Roasters on Lenox is an Atlanta staple. The restaurant is famous for their roast chicken. They serve other items as well but that's why you go here. I ordered the salad with rotisserie chicken to go. The food was ready in 5-10 minutes. The portion was big and the biscuit was delicious! I'd go back and try more of their sides. read more

The absolute BEST chicken chili on the planet! You can never go wrong ordering it from any location! Wonderful rotisserie chicken:whole, Hal, or quartered. Food travels well. Pack a bit of your patients, as it does take a bit of time to recover your order... but well worth the wait! read more

To start, you should know that I am a Country Fried Steak fiend. Like, if I had to make a last meal request for some odd reason, it would most certainly be Country Fried Steak, fried okra, mac-n-cheese, a corn muffin and sweet tea. So, with that being said...this is exactly what I get when I come to Roasters, without fail, every time. And it is so dang good every single time! To start, Roasters is located in a small shopping center on Lenox Road that features a sushi place, taco place and a few other random businesses. Roasters sits on the end and directly on Lenox Road and features a decent size indoor seating dining room and a decent size covered patio. I have had the pleasure of dining on both and they are equally suitable to devour a plate of southern food on. I will say that I was consistently looking for a solid, well priced, casual southern food joint and I have definitely found it in Roasters. As previously mentioned, my go-to is the Country Fried Steak. Here it is priced at $11.99 and comes with 2 sides...but really it comes with 3 bc it is served on a bed of mashed potatoes! I always go with the staples for me of friend okra and mac-n-cheese. Neither of which ever disappoint. Prior to your meal being delivered, they provide the table biscuits and/or corn muffins with butter. Just get them both and enjoy, as they are delivered hot and fresh each time! Additionally, be prepared to take a to-go box home with you, as the servings are quite large for the price! Overall, Roasters is a solid choice for southern food in Buckhead and shoot, all of Atlanta. Don't fret if you aren't a big southern cuisine aficionado, they have a massive menu with everything from hot dogs to quesadillas. Simply put, you will find something you like! Go. Just do it. I promise you will enjoy it! read more

We ordered take out for Sunday brunch, which we thought it would be crowded. It was not. We got: The chicken tenders with black eyed peas and broccoli/cauliflower casserole. The chicken fingers are like fish and chip type of fried chicken tenders. They are beer battered which I was pleasantly surprised by! The portions were a little small though. The fingers were a little bigger than nuggets but definitely not your typical tender sized. Casserole was cheesy and delicious. Black eyed peas were tasty as well! The salt and seasoning they used helped. Rotisserie chicken fingers with Mac and cheese, and spinach. This was okay. Again, portions were a little smaller than I thought they would be. Mac and cheese was good. Tasted similar to the broccoli/cauliflower casserole except without carbs :). Spinach was, well spinach. Overall, good food with a little smaller sized portion. The staff was very friendly during my interaction which is definitely a big plus in my book. I'd say 8 Gryffindor points out of 10. read more

Food was decent - not stellar. Service was - well, essentially non existent. She took our order and came back ONE time. Never came to see if we needed anything. I saw her outside talking for over 20 min. Lastly, she waited until the end of the meal to tell us that tuhe rolls/cornbread now costs money vs complimentary. Literally- worst experience there is 25 years!!! Not itching to go back read more

TERRIFIC!! Ordered takeout to get our good luck New Year's black eye peas, greens, ham and cornbread. Also got the rotisserie chicken, fries green tomatoes, sweet potato casserole, broccoli/ cauliflower, the Santa Fe plate, cucumber salad and cornbread. All delicious!! Food was ready quickly and the portions are huge. We just ate breakfast/ lunch and still have tons leftover for dinner! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. read more

I think this place deserves a solid 3.5. The food was ok, but not phenomenal. But they do give you some pretty gigantic portions for incredibly reasonable prices. We all took home half of our food. My mom got chicken and brisket. She said it was good but the brisket was really fatty. My dad and I both got the special, which was basically a bacon burger on sourdough bread. Nothing special, but it popped once we added tobacco sauce on it. I got broccoli cauliflower casserole on the side and he opted for fried okra. Also, our server was soooo sweet. She really made the experience better. Also, I loved that how all the staff members were properly masked. read more

Was expecting more. My service was great. I didn't get my waiter's name though. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it literally tasted like an unseasoned and oversized chicken tender. The sides were trash. Corn tasted canned and it was watery. The dressing/cornbread stuffing tasted boxed and it was extremely soft/moist. I like mine a little thicker consistency that has a bit of chew. I ordered the soup upcharge side. The white bean chili soup. It was ok when you first bite into it with the cheesy layer then it falls downhill from there. That's all I got. Won't be back. read more

Heads up: this place is very busy during lunch hours. The little plaza has quite a few businesses, restaurants, shops, and studios - parking is limited. I recommend carpooling if going with a group. The combo plate comes with a lot of food. Absolutely enough to split into 2 good-sized meals. You choose 2 meats (ex. BBQ chicken, brisket, wings, ribs, pulled pork, etc) and 2 sides. If you're as indecisive as I am when it comes to ordering, prepare yourself in advance for the TWENTY-SIX, yes 26, different sides you can choose from. The food is very good. It's nothing special, but you can count on it being good each time you go. The menu is general 'American' fare: chicken fingers, ribs and chicken, french fried, sandwiches, soups and salads. I heard about this place for over a year before trying it. Worth the recommendation. For a good filling meal, the prices are reasonable considering the area. It's right down the street from Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, so if you're in the area - stop in for a bite! read more

Ate at Roaster's tonight at Lenox. The ribs were terrible - overcooked and dry. I said something to the waitress and she was nice but the manager never came over. This is a solid spot for some good home cooking style food. The restaurant is close to my office and reasonably priced so it's great fit a team lunch. I'm in the small minority of people who do not think this place is that great. I got the veggie plate with Lima beans, dressing, green beans, and broccoli/cauliflower casserole. I added the sweet potato soufflé. The Lima beans tasted weird; I can't explain it. The dressing was entirely too sweet. The green beans tasted like they were straight from a can. The casserole was fine. The soufflé left much to be desired. The best thing was the cornbread and roll, which is what bumped it up from one star. I won't be coming back. read more

We were visiting Atlanta for the first time and Yelped places to eat. Based on the reviews and pictures posted from previous customers , we took our chances and we are so glad we did! There is a large variety of food to choose from and over twenty sides! As a family of four (two kids) we each got different meats and sides. All was delicious! The staff was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. The price was very reasonable especially for the amount of food you get. I would highly recommend! I just had one of the worst meals of my life. The special was a fish fry flounder and shrimp. What I got was a luke warm overcooked pile of formerly frozen marine life. The fries were also cold and rubbery. The coleslaw looked like it had been left uncovered in a fridge and was also warm. My server was told the food was not good but she offered no action to better the situation. Not going back anymore. There's better meals frozen at the grocery store. read more

I don't know how they are still open. The food here had to be the worst I've had here ever. Been going here for years but ever since the pandemic it's been bad. I ordered a veggie plate. The green beans were cold and tasted like they came from a can with no seasoning. The macaroni looked like Kraft but tasted worst. The broccoli cauliflower casserole looked like they scraped the bottom of the pot and gave me every thing that resembled slop . The sweet potato soufflé was the best of everything. I also ordered a spinach dip that was the consistency of mashed potatoes for $17. for their sake, I hope it wasn't off day because I would never recommend this place. read more

The best food and nicest servers. Always a favorite in Atlanta. I really like the chicken fingers here but everything is good.

I was looking for fried chicken and Google told me to come here. The name made me think that it was not a fried chicken place but maybe the have fries chicken on the menu. They did not. They did practice social distancing and they did wear masks, offer sanitizer and ask that customers wear their masks by using a sign on the door. To me, the chicken was a little overcooked. It was seasoned okay, nothing that stood out though. The mac & cheese was lackluster and the fried okra was your everyday fried okra. The owner did give me a card to come back for a free dessert but I'm not sure if I'm going to use it. I take my desserts very seriously and if I'm going to get the same quality dessert as I the meal, I think I'll pass. read more

Roasters - Roasted chicken, fried okra and macaroni & cheese. - Southern Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

Food came to me unseasoned , cold and tasted like it's been sitting out all day I'm very unpleased by that food

The food here is fantastic. Take out is what most people get, and its great, but the sit down service is very attentive. The corn bread is top notch, sweat, crusty, and buttery. The rolls are better than average. The large variety of classic southern sides is incredible. Some stand outs for me are the pan fried apples and the sweet potato casserole. (They call them slightly different names tho) The tenders were probably my least favorite thing here. They use the same breading as they do on their country fried chicken, and it works gloriously on that, but is a bit too thick on the tenders. Still good tho. The rotisserie chicken is the main star. Its roasted to perfection, and their house bbq sauce is perfectly crafted for it. Great value and great food. read more

Yes, I will give them a 5! Never disappointed. Food is great. Staff is amazing. All in all, great deal.

Amazing food, great chicken, super nice servers. Cool interior with a relaxed vibe; would absolutely come back.

It was my first time here, and it was SUPER hyped up, so I was worried. But since I was also starving, was hoping that would even out the playing field... The bread came out nice and warm. I loved the corn bread, though the rolls were better! I ordered rotisserie chicken, 1/2 dark. It was amazing. Juicy and tender, that's how I like it! I ordered the sweet potato souffle and the creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was just right, not too salty but not flavorless. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the souffle although it was pretty good. Too sweet for me with this salty meal~ Overall I really liked it. I definitely want to try other options sometime. read more

Literally the best kept secret over in Buckhead! I have looked for some place to eat in the Buckhead area that offers real food and good veggies. I hit the jackpot with Roasters! Walking into the restaurant, you can smell the the sweet aroma of well seasoned meat and freshly cooked veggies. I dined on chicken fried steak, collard greens, sweet potato soufflé and spinach dip I could only eat maybe a fourth of all of that. It it was super fresh, delicious, and pretty amazing overall. My waitress was super sweet and very attentive. This restaurant is easily one of new favorites and they will be seeing more of me on a regular basis. read more

Roasters has been a mainstay for me as a convenient, good-food eatery for over 15 years. Commuting between downtown and the perimeter, it's a good mid-point meeting place for a quick bite. The ambience has gone a bit "restaurant-corporate" (in the early days this location will filled with photos of past diners - lining every booth along the walls). Above said photos used to hang works by local artists (for sale!) - all that's gone now and replaced by "found" decorative items and modern pendant lighting (I can understand that once they expanded they needed some brand consistency). Other than that the food and service have been regularly good for all the many years I've visited this location. I'm torn in my food recommendations - I used to get the pork ribs fairly often - no smokiness so I don't consider this a real BBQ joint, but they do fall off the bone (they're very similar to those served in one of the first restaurants I ever worked in, Buster Muggs in Knoxville, TN - steamed for tenderness then finished off on a grill). I really like their BBQ sauce - sweet and spicy and unlike anyone else's. If you get the Ribs and Chicken plate you get a quarter slab plus a breast or leg (I usually get the white meat). Speaking of the chicken, Roasters is really known for their rotisserie and serves up a tender yard bird. If you're in doubt, get something with the chicken in it and you can't go wrong. I only mention doubt as the menu has may delectable items on it. I especially like the turkey plate (slices of turkey on homemade dressing with gravy and two veggies). Most if not all of their sides are made in house - the green beans are a favorite of mine and the broccoli-cauliflower cheese casserole is what I order when I want comfort food. The plates also come with a bread basket - the corn-bread muffins are excellent, but on the sweet side (I like sweet but if you don't be forewarned). Slather on a bit of butter and you don't need dessert (but if you still want to sample, the peach cobbler ala mode is fantastic!). I was dining at Roasters early in 2010 and a guy came up to me and said - "Hey you're name is John isn't it?" - turned out he remembered working with me in the late 80's at the Buckhead Diner - he was washing dishes and I was working Saute on the line and somehow he recognized me (back then I had hair pulled into a ponytail halfway down my back - I guess other than the hair I haven't changed much). read more

Really heartbreaking to say this, but this restaurant has chosen to squeeze their patrons for every penny to the point that it is insulting. They raised all prices on the menu by $1-2 which is completely understandable. But immediately after enacting the new prices, they have begun other practices as well. Free complimentary cornbreads and rolls? Nope - now 65¢ each. Want two dipping sauces for your chicken tenders? You'll pay 50¢ for that second sauce. Are you walking in the heat and wanna pop in for a glass of water? That'll be $1 at the bar. The food is tasty and the servers are kind and courteous (shout out to Bree and Brendan and Isaac), but when your bill is suddenly $8 more just because you ordered bread for the table of 6 and a couple of sauces for your chicken is really steep and leaves a bad impression on patrons. To be noted, though the bread charge is on a note on the tables, none of the other surcharges are notated anywhere on the menu. So it truly is a surprise at checkout and it's noticeable in the lack of clientele. I'm currently writing this on their empty patio on a lovely Friday evening at 6:20pm (dinner rush) and the only tables here are my party of 3 and a party of 5. Inside, there are 4 tables. And barely any takeout orders going out either. Really sad to see this establishment drowning. read more

Omg, how did I not know about this place? It's been here for 30 years and I've never heard of it! Everything we ordered was delicious! From the spinach dip to the barbecue ribs, we loved it all! We both had Sangrias in these huge gobblers (Red & Peach), I couldn't even finish mine....I swear everytime I took a sip, someone was adding to it. Lol.... the tortilla chips for our dip were baked fresh. The cornbread is absolutely amazing. It was a lot of food, so much that I have enough for lunch tomorrow. This location is in a strip mall on Lenox Rd, about a mile south of Lenox Mall. It's a real low-key place, so wear anything. Very diverse crowd.... great staff.
