We are driving from Memphis to San Diego and just happened up on this amazing place. How lucky! The ribs were literally falling off the bone!!! Miss Jan makes them with wood they get off of her land. No charcoal or lighter fluid. The Cole slaw, which is also amazing, is her own recipe. I can't wait til we come back through! read more

Great BBQ for a roadside stop. Don't expect fancy accommodations or a fancy interior; this is a hole-in-the-wall akin to what you'd find around New Orleans. Owned and operated by lovely people with pretty good service. The primary complaints I have is that the fries could be pizzaz'd up with a bit of paprika and onion powder as they are rather plain, and it was very smokey inside. Otherwise? Perfect for a stop that isn't a chain food place! read more

Good lunch stop between Little Rock and Memphis if you're looking for something beyond chains and gas stations. Good portions and GREAT prices. A sausage sandwich is only $3.50! The rib tips combo is under $10 and is a lot of food. We ordered six items for around $35. Our favorites were the chicken strips, sausage sandwich, and rib tips. The masks signs on the door talk a big game but thankfully it's not enforced. I haven't worn a mask in so long I completely forgot to bring one on our trip! The service is friendly and the food is good. Not knock-your-socks off good, but good, and a whole lot better than that Subway in the Loves you almost ate at. read more

Excellent meal and excellent, friendly service. We ordered the fried catfish and pork barbecue plates. Both entrées were delicious as well as the coleslaw, potato salad, and baked beans. When we passed this on a road trip we were really hoping it would be a hole in the wall - SCORE! Our food was excellent, it came out right away. I got the half-rack rib plate with beans and fries. The beans were out of a can and the crinkle cut fries were certainly a frozen product. HOWEVER, the ribs were very tender "fall of the bone". They are spare ribs which I'm always a fan of when done right. It has a hole in the wall feel. It seems to be run by a family and you could feel the love and care from the "grandma" at the register. I say "grandma" because the young man that brought us our food referred to her as such. Everyone was kind and helpful and there was we constant customers and to-go orders flowing in. I'd definitely come back anytime I'm in the area. Best barbecue ever? No, but it is darn good barbecue made with love and care, and for the price and portions it's well worth a stop. read more

Delicious food. We came in about 40 minutes before closing and we're welcomed by a friendly face. My husband had the rib dinner with coleslaw and fries and sucked it down. Spare ribs not baby back but he said they were very good. I had the rib tip dinner with potato salad and baked beans and it was tender and delicious. Of course had to have a piece of sweet potato pie! Yummmm Don't skip this spot. read more

Skip the chains and dive into real home style west Memphis BBQ! This place is the real deal! And a good deal: great value for the money- portions were excellent. We stopped for lunch and ended up buying dinner as well to take along in our camper van. Everything from bbq chicken to catfish was top notched, tasking like home cooking and sooo satisfying. TRUCKER FRIENDLY!!! Easily the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Service was amazing and our food came out very fast. The building is an old hole in the wall (like literally there are holes in the wall) but let me tell you if their business looks like that, it's either going to be terrible or it's gonna change your life and let me tell you this place change my perspective on good BBQ forever. Stopped here coming back from Little Rock. The exterior is a bit dilapidated and the interior needs some sprucing up as well. But don't let those minor issues stop you from eating here. The bar-b-que pork is absolutely delicious and they give you a more than generous helping. Coleslaw and potato salad also excellent. The food is great. The owner is very friendly and gracious. A pleasure to interact with. Very proud of her product as she should be. She will dote on you to make sure you like what you're eating and ask if there's anything else you need. Very nice lady. The food is excellent here, especially the catfish. It's a small--but clean--location with a few outside tables. The service was a hard to describe. We chocked it up to fatigue and heat, so nothing too off-putting; "welcoming" would be an overstatement. read more

On our way to NC from Texas made our lunch stop here. I was hesitant on BBQ outside of home but the reviews here raved! Definitely little hole in the wall but that's never stopped me. Very straight forward menu. Decided on the pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans and potato salad. The sides were phenomenal. The sandwich was sauced and sloppy. The coleslaw didn't really come through on it. Ended with a sweet potato pie. Id recommend the sauce on the side for sandwiches to avoid eating half of it with a fork. Maybe take it to go the inside dining experience was stale. read more

Road tripping on our way to Atlanta. Read the reviews and thought it was worth a shot. It was. The ribs were fall of the bone perfect. Green beans great, fries were like Braums (in Oklahoma), smoked sausage was outstanding, chopped beef sandwich delicious and the pulled pork was pretty good. Sauce was great. As we pulled in to the parking lot at 11am on a Friday I thought for sure they were closed down. The sign in the window said otherwise. When we walked in the walls were filled with graffiti. We strolled up the counter placed our order and hoped the reviews were right. And boy were they ever! The chopped pork sandwich was cooked to perfection and the mild sauce was delicious. Now on to my husband's rib plate with coleslaw. Tender and not very smoky the best was the hot BBQ sauce by far! The sweet heat lingers well after the meal is complete. We stopped for lunch at Roadside Bbq while traveling from Indiana. We read reviews on Yelp before stopping. The food had good reviews but the place was referred to a hole in the wall. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was very clean and the food was great! I highly recommend both the bbq beef and bbq chicken plate. Having heard good things about Roadside, I ventured across the Mississippi into Arkansas for a Barbecue excursion. This is definitely a family place. It's a BBQ joint, in the best sense of the word. I ordered a Pulled Pork Plate with Spaghetti and Beans, as well as the half-order of Pork Ribs. The best thing at Roadside is the Sauce. I had a mix of mild/hot and it was still fairly mild. It was delicious. The beans were ok, but needed a little bit extra. Maybe I'll put some of the hot BBQ sauce in them when I go back. The Spaghetti was plain Spaghetti----I thought it would be BBQ Spaghetti. I'm not complainin', just explainin'. I soon realized why----they sell a lot of Catfish here, and people like Spaghetti on the side of their fried fish. It would be too much work to have 2 kinds of Spaghetti in one place. The Pork and Ribs were very tender. The absence of a smoke ring concerned me, as that usually means my food was cooked previously (which it was), but it was still very good. Next time that I go, I'll try to go later in the week, and later in the day---- in hopes of getting pork that has the texture that I look for, because the flavor was spot-on. That sauce would be good on anything. The family that runs Roadside is very friendly. I had a nice conversation with the Son as I waited for my food. He played ball at Arkansas, so we had a nice talk about football. Good Barbecue and SEC football are the two things that cross cultural barriers in the South. Pig and Pigskin accomplish what nothing else can---- go to Roadside and experience it for yourself. read more

Good ribs - sauce is more sweet than spicy (medium sauce). Green beans were not the best tasting. Generic French fries - crinkled deep fried fries. They were trying to figure out where the chicken was when we first tried to order barbecued chicken (couldn't order chicken). The place looks like a run down house with holes in the wall, literally, and shoddy ceiling fans with tagging on them. Tagging is all over the walls. Cushioned seats and large cafeteria style tables. Restrooms were clean but same run down appearance. Seems safe enough ... Rating is primarily based on the food - the facility is questionable at best. read more

This place was bomb! Driving West, forgot to stop for barbeque in Memphis. Found this spot just outside West Memphis on I-40. I had the pork sandwich with half mild, half spicy sauce. It was perfect. Takeout only due to COVID, so I ate on a table outside. Got sauce all over my face, licked the foil wrapper. Damn. Can't recommend this enough. Staff was so sweet. read more

I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything. After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

Bbq dry baby backs were amazing, smoked turkey and pulled pork to die for! We also tried fried catfish, also very good. No boring grits here, a bit spicy, enough to make it memorable. I always want to be overly nice when giving a review, but outside of the staff there is nothing I could remotely recommend. Heard another customer next to us look our way and say he "wouldn't even feed this to their dog" (pointing at us). How are they still opening locations? It was brutal, even for a chain bbq joint.

I once had them cook-up a cheeseburger for me, but was woefully disappointed that the chef was actively smoking a cigarette while making my food!* This was way too "old school" for me, and made for the disgusting ambiance of polluted indoor air. (* If you dislike cigarette smoking, I would instead recommend going elsewhere: Just over five miles west, on U.S. Highway 70 in Shell Lake, is Lakeside Grocery / Citgo gas station (I-40 Exit 260).
