I am 100% sure he was speaking of flood insurance was as follows: "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
