Just a little diner in Dayton Nevada on highway 50 but it produces the most delicious breakfasts. The restaurant is open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. there are half a dozen tables and a counter with chairs. The owner is always there serving breakfast and lunch to her patrons. The coffee is delicious and hot and constantly being refilled in your cup. Today we decided to try the chicken fried steak and the biscuits and gravy. Both platters were overflowing with good food. there are numerous options to choose from and numerous sides to go with plus loads of fresh homemade bread to accompany your meal. The restaurant is clean and very cutely designed as a roadside cafe. You will not leave hungry and the prices are great. I highly recommend you checking this spot out.

Roadrunner was clean and the upgrades to the restaurant look nice. Shannon is a wonderful and friendly server. She definitely makes the visit worth the time. Today I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and substituted fries for the potatoes. The burrito was ok. There was very little bacon and the burrito was overall bland. The burrito was large in size. I was craving fries and so I was sad when most of my fries were extremely undercooked to the point of raw. I have heard that the food is better when one of the guys are cooking instead of the lady that was today so I hope I will experience one of them cooking on my next visit.

If you have ever been to Dayton NV you know very well the options for lunch are slim to none. Roadrunner Cafe is one of the two non fast food spots in town. It's a small hole in an old strip mall. Pulling in you know it's gonna be a place where you are going to get simple food. No fancy's sauces, no fancy options and nothing "organic" lol. Yes, they are not spotless clean but they are also not filthy. Before even walking in you know what you are going to get inside cleanliness wise. So judging or expecting it to be spotless clean is foolish and honestly dumb imo to rate/judge. Everything is old school diner and honestly if you complain a little too much I'm sure they going to old school kick you out before giving you a discount. I came with a colleague and we both had similar expectations. We wanted someone fresh cooked for us and that's exactly what we got. For the same price as a fast food combo we got a fresh southwest scramble with a coffee. I'll take that 10/10 times over some fast food garbage. I am not in Dayton very often for lunch but I can see myself coming back.

Cute local breakfast stop. Great service. Big portions. Eggs and corned beef hash was very good. Nice crispy potatoes and large pieces of rye toast. Biscuits and gravy with eggs and thick sausage yummy. I am ready to go back and try something new.

You have to drive into Reno or Carson City to hit up a Starbucks or comparable coffee place. I heard from locals about The Roasting House. I saw pics of celebrities like Terrance Howard and Jeremy Renner sitting on the quaint little bar stools inside. Roasting House has officially entered the coffee chat room! On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!

Drinks, dessert and appetizers were extra and we tried the crab cakes. They took a while but they were so fresh and delicious! My salmon was cooked perfectly and my husband loved his tri-tip. He also loved the bread pudding - a very generous portion. Our server was also very friendly and we learned a little more about the recent history of the hotel. We would definitely return for another meal in the future. It's such a beautiful, historic gem in Gold Hill worth exploring.

We think there may have been some recent movements by the owners, and for the purposes of this review, I'll go with this Yelp entry the matches the pictures to what we experienced. Today was a quiet post-New Years day and Gayle wanted to dine someplace besides the Red Dog Saloon (our "usual"). The Canvas Cafe (or whatever it's called now) was just a block or so down C street and open. The dining room was small, cute, inviting, and warm. It was also a "one man show" today as one guy was working both the kitchen and the dining room (and very well). I especially appreciate a really busy guy who maintained a relatively high service level, with a smile and a generous side of patience. We all ordered sandwiches, including French Dip for Gayle, Smash Burger for Darling Granddaughter, and a grilled Chicken Pesto for me. Everything was delicious, with my only regret being that I should have ordered the impressive side salad that Gayle chose. A small bag of chips really didn't do the sandwich justice. I would have also preferred a beer, but there was no alcohol served today, and my bottomless glass of lemonade was more than just fine. Gayle and I agreed that we'd love to come back in whatever main place or annex. It's a fair drive back to Genoa from VC, and we were happy to head down the hill full and happy.

Greeted immediately and sat at a sizable table, I noticed plenty of seating availability; however, space was rather tight with regard to table placement. We found the menu to be extensive and combed through the plethora of choices before landing on our final decisions. Always eager to try new things, I noticed there were quite a few specialty cocktails, including spiked milkshakes. I opted for the Vanilla Kahlua, and I would do it all over again! The milkshake was blended to perfection, smooth with a little razzle-dazzle you didn't know you needed. The kids opted for chocolate milkshakes they loved and rated 10/10. Very much like our other dining experiences, the kids settled on chicken tenders and fries while we, on the other hand, chose to explore our options. We started off with chilli cheese fries along with spinach and artichoke dip served with house-made tortilla chips. The portions for both appetizers were well-sized and delicious. We managed to get quite the cheese pull with the chilli cheese fries, and the house-made tortilla chips were most definitely worth writing home about; they were perfectly sized, light, and airy with an excellent amount of crisp that added texture to the flavorsome spinach and artichoke dip. For our entrees, he ordered the bacon egg and cheese burger with fries; there was an option for a turkey Reuben; however, I'm not a fan of sauerkraut, so I politely requested a turkey Rachel, and although it wasn't an option on the menu, they obliged much to my heart's delight! It's the little things Of course, the food did not disappoint! My sandwich was toasted impeccably with the right amount of butter melted, offering a decadent crisp that merged nicely with fillings making up my sandwich. Truthfully, I was beyond impressed with the aesthetic of the establishment, the services provided, and how flavorful the food was. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging, which made our experience even more memorable, so much so that we eagerly anticipate our next visit.
