FEBRUARY 2025 -- RUN. SERIOUSLY... KEEP SCROLLING FOR ANOTHER MECHANIC…read more
Before you hand over your keys, READ THROUGH THE REVIEWS--especially the negative and recent ones--and PLEASE read my entire review. I wish I had paid more attention to the pattern before learning this lesson the very expensive way.
Look beyond the overall star rating and actually read what customers are saying. Notice a recurring theme in the negative reviews: calls not being answered, excuse after excuse, cars being kept for ridiculously long periods of time, and customers saying they eventually got their vehicles back with problems still unresolved--or worse. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, it does to me.
MY 7-MONTH ADVENTURE IN AUTO REPAIR PURGATORY
My car was there for SEVEN MONTHS this time.
Yes. Seven. Months.
I could have conceived and nearly delivered a human being in the amount of time it took to not fix my car.
And this wasn't my first extended stay at Roger's Automotive Resort & Spa. The previous time was approximately FOUR MONTHS.
After seven months of explanations, delays, and my car STILL not being properly fixed, I finally took it to two other repair shops for independent opinions.
That's when things got really interesting.
Both mechanics showed me work on my vehicle that I found absolutely unbelievable. Among the issues they identified was what appeared to be a part that had been glued into place after an incorrect part had been installed rather than the problem being properly repaired.
Apparently we had moved from auto repair to arts & crafts.
At some point, duct tape and a hot-glue gun probably would've earned me ASE certification too.
WHAT CHANGED?
Here's the crazy part: I didn't always have problems here.
When Roger had another mechanic working with him, I had used the shop without these kinds of issues. After that mechanic left, however, my experience changed dramatically.
Based solely on what happened with my vehicle, I seriously question whether Roger has the mechanical expertise to handle repairs of this complexity himself.
I joked to friends that maybe the diagnostic procedure had become:
Step 1: Watch YouTube.
Step 2: Consult TikTok.
Step 3: Glue something.
Step 4: Keep customer's car until the next presidential administration.
Funny now. Not particularly funny while I was paying for it.
AND HERE'S THE PART THAT REALLY GETS ME...
I didn't immediately demand every penny back. I didn't start out threatening lawsuits. I actually tried to resolve this reasonably.
After everything I had been through, all I asked for was a PARTIAL refund.
That's it.
Acknowledge that mistakes were made, refund a reasonable portion of my money, and we both move on with our lives.
He chose not to do that.
So now I've started legal proceedings to recover the losses I believe resulted from the work performed on my vehicle.
And fortunately, this isn't simply my word against his. I have receipts, repair records, photos, documentation, and the findings of other mechanics. At this point, I'll let that evidence speak for itself through the appropriate process.
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE
There are plenty of mechanics out there who will answer their phone, fix your vehicle correctly, and return it sometime before it qualifies for antique plates.
I have since found other mechanics--including mobile mechanics Josh and Jonathan--who, in my personal experience, have been honest, reasonably priced, and able to get repairs done correctly without turning them into a multi-season Netflix series.
Please do your homework before leaving your vehicle here.
I sincerely wish I had.
0/10 -- Would not recommend the Seven-Month Automotive Adventure Package.
