I don't take pleasure in leaving this review, but Jim Tatro's State Farm office has become just that. Jim used to be actively engaged, backed by a capable staff, but those days are long gone. Now, it's a constant game of reaching voicemail, dealing with a revolving door of new faces, and having emails ignored or mishandled. What's worse is that I can't even trust the information they provide after repeatedly receiving incorrect details about my own policies. I believe in second (and third) chances, but there's a limit. What finally pushed me over the edge--and ultimately led me to move all my policies to another office--was a simple question about whether my auto policy would cover me in Canada. I emailed them, only to be told by Jim's staff that coverage extended only 50 miles across the border. This struck me as odd since most major insurers cover Canada, so I followed up, asking them to confirm. They assured me Jim had 17 years of experience and knew what he was talking about. Skeptical, I called a non-State Farm agent who confirmed they could cover me for a month in Canada but encouraged me to double-check with my State Farm agent. So, I reached out to three other local State Farm offices, all of which actually answered their phones and told me unequivocally that State Farm policies do cover trips to Canada. I relayed this back to Tatro's office, only to be told again that I was wrong and they weren't budging. Finally, I called State Farm corporate, who immediately confirmed my coverage and expressed concern that my local agent was so misinformed after 17 years in business. Even after this, Tatro's office still insisted corporate was wrong. Unbelievable. At my wit's end, I suggested a conference call with corporate. They hesitated but eventually agreed, and right as we're about to get on the call, they suddenly admit, "Oh, we actually spoke with underwriting, and yes, you're covered." I was livid--an entire day wasted on a basic question they should've known the answer to. That was the final straw. I realized it was time to pull the plug and leave this train wreck of an office for good.

I have used them for just over a year for both my auto insurance and renter's policies. Stacy R. Kennedy, CISR, is my agent, and she has always been so pleasant and professional when I have dealt with her. The office is located on the second floor of 10345 Professional Circle, which is to the left of the Renown building. Parking was easy, although the lanes were a little tight. They have restrooms on each floor. And from the second floor there is a huge glass window in the front with a spectacular view of the parking lot and mountains. I didn't expect my agent to be in or available, but I thought I would stop by since I was in the area, and their Yelp page had no pics, which made me feel sad. As it turned out, Ashleigh Foster, another agent, was there, and was happy to help me! I signed in first, then waited. She offered me water while she went back to check my policy. She came out and told me for a small windshield claim, it might be better to pay myself. Since it was comprehensive, I would not be surcharged by them for it, but if I decided to shop around and change companies in the future, I would have to disclose I filed a claim. But she also said if it was a larger amount, go ahead and file the claim. I also asked if I had to get an estimate first. Like with collision, they send you to Caliber Collision, which works with Liberty Mutual to give an estimate. They go by that amount for the claim, but you are free to choose your own body shop. So I wondered if it worked the same way with auto glass. Ashleigh said no and that I could go wherever. She recommended I go to Reno Sparks Auto Glass in Sparks to handle it, since she said they provide excellent service, are local, cost less, and even have done her own car, a Subaru. I said I called the national number the day before, and they told me Safelite AutoGlass was Liberty Mutual's preferred partner. But Ashleigh said the national corporation recommends them, but the local agents here know better, due to the reasons mentioned above I also asked her some questions about recalibration of my safety equipment, since when you have your windshield replaced, any safety camera or sonar that is built in need to be checked. My car has a camera between the review mirror and windshield, which monitors the lane lines as part of the lane assist feature in the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) package. She was unaware of that, and at first thought I was talking about a dashcam, but she told me to ask the window company. They have a nice customer waiting room, with three chairs and a bowl of candy by their window. Strangely, they have a secure window between the customer and desk person, like some banks do. I think it is kind of strange for an insurance agency, since they do not handle money, but maybe they just inherited that when they took over the office.

Did not have a good experience with Liberty Mutual. They are not customer oriented. Difficult to…read morecontact and took months for a decision. Would not recommend.

First of all the girl Stephanie…read moreoriginally set me up with the policy, she was very friendly when she knew I was going to write a policy with her. She quoted me a price which was reasonable considering my car is a 2015 so I went ahead and signed the policy. It took about an hour to do so. She sent me papers to sign via email which didn't work so my bf had to go get them, bring them to me at work and then bring them back to her. She wasn't very friendly to him when he did. Then I get an email back with an even higher monthly premium then she originally told me. I let it slide since it was only a $25 difference. I also signed up with her for auto pay as well as paperless billing. So a few weeks passed and I received a paper bill for $75 higher than my original quote. When I called to complain she told me she would re-quote me for something lower, she put me on hold for about 2 minutes while she did so. In my opinion it should take longer to find another deal so I don't feel as though she did it she only said it to try to satisfy my anger. Then comes back and said because of a ticket I didn't disclose to her there's nothing lower and that I'm stuck paying that much. She got my whole dmv report the date of the original policy set up and got all the tickets or accidents in it and told me them that day so I know for a fact she's just making an excuse. Then today I called to ask for help canceling it so she transferred me right away to the insurance company itself rather than helping me fix the problem. When I spoke with Progressive they told me there's fees that were never disclosed to me and referred me to the agent who wrote the policy to get the fees removed since that was not my fault. When I called Stephanie back once she knew it was me she was very rude and told me she wouldn't do anything to help me and if I don't pay the fees then I'll just end up in collections. Then had the audacity to ask me if I originally asked her if there were cancelation fees because I was going to cancel in the 1st month. How could I know she would screw me over and I would get over charged and get no assistance and feel the need to cancel in the first month? She started to accuse me if being in a rush the day she wrote the policy which is a lie and then said it's my own fault for not telling her I would cancel so soon. She is extremely rude and her customer service is appalling and disgusting. I'm so angry at how poorly her attitude was projected. When I asked for her bosses info to complain site proceeded to state she's the boss and I can only complain to progressive. Unless she owns it then she's lying and I don't believe someone who is trying to run their own business would be so rude to their own clients. She lied across the board. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS SORRY EXCUSE OF A BUSINESS. THEY ARE CROOKS WITH SHITTY ATTITUDES AND ARE VERY DISRESPECTFUL. I ALREADY FOUND A MUCH BETTER DEAL THROUGH AUTO INSURANCE AMERICA AND ALREADY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE PUTS STEPHANIE TO SHAME. CAPITAL SHOULD BE CLOSED AND STEPHANIE SHOULD NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO SELL INSURANCE. SHE IS A DISGRACE TO THE INSURANCE WORLD. I'll be contacting the insurance board to make a complaint as well as to the owner of the company. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE. .....GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
