Or they just used a very little tea for all the milk teas. I came here about 8:30pm, but sign says they will open back up at 8:45pm. We went to party city and got back at 8:53pm. First time I've ever experienced such attitude energy from the employee closing on 01/03/2025, and we were very polite until we left. We can tell by her tone she was already upset we walked in and ordered. I think she wanted to leave. We spent money and although we were not allowed to pick our own free pokemon, she was so upset we even asked. Gave the energy like she didn't even want to serve us. Put boba in my drink I never asked for and instead of remaking my drink she decided to put the bottom of cup on top as you can see the fluid on a chill drink. I paid for add on grass jelly and I got 2 small pieces. This place used to be awesome. I loved coming here to pickup drinks for my wife and her coworkers. When they first opened up, they gave out reusable glass bottles with cork stoppers, then plastic bottles which were extremely fragile, then plastic bottles that leak if you tilt them. With such a large cost going into the design and manufacturing those bottles, it made sense after coming here for the first time since the pandemic that i saw they have reusable cups instead of the bottles. My review isn't based on their containers though. Back in the day, i would give them 4.5 stars, with the deduction in stars as a result of their containers. The house RW coffee, hot or cold is awesome. Their strawberry lemonade is awesome, as are a majority of their drinks. They give you a free add on, and if you want more, its still 50 cents each. I could place an order with the cashier of 7-10 drinks, and those drinks would be ready in less than 5-10 minutes WITH only 1 person on duty. Today 4/18/21, we came here to get a quick drink while waiting to be seated for dinner at the BBQ restaurant across the parking lot. We got in line at a little bit before 530, then got into the store by 535, as they only let one group of people enter at a time to order. Thats not an issue, but when you're at the register and there are at least 4 people behind the counter, and you're not being acknowledged, then it's a problem. It took 5 minutes before the worker came to ask our order, as he seemed preoccupied with the coffee machine that another guy was working on. When i proceded to pay with my card, it took him a minute literally to press the process button on the register, as he was distracted by who knows what. Our two drinks came out 15 minutes later, but they need to have a better process. No one is allowed to wait inside the store, which is understandable, but if that's the case, THEN PUT YOUR SPEAKER FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OUTSIDE SO PEOPLE CAN HEAR THEIR NUMBERS. Everyone ends up huddled outside by the door so they can hear, which is not much of an improvement to social distancing guidelines. They do have a number display that you can look at through the window, but again....huddled people, voiding social distancing, and it's hard to see when the sun is shining directly on it. When we were about to leave, someone in the store put up a handwritten sign that read "If we are busy, please give us a moment." This was while a lady was at the register waiting for a few minutes already to get helped. Naturally, she was not helped by the person behind the counter that put up the sign and walked off. The sea salt jasmine milk tea with boba is my favorite drink at Roasting Water. That being said, the drinks are refreshing and usually fairly consistent. The boba is hit or miss as is the service. During COVID-19 masks and social distancing are enforced fairly strictly. The menu is taped to the window outside, so figure out what you want before you walk in. Maybe snap a photo of it if you have a long drink order. The biggest draw, I think, would be the cute cups with their adorable animal designs. I reuse the few that I have for my hummingbird feeder's sweet water. Funny story about my most recent visit (11/21/20)... a sweet little group of friends were hanging out and asked me to take a photo of them with their little Polaroid camera. I'm pretty sure they were cooler than I was when I was that age (which had to have been like around 16-years-old). This location has quite a bit of free parking within short walking distance, but be forewarned... The Long Beach Towne Center is wildly popular when a lousy pandemic hasn't struck. read more

We went here for the first time. It's a cute little boba spot. I ordered a guava lemonade and an oolong tea. I was truly disappointed in the oolong tea, it tasted like chalky clay. It tasted nothing in comparison to what an oolong tea is supposed to taste like. I asked the worker if I can swap the drink out because we paid for it already and I was told I needed to repurchase for another drink. Truly disappointing after spending money on a drink that tastes like ass. If you come here I highly recommend staying away from any milk teas because they're disgusting and not real milk teas. UPDATE: I received a call and they apologized for not asking me why the drink wasn't good and apologized for not offering a refund or making another drink. These guys are strong though, so I need to learn not to drink it in the afternoon or else I won't be able to sleep that night. I have yet to find a tea or lemonade that I like, but that's just my preference; I know others who really like the lemonades (white peach, mango). But their bottles are cute and comes with their cold drinks and are reusable. So if I ever come out of my way to get drinks here is always for their bottles. They also sell a lot of anime animated stuff like pillows, umbrellas, stationary, etc. the last time I went I bought two demon slayer pillows that I use still today. A little pricey but worth it. Ahhhh. I came from San Diego with my aunt because she really wanted the sailor moon bottles. Oh lord!!!!! We got there on Saturday 2/6/2021 at about 2:58pm. Saw a line and was bummed but figured it would move fast (because since covid-lines just appear longer due to spacing). But OMG-we waited 1 hour before we were able to order!!! And they didn't have a restroom to use. I played games on my phone but on top of the hour wait-we had to wait an additional 30 mins for our drinks. I ordered 4 since we waited so long. And my aunt ordered 6. I did notice most people who came ordered lots of drinks like we did, which was prob why the wait was so long. And they only had two workers from what I saw. I got 3 plain milk teas and one lychee bit drink (that was actually super good with real lychee pieces in there-tasted fresh to me not from the can but who knows). I wouldn't come back here just for a drink with that long wait. The bottle wasn't that cute to me and they only had one style. They did give stickers with each purchase and those were cute. Would prob give it four stars if the wait wasn't so bad. I genuinely feel bad for the workers. They didn't give the best customer service-but I could tell they were exhausted. They need to hire more employees or have a few more workers out to help make drinks. It would speed up the wait time so customers would be happy. We've been coming to this Long Beach Roasting Water location for years, and before today, we were always happy with the drinks, the service, and the adorable bottles. When my kid politely asked them to remake it, 1) they were rude in response, and 2) they returned the 'new' drink suspiciously fast. We both tasted it, and it was even MORE watered down than the first time! Most likely, they had just added water to top it off. So this time, I went in to ask them to *actually* remake it, hoping they'd be more honest with me because I'm an adult, but no. The guy told me that he WOULD NOT remake it because they were almost out of milk tea base, and they had to save it for other customers and stretch it out until the end of their shift. Obviously, they had lied to my kid when they said they 'remade' it the first time. That dishonesty pisses me off waaaay more than receiving a watery drink in the first place. Just be up-front with us instead of gaslighting us and trying to convince us that we got a "new" drink and that it was actually better. And instead of offering to make a different drink that didn't use their limited milk tea base, the guy just wanted to get rid of me, so he said all he could do was refund my money.
