Kate takes such wonderful care of my elderly mom during her manicures and pedicures. She's incredibly gentle, patient, and always makes sure my mom is comfortable and well cared for. My original lady that does my nails seemed to be in a big hurry this evening. It took her about 25 minutes to do my pedi that I upgraded. It was too fast & my ties don't look very good. Then she did my nails quickly and there were two crooked ones and she filed them like coffin's her self. Didn't ask me. She kept looking at her watch obviously she had plans. I told her to stop, she did. I have an appointment in the morning and I cannot go withy nails looking like this. She does my nails the same way every time I don't know why she wanted to do it different this time? So, I have to go back in the morning to get them taken off and redone! Oh My God. None of these Asian nail techs are apparently legit . Not only did they give mail fungus to three of my colleagues but , they really caused me much damage. And what's worse, They speak in Vietnamese and gossip poorly about every ethnic ( blacks and Mexican descendants ). I speak over 12 languages and over 10 dialects, so I was fully aware as an American Greek female , who works for the USA government , what these shady incompetent and unlicensed little tools were spewing with one another. Apparently, in the past, they've been found grossly negligent and severely fined for hiring undocumented girls how to do nails and provide a pedicure. But lied and practiced as though each tech was Liscensed. But they weren't. Regardless, they continue to provide disgusting and inept services. I was booked with this individual named," "Linda" who after 3 hours of needing to only fill my nails , delivered the most grotesque , crooked and misshaped set of nails I had ever witnessed. I refused to pay & called my husband, whose not only an attorney but the DA himself , to assess their entire illegitimate operation . Folks beware you are having your nails done with an inexperienced & unlicensed NAIL TECHNICIAN so it's whatever goes there - do , don't be surprised when you find out ," they practice like yes the wild Wild West!" read more

Horrible experience today. I have been a long time customer of Kate's. I called Friday to make an appointment for 1pm for Sunday. The owner either didn't hear that I said Sunday or misunderstood. So my tech had someone there already and someone else waiting. The owner was downright nasty and screeched at me and showed me where I was supposedly a no show on Friday. Forget about the customer is always right; she would not even think it was her error. She showed me where she had crossed out my name and huffed off. And my tech was complaining about me no showing to her customer. I had gone there for 3 years steadily. If they treat a loyal, long term customer like that, imagine how they will treat new customers if there is a miscommunication. Too many good nail places to go to instead of Roanoke nails! read more

I give them 0 stars. They have terrible customer service. They refused to give me a refund (even after they told me they would). The 2 ladies "in charge" said they didn't know how to give a refund but refused to call the owner to ask him how to process the refund. How does a reputable business leave 2 people in charge who can't even give a refund? Or is it that they just don't want to give the refund? read more

I actually visited Roanoke Nails & Spa two years ago when I was in the area for a wedding (I forgot to do my review then, whoops). Anyway, I'm so thankful they accept walk-ins since I needed to have my nails done for the wedding I was attending the following day. The customer service here was amazing. I was greeted upon arriving and asked what service I wanted to be done. They were very friendly and easy to talk to. Compared to California, their prices are pretty reasonable for the service you receive. I nails came out beautiful! I normally have my nails fairly short, so I wanted something a bit different for the wedding. Mission accomplish. My ombre manicure was done just the way I wanted it. I usually do an acrylic fill and gel pedicure, which I love that they will do both at once and save time. Got a pedicure and dip nails today. 'Manager' seemed ok. I told her it was my first time. Didn't seem to care to say welcome or explain their procedures (fill out the form, etc). 'Manager' started the message chair and filled the water. Message feature stopped soon after it started. Struggled to restart it myself, but gave up. Therefore, can't say they were super comfortable chairs. Possibly due to no message and having to lean over to have finger nails done at the same time as pedicure. Pedicure person came over. Never introduced herself. Just started in. Found out later when a regular customer came in and said her name. "Crystal". Got the upgrade with hot stones. Wouldn't recommend these. The stones were barely warm. Overall a very standard pedicure. No real effort put into the pedicure, especially for an upgrade. When I got home, I didn't realize how poorly the nail polish was applied. Uneven and sloppy. I think once Crystal saw her regular, she rushed the rest. Meanwhile, had the manicure at the same time. Did the dip with Vivian. She was pleasant, but had to ask her name too. Dip was good. I did bleed in one of my cuticles, she tried to cover up with dip powder. Disinfected when I got home. I'm hoping it doesn't cause me problems. Don't think it was her fault either. I probably won't be back tho. Too many other nail salons to try in the area. read more

While he was removing her calluses he shamed my mother: gave dirty looks, shook his head, made a comparison between my feet and hers, and said "oh my god." honestly the worst nail solan i've ever been to, i went here just to get my acrylics soaked off and i was in there for over an hour and a half! none of their nail files or buffers or anything were clean or sanitized, the nail techs were leaving other clients in order to help me for a few minutes then going back to their other clients without washing their hands in between. by the time i left i still had layers of acrylic in my nails. I have been going to this salon for a few years and finally had to stop going. They lose their best techs regularly. The last one I went to was very rude, abrasive and downright insulting. I had enough and moved to a place that treats their customers nice and are welcoming and accommodating. Do not ever go to Crystal. She does not treat her customers well at all. She was extremely rude to me, and I had been a customer for awhile. And yes, like one other reviewer said, you always feel that the techs are talking about you in their own language, very rude.
