I'm so glad I found this place! The people are friendly and the drinks are strong and cheap. I really enjoyed the karaoke. It wasn't so crowded, and most of the singers were pretty good. The audience is supportive and non-judgmental, so newbie singers can relax and have fun. Highly recommend! Great local dive bar. read more

Best dive bar- The RR has been a local watering hole since long before old town was a party destination. They serve up the strongest-cheapest drink in Scottsdale. No food, just booze. Thursday afternoon you can catch a great jam session with various local musicians. read more

Hard pass on this place with hosting Bill Lowry. The bar's management seems oblivious or unconcerned about platforming artists with such views, which says a lot about their priorities. I strongly recommend avoiding The Roadrunner Lounge if they continue hosting performers like Bill Lowery. There are plenty of other spots in town that foster positive vibes without the baggage. Came in after a particularly rough day. The bartender, Tatum, immediately clocked it and asked me about it, while displaying empathy and compassion. She even offered to buy me my first drink. She made me feel seen, safe, welcome, and warm. My terrible day melted away before I even took a sip of my drink. Be like Tatum, and if you see her here, tip the shit out of her. read more

Personable bartenders, awesome people, and the cheapest drinks and best drink drinks around.

Small dive bar, but the bartenders and staff are really welcoming. If you want a good experience in a quaint bar, this is your place. They have several deals advertised on drinks and one pool table. Very well decorated. read more

Yes. What a nice dive bar in the Dale. Loved coming here and posting up at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and inviting and could tell we weren't from there. We just had 2 drinks as we wanted to dip to another joint but this place is a good time. The locals def show up here and what I appreciate is it's not cash only as it looks like a place that could be. Plenty of parking is available just be careful pulling out as that road is dark since their no street lamps in front!! read more

Got charged 15 dollars for one beer and the bartender was extraordinarily rude and absent from the bar. There were kids under 10 running around drinking with their parents. I normally go here every Friday night and I'm never coming back after the Sunday lunch beer I had today. Not a fun dive bar. Just a sad gross bar held up by the 12 locals that sleep here. On the flip-side, if you're looking for hepatitis (of any kind), this is probably right up your alley. read more

Seems like you'll pay a different price depending on whomever works that night. The bar is a cool laid back place but it's more of a one time spot that doesn't necessarily warrant a second visit. Some of the staff offer great service others offer attitude. They don't have food but do offer a few snacks, board games, karaoke and even live music sometimes so if your in the mood to gamble with your evening give it try since night is clearly a crapshoot. good luck... read more

The Roadrunner is a hidden gem near Old Town Scottsdale with affordable drinks, a good pour and all the dive bar charm! No food, just drinks and a smoking patio as well. Drop your attitude at the door and you will have an amazing time. The best part about the runner is the bartenders! My boyfriend and I love Cori, Sonia and Jeanine. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and they run a tight ship! I highly recommend going to see these ladies when you want to have a drink and a great time. read more

Dive bar. Laughs. Anything goes. Singing. Leave your worries outside. Get great advice. Meeting really cool people and dogs.

If you like dives, this is your place. The second you walk in, You have to walk around a large snack machine, so please don't hold unrealistic expectations. Inside of that vending machine is microwaveable popcorn, and yes, they let you use their microwave. They will even let you bring food in. The drinks are as cheap as the come in the area. Some other posters have complained about the regulars, but I have never had an issue and get along great with the bartender. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely for those up for an adventure! read more

Most definitely the best dive bar in Scottsdale. People here don't give af what you do they just want to chill

Well went to the Roadrunner and my usual bartender Sherry wasn't anywhere to be found. I guess she doesn't work there anymore which is a bummer. The new staff doesn't have me wanting to return. Hope that management can get some higher energy help in the future. read more

Food: A snack machine. It's a dive bar; embrace it! Service: Prompt and courteous. Every bartender is great. Only one bartender is working at a time; each handles a packed house very well. What to expect: It's a charming hole in the wall. Most are wearing t-shirt/tank top and jeans/shorts. Well stocked bar. Very reasonable prices. Pool table. Jukebox. Sports on its TVs. Signs for it aren't visible while driving on Hayden Rd; trust your navigation app in your car or phone. Thursday Karaoke draws a just-be-yourself crowd; if you can't have 2 beers without being rude to women or L G B T Q +, find somewhere else to drink. read more

5 starts IF you want to have a drink in an ashtray. Love dive bars but this is homeless encampment with a door.

A refreshing break from the BS that is scottsdale. Roadrunner is a quiet hole in the wall classic dive with cheap drinks and friendly staff. An honest, family owned business with many regulars and drifters alike. They have a pool table and table top arcade games as well as many board games. There is a lot of history in their place and the atmosphere is very charming. read more

Welcome to your classic Scottsdale dive bar. Upon entry, bar to the right, tables to your left. Towards the back you'll find arcade games, darts, TVs and a pool table too. The biggest selling point is the patio in the back that features several places to sit and opens up into the huge alley which doubles as a parking lot; triples as a restroom for some patrons. Drinks are cheap and the bartenders are always in good spirits. You'll meet some interesting folk here on any given night, so don't be afraid to crack open some conversation along with your beer. I can't think of a dive bar that I've frequented more in Scottsdale than Roadrunner. read more

I'm officially in love with this bar. Drinks are so cheap, it's mind-boggling. I actually had to get package booze to-go so I could use my credit card to make the $10 minimum! You can order food from Little Chicago Pizza - which is in the same strip mall - and they'll deliver it to you at the Roadrunner. It's super-dark, nicely air-conditioned, with pool table, darts, juke box, and the requisite sports on tv. The bartender was fantastic, and the patrons were friendly. I recommend riding your bike or taking a taxi - the drinks are seriously that cheap. read more

I know its gonna sound a bit foolish when I divulge that I was actually a bit scared to enter the Roadrunner Lounge, but the truth is that I was. Due to its lack of windows and barebones facade, I concluded that this bar had the possibility of being the sort of place where, when I opened the door, I might bare witness to a mob boss or two trying to decide what they should do with the man they just shot... but that wasn't the case. What I discovered was a long corridor flanked by mirrored walls and strings of multicolored lights, as well as ample seating and classic video games to boot. The games included PacMan and Golden Tee, accompanied by a dartboard and a pool table - enough to keep the gamer in any of us busy for at least a few hours of drink-sippin. The drinks were cheap and strong, and the tunes were decent - however the digital jukebox put a frown on my face; I hoped for a Wurlitzer. Our barkeep was friendly and efficient, and our drinks were strong and low-priced. I think tap beer's only two bucks, and mixers aren't too much more. In conclusion, the next time you're feeling a bit nostalgic, and you're looking for a watering hole off the beaten path, kick a few back at the Roadrunner. Bottom's up! read more

This is the epitome of dive. Smoky, dark and chill. No food just really strong drinks. Though I was bummed they only carry 1800 and not Reposado. This bar is a classic in a town of pretentiousness. Where else can you go grab shots and cocktails under $20? And we drink like thirsty camels my friends, it's the desert. Leave your ego in the parking lot, chill out and have good convo with cool people. It's the kind of bar you want to stumble out of at 2am without the body glitter to get you in trouble. My kind of hallpass. read more

This place was terrifying to me. I did not feel welcome whatsoever. I came in and it took a pretty damn long time for me to place a drink order and then it took even longer to get the bartender to process my payment so I could get the hell out of there. The bartender wasn't rude to us at all. Just indifferent. I still felt like she hated me, though, and did a good job of masking it. If a magical being granted her the ability to do something without any negative effects of it while I was at that bar, she would have chosen to put a cigarette out on my face. The two gentleman sitting at the bar next to me both sounded like Billy Bob Thornton from Slingblade and kept saying the words, "faggot" "cocksucker" and "brown chick." I was wearing purple shorts and a tanktop and I was with my Mexican girlfriend so it's kind of impossible to think they weren't talking about us. Who knows, though, they had rotten hillbilly teeth and I couldn't understand much else that they said. Still, man, my drink was stiff and cheap and I got kind of drunk off of one. If this place was dead I'd like it much more. I mostly just am terrified of the clientele. I liked the booze and I was okay with the bartender who was slow to take my order and may have or may not have wanted to burn my face with a cigarette. read more

Behold, the anti-Scottsdale!!! This is a splendid dive away from it all with great bartenders and a "no one gives a shit" vibe. You won't believe you're in Scottsdale. I actually came here after a few drinks in Old Town so I was a little overdressed but please reference my first sentence. The drinks are cheap and strong- I thought my third vodka soda was going to knock me on my ass. The narrow bar area opens up to a gaming area with darts and a pool table and a nice smoking patio out back. The crowd are laid back and down to earth. You can come here with a group of friends, get shit-faced and split a cab for dirt cheap. Guaranteed good times and probably bad behavior. read more

They've got $5 ketel one on the rocks. It's walking/stumbling distance from my apartment. It might be the least pretentious bar in the Old Town vicinity. The only downside is you can really smell the cigarette smoke wafting in from the patio (and lingering on what seems to be most of the patrons here, who btw have an average age of 50), and I can't stand the smell of it. You get used to it after a while, and tend to forget about it after a few of the super cheap drinks. Well vodka drinks are only $3! On a Saturday night! I could get used to this... Oh, and the bartenders are chill and awesome. I will be back! read more

Driven by a couple times and finally made plans to get a beer at the Roadrunner. It was nice and exactly what my friend and I were looking for, a quiet place where we could talk without a fedora or black rimmed glasses in sight. The bartender was nice and the feel of the place was indifferent, which was great since everyone kept to their own business. We only had one crazy guy kind of follow me and my girl around but his attempts to be subtle was futile because of the size of the place. Overall I would go back and leave any Scottsdale loving people to stand in their lines outside the Sandbar and to pay cover at Martini Ranch. CHEERS... read more

I was skeptical here but went in and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jukebox, pool tables, darts, clean restrooms, and a lady with her dog. What more can you ask for in a local establishment? Beers are on the pricier side here (though I don't know why.) Maybe because it's in Scottsdale?? Whatever, dive bar worth visiting if you're out and about. read more

I go to the donut shop next door quite a bit and have noticed this bar a few times. I stopped in with a buddy one night this week and had a great time. They have a small craft beer by the bottle selection that I appreciate. My buddy ate about three bags of Doritos but other than that I'm guessing they have just a few other bar snacks. Prices were cheap and the service was friendly. read more
