The bar is in an old historic building and the mural says the bar has been in operation for 120 years. That's a long time of weathering events such as prohibition, wars and the Great Depression. But in a small town like Brazil, you need a good bar. Inside, the bar is ancient, but tidy and comforting. I grab a seat at a high top table. Our server, Deniela, was fantastic, gave us the low down on daily specials and made a few recommendations. Water came out quickly, as did food. She checked on us regularly. I had the daily special, prime rib burrito, which was very good. The prime rib was tender and juicy. The rice was much more flavorful than the usual Tex mex rice. I loved my meal. My husband tried the breaded pork tenderloin. The breading was perfectly seasoned and the large loin was moist and tender. The bun was good, too. The hand cut chips were delicious. (I ate half his chips and could have made a meal of them.) There is street parking. I recommend a visit, but expect to be rooting for Alabama on game day. The food is delicious.

The Rueben is made with homemade corned beef, not some of that thinly sliced garbage that most places serve. This was juicy, tender, melt in your mouth goodness!! The hand breaded fish sandwich was also wonderful. You get 2 gigantic pieces of fish!! Each sandwich was served with fresh house made chips. The portions are large and you won't have a need to order more. The service was fantastic! The regulars patrons were very welcoming! It felt like we belonged at the Alabama, we will definitely be returning customers!!

The best pork tenderloin in Hoosier Indiana!…read more This place has a lot of character. It has been here since 1899. There is a covered bridge down the street. This tavern is run down but it has character. The food they're known for are the pork tenderloin and the pretzel. The pork tenderloin is massive! Three of us shared one. It was cooked to perfection. The batter had a perfect crunch. The meat was moist. The pretzel was huge! It had plenty of salt ànd butter. It was so good. Ita huge too! They offer cheese and honey mustard dipping sauces for it. Definitely tasty. I highly recommend this place of you're looking for a pork tenderloin! Beer was good and fairly cheap. I definitely would return! Don't expect fast service. It's a mom and pop running the place.

Once we were assured by our server/cook Stephanie that one tenderloin sandwich was big enough to share we ordered it along with one extra bun. The tenderloin was so large. It was hanging over the plate and we cut it into fourths to each put one piece on our bun. To say that the tenderloin was thick and juicy is an understatement, and the meat to bread ratio was phenomenal. Shared one sandwich, one order of fried mushrooms and a Budweiser for a whopping total of $20. Not sure when we'll be back in the area, but I would certainly go there again. The only thing I didn't care for is they allow smoking in the restaurant. We were there about 3 PM so only two smokers up at the bar, but I would imagine on a Friday or Saturday night. There would be many more.

However, on a recent trip back to visit my parents' grave, I finally got the chance to stop in and check it out for a bit. Central Normal Tap is basically a laid-back, charming pub and grill with solid dining options, craft beer, spirits, and a terrifically friendly vibe. I'm not sure if terrifically is really a word, but I'm sticking with it. Located on the east side of the Danville Town Square, this is a great place to hit if you're doing some visiting of the town square (and you should). It's not an all-day joint. It's really from evening into the night hours. The town square offers free parking (with accessible option). While there are stores on the square that are not accessible, Central Normal Tap is pretty darn good (some of the tables are a bit high and there are a handful of booths that have a step up). Dining options include pretzels, wings, flatbreads, and more. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but I enjoyed the time I spent. The vibe was a nice tapestry of smaller town charm with a modern energy. The food was tasty, and the service was absolutely top-notch. I would easily return, though I might avoid when it's super busy as I could imagine accessibility being a bit more challenging just due to the layout. For those who wonder (I love origin stories), the name comes from Central Normal College, a former college that moved from Ladoga, Indiana to Danville, Indiana in the 19th century and lasted until just after World War II. It's a part of Danville/Hendricks County history (you can learn more about it at the Hendricks County Museum).
