I always liked the food at Roasters and Toasters. I have gone there for breakfast on weekends for years. Today, I decided to order a corned beef sandwich from there for delivery. I was excited to see I would get a free First time free delivery. I had a choice to order a regular sized sandwich or a half pound. I was hungry and I'm from New York, so I ordered the half pound sandwich. When it arrived, I was shocked to see that it looked skimpy. I decided to weigh it on my brand new kitchen scale. I wasn't crazy. A pound is sixteen ounces and a half pound should be eight ounces. My entire sandwich, corned beef, including bread and toothpicks weighed a mere 5.1 ounces. What happened to the additional 2.9 ounces of corned beef? The corned beef was dry and although I requested Russian dressing, I could barely see it. What a disappointment. In addition to the sandwich, I ordered A brownie and four potato pancakes. The potato pancakes were crispy and the brownie @ $5.99 was okay. The sandwich cost $21.98. I feel as if I was overcharged. I know prices have risen since the pandemic, but this wasn't inflation, it was misrepresentation. read more

I've lived in South Florida for years and never tried this little gem! It was so good that I can't wait to go back. I had the SOM omelet with spinach onions and mushrooms and it was so tasty. The server suggested a side of sliced tomatoes and it was the perfect compliment. The omelette was cooked perfectly. The vegetables still had some bite to them and it was huge! A New York Deli type place to eat! The atmosphere even matches it! The Pastrami & Corned Beef Ruben was the BEST! The sauce they add to that sandwich is soooooo freaking tasty The French toast was thick and they served a generous amount of Nutella. I ordered a bagel too bc why not? First time visit and loved our breakfast! I had the Signature Breakfast Sandwich on a plain bagel and it was delicious. Eggs, bacon and bagel were cooked/toasted perfectly and it was VERY filling. The bagels here are SO SO GOOD. They are perfectly toasted and tasty. We got a very traditional breakfast with ham,eggs and cheese and bacon, eggs and cheese with two bagels. The one with bacon was my favorite even though they added chunks of bacon in the eggs and didn't serve us the slices of bacon instead. It's okay. It was still very good!! First thought was "this place is dirty" just based off of no one (manager) saying anything aboht it as it was very obvious yet we were seated by this disgusting mess. As we gathered our thoughts I looked down and all of a sudden a nasty, chunky, erratic roach comes crawinling up from under the eating table!!!!!! We had aboht enough of that dirtiness and jumped up and veered directly out the door. NO THSNK YOU FOR THE ROACH FOOD AND ANIMAL MESS EXPERIENCE! Yuck and no thanks. An extremely disappointing experience. I went there with my daughter for brunch. She ordered 2 eggs with a side of home-fries, a bagel, and a cup of coffee. I chose the eggs Benedict...what a mistake that was. For $14.99 I was served a cold English muffin topped with a salty dry piece of ham (not Canadian bacon), an egg, and SOUR Hollandaise sauce. Also, be warned in advance, this restaurant does not give a check to the patrons to look over before paying. The server enters your order on an electronic pad, inserts your credit card, and then presents you with the total and a screen asking the percentage of gratuity that you wish to leave. We work in the hospitality industry and, although the food was barely edible, we left 20% because the service was good. With tip and tax, our bill came out to over $38. This seemed very high but, with no check to look over and verify for accuracy, we paid and left. It was not until later when we arrived home that we had a chance to add up the prices on these items and realized that we had been ripped-off to the tune of almost $5. Although we used to frequent Roasters' n Toasters quite often, we hadn't been there for quite some time (mostly due to the pandemic) and I genuinely doubt, based upon this experience, that we will ever be going back. read more

Went yesterday for lunch. In one word...shocked! I would probably rate this 2 1/2 stars. Somewhere meh and OK, but Yelp doesn't have that option. I've been coming here since it opened, but I'll admit it's been 6 or 8 months since my last visit. I remember the days when you got there at 12:30 you waited for 20 or 30 minutes. It was part of the character of the restaurant. Well that part of the character is gone. It was only 2/3rds full. We sat down and the first of several parts of the Roasters experience also seems to have died. First, I ordered an iced tea and got a watered down version of what used to be a rich black iced tea. And, when I asked the waiter for a "Sweet and Low" I was advised that they no longer served it. Then the busboy came over and what was used to be a bowl of the best cole slaw and a bowl of pickles has now been reduced to an approximately 2 1/2 ounce single serving of slaw and one pickle per customer. I asked the waiter and he said this was one of several changes they were making and "phasing in." The quality of the food has also changed. The guy I went with got a very sickly looking $17.00+ Reuben Sandwich. I got a soup and 1/2 sandwich. I asked for the soup of the day and was advised it now is always mushroom barley. (No more 5 days, 5 different soups.) I ordered the soup of the day and it arrived warm. (not hot) I ordered the 1/2 turkey sandwich on toasted rye. The turkey was good, the rye wasn't toasted. They now serve condiments in unmarked containers, I can tell you the mustard lacks the richness of the previously served mustard. (cheap!) I guess it's one of those changes "they are phasing in." I doubt I will come back to see what else is "being phased in" as I wish to remember the old days. read more

A New York style deli in Miami? Sure, I'd give it a try. Fort Lauderdale has some good ones, so why wouldn't Miami too? The menu at Roasters 'n Toasters was pretty extensive, so I had high hopes for this place. I'd say that based on what I had, this restaurant was pretty average. I was deciding between the Lox and Onion Scramble and the Nova and Onion Scramble, and learned that the difference between lox and nova is that the former is salty and the latter not. Since I generally prefer some flavor to my food, I ordered the Lox Scramble. What came out was a salty, average pile of eggs, onion, and salmon. The dish was so salty that I didn't really enjoy eating it and definitely wouldn't order it again. The dish came with a choice of side and also carb (toast or bagel) and I ordered grits and white toast. The grits were decent -- they had a subtle buttery taste -- and I asked for brown sugar on the side. They were also a reasonably warm temperature, just right for eating. Sadly though, the grits were the highlight of that meal. The bread came out toasted, but it wasn't very warm or crispy by the time I took my first bite. I will say, however, the cole slaw for the table, served complimentarily, tasted great, with not too much mayo or other sauces drowning it. Way over priced! Went to the Pinecrest location for breakfast. My wife and I ordered two lox bagels. Bagels came out 10 minutes before the lox. The lox was skimpy and barely covered the bagels. Coffee was terrible - maybe the worst that I've had in recent memory. Total for those two bagels and coffee was $45 - nuts! With tip this was the most expensive/worst breakfast that we've had in a while. Won't ever go back. Beware. read more

Let me say that when I wanna have a great bagel with a huge delicious omelette, this is it. You may have to wait 20-30 mins, but it soooooo worth it. Once in, they bring your coffee out quickly and you have a large selection of NY deli style sandwiches, omelettes, pancakes, and other kosher food. I always get the omelette that comes with 3 choices inside plus hash browns, and a tasty fresh bagel ($14). I'm 6'1, 230 lbs., and that plate can easily feed two. It's no easy task to finish it, but it's completely amazing. Best non-Latin breakfast spot in Pinecrest and Kendall hands down, so do yourself a favor and go. read more

The main reason we go is because there is this fantastic server named Ivan. He is absolutely wonderful. He immediately takes care of us, makes sure everything is done perfectly, refills coffee constantly, and even chats now and then, if he is not too busy.
