My car got towed away from a private property this week, I was furious at first over the situation and did not understand why my car was towed away. Once I arrived at RJT the gentlemen by the name of John thoroughly explained the process to me, and I understand they were just doing their job. Nevertheless, I had to pay the bill to take my car out; Everyone at RJT was very friendly and calmed down my frustration after having amazing customer service even after I was a little rude myself. I ended up liking the crew and the business so much I let them fix some dents on my bumper, John the owner kindly gave me a great price for letting them service my car after it being towed away and touched up some extra dents on the door for me with no extra charge. Now they have a new local customer, and they were able to turn a stressful situation around for me. Thank you RJT and Thank you John. read more

Rude and unprofessional. AAA had them tow my car. The person who drove the tow truck was super rude and unprofessional. They don't really want to tow your car under AAA coverage but kept asking what the issue was with the car and if I wanted to have them fix the issue with ultra high price. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! (Literally). Don't be deceived. They have very SNEAKY dealings. Once they have your car, they basically hold it hostage. We had to use their towing service because of a small accident and apparently this is who the police use (as opposed to my choosing). The guy who towed the car was very friendly, likable, and reassuring but don't be fooled! I almost was.. but then I read this yelp. Before calling. Be advised: DONT PAY CASH!!! Insist on credit. And receipt. Once you call to have your car moved, (I dealt with the same guy Id liked the evening before, which led me feel like he was a con from the get), make it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that you don't want ANY single inspection, or even an assessment.. Secret charges. Don't let them look at/check-out/assess, bc you will pay for it, even if you didn't think so because they never said a "look at" came with a fee. I had "my" car guy go tow it out of there, and it was a phone war with the guy. They had my car from about 6pm-9am, and charged me for TWO DAYS. and THEN when my tow choice went for it the next morning, the place added yet another $100 because the guy claimed it was located in a certain part of the lot. The cost for that tow came to over $600+!! Its highway robbery. SAY NO TO EVERYTHING. With this place, you need to say no to anything they offer because if you aren't car savvy, you can be fooled. I Called for towing and was told, "It will be a few minutes." I ended up waiting well over an hour. I called back again and was told, "I'm on my way." After about thirty minutes, service finally arrived. I figured since it was Sunday towing I might have to pay more. I told the driver, I lived about two to three miles from where we are. He had the nerve to charge me 175.00 for the hook up and 6.00 a mile, PLUS TAX!! Total came to 194.00, cash!! I must of had Bo-Bo The Fool stamped on my forehead. Be warned - R.J.T. Motorist Services in White Plains are scammers. They are a AAA service provider and have a record of going out on calls and luring distressed motorists to them. I put in a AAA call to be towed from Honda Service Center in White Plains to Performance auto-body in Dobbs Ferry. I was hard-pressured to cancel my call, be towed instead at NO CHARGE they said, to their facility round the corner 2 miles away while the vehicle waited for inspection by the insurance adjustor so that RJT would be considered for the repair job. I did not commit to the repair to be done at RJT. I was not informed in advance of any per day charge or any of the other charges that were presented when the adjustor turned up a week later RJT asked for $1,500 for my vehicle to be released. This was negotiated down to $1114 plus $93.30 tax which was paid so that the vehicle would be released by RJT. I see on Yelp that this is their mode of operation from as far back as 2015 - use AAA service calls to pressure motorists to send their vehicles to RJT instead of whom they had initially requested. It amazes me that AAA continues to use this facility. I have lodged a written complaint with AAA as well as the Better Business Bureau and the Bureau of Consumer and Facility Services in Albany. Specifically, RJT charged: * $110 fee for clean up time at the facility. There was no clean up. This was not the accident scene. The vehicle was at the Honda Service Center. * $184 for towing 2 miles though this was offered to me free of charge for RJT to be considered for the vehicle repair job if this was what was decided after the visit from the insurance adjustor * $585 for a storage fee that I was not informed of in advance. I hope you never have to call for AAA service in White Plains - you might get these crooks. read more

I took my car here to get the NY State Inspection done, because I didn't know of anyplace else that would take my car after I got off work at 6 (they have a "night owl" drop box where you can leave your keys and write down what you want done). When I called to find out if they could do it and explained that I work until 6 and would not be able to pick up my car before that time the next day, the guy I spoke to said "Don't worry, we'll work it out." They called me the next morning and asked for authorization for some other repairs that they said needed to be done--I am not a car expert, so I can't weigh in on whether or not those were necessary. I authorized them. I got a voicemail later that day informing me that my car was ready and could be picked up before 5:30. I did not even get that voicemail until 6. As I mentioned, I work until 6, so now I am stuck without a car until Saturday because I stupidly believed the first guy I talked to when he said we'd work the timing out! Also, the man on the voicemail message gave me the total cost of my inspection, repairs, and oil change (which was 50 bucks! Who ever heard of a $50 oil change?!). THEN he mentioned that THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. If anyone had mentioned this simple fact before I'd brought my car in, I never would have gone to them in the first place. I'm lucky that we recently received a monetary gift from a family member, or I would've had to wait a week till the next pay period to get my car because I currently have enough in my checking account to pay the mortgage and my student loan, and that's it. Lesson learned: next time, before I bring my car in to any repair place, I will ask if they take credit cards. If not, I will take my car somewhere else. I suggest that you do the same unless you are lucky enough to have enough money on hand for expensive car repairs. read more

ENTER THIS STORE IF YOU ARE SUPER RICH!! I called AAA for jump start service. Then R.J.T came. The person could not boost my car and told me it needs to be towed to their station for detail inspection. He convinced me that they are AAA auto service station and won't charge without an estimated price. In the afternoon, they called me that they could not find the issue and asked $300~400 for further computer diagnostic. I called a nearby dealer and their diagnostic cost only $135. I decided to tow my car to the dealer store. R.J.T then told me: 1. My membership only allows me to be towed once, so I need to pay an extra fee $125 to tow my car to the dealer store (both in White Plaints NY) 2. I need to pay $55 for their services (which fix nothing & find nothing) 3. Shop supply fee for $5.4, which they removed after I argued 4. Every thing including tax while they do not accept credit card and pay cash only I paid $210.08 without any repair or report issue on my car. At 4 PM on a Friday in July, while driving from Boston to Maryland, the main exhaust pipe on my 2008 Subaru Outback split open on the Merrit Parkway. It sounded like I was mining gravel in the back of my car. I limped into the Firestone repair facility in White Plains (by now it's 4:30), and they can't help, but suggest RJT is right around the corner. By this time I am already thinking I'm completely screwed and will have to spend the night in NY. Lucky for me, John and RJT came through. Big time. They had NAPA deliver the part (at 5:15!) and I was on my way an hour later. They did a great job at a fair price at an incredibly stressful time. Thanks John and RJT! read more

RJT responded to our call to AAA yesterday when my brother locked his keys inside his SUV inside a tight garage. His spare keys were over 100 miles away. A young African-American man (I would thank him personally, but forgot his name) came promptly and was very patient, resourceful and efficient. It was very difficult to open that door (an older Chevy Suburban), but his persistence and our teamwork paid off. We are grateful for his professional and effective help, and had a good experience with RJT. read more

My car broke down on my way to work, and AAA advised me to go to RJT. Boy, was that a mistake... I had to wait 2-3 hours for someone to look at my car, and another hour until I got a quote. They told me it's gonna take about 2 days, and they'll call me when I can pick up the car. After 3 days of nothing, I decided to call them, and the lady told me that I should be able to come tomorrow at 9am to pick up my car. I arrived at 9am, and had to wait until 11am. On top of that, they wanted an extra 100$ for something they didn't mention at first. So, bottom line - don't listen to AAA, and find a different place. read more

Yesterday I picked up my 2005 Subaru after RJT worked their magic. Some nut tried to pass me on the left when I had my directional on to turn left into my garage and her insurance paid for ithe damages. However, I added some $$$ and had another bumper repaired and it was really BAD. Now the car looks like new both front and back. They were a pleasure to deal with and most accommodating at all times. TOTAL RIP OFFS!!!!! AVOID!!!! I wish I had read the prior reviews on YELP. I had a flat tire and needed a plug and patch. The AAA tow truck driver towed me to RJT. RJT charged me $49 for a patch and plug which is - almost the cost of a used tire!!! I told the manager that this severely overpriced and even showed him on the internet that the average cost of a patch & plug is between $10-$20. I was towed there around 5pm and was not told the price of the service until 5:45pm - which did not leave me the choice of being towed elsewhere because the other shops in the area close at 6 pm. After researching other shops in the area, their priced ranged between $15 - $25 for a patch and plug. I left feeling robbed and taken advantage of!!! read more

This tow truck company constantly runs stop signs, red lights and drives recklessly endangering everyone around them. They are a danger to public safety. Do not ever do business with this place. They are liars, scammers and thieves. After 10 hours of mechanic time at $125 per hour they could not figure out the problem. They did in the eleventh hour. I picked the car up and a day later it was disabled again with the same problem. I asked them if they wanted to try again and would they pay for the towing. They said "of course". A week later I picked up the car and it is running, but it does not start up right away. I would never take it back to them again. Oh and they did not reimburse me for the towing cost of $265. I would caution one and all to stay away from this business. There are many other auto/mechanic shops around that have much higher ratings and do not tell lies to get customers to utilize their business. As for the actual work on the car that seems to be done well (three weeks later and no issues thank goodness.) The work was not the issue it was being sold a bill of goods time and time again that ended up costing my family five extra hours in a car and cast a partial black cloud over a joyous weekend. Friday January 13th we were heading to Brooklyn when I lost control of the car and knew we needed to call AAA. RJT Motorists were the ones who responded to the call. We told them we wanted it towed to Newtown to a garage my sister uses and told the driver it was 85 an hour for labor there. He said RJT were close to that and if we towed to RJT we would be the first one to be looked at Saturday morning and would be fixed that next day. As it was almost 10 pm and the driver told us he was supposed to work till 10 we believed what he had told us and tried to do him a solid as bringing the car up to Newtown would have added at least 2 hours on to his night. -RJT Motorists charge 110 an hour for service. The driver, who has worked for them for over a year should know full well what their price per hour is and he blatantly lied. -I have now called 12 other auto shops within a two mile radius of RJT and the highest hourly rate is 100 with most being 90 or 95. When pushed about the price Ray said " are at a body shop and all his technicians are computer literate." I do not need auto work, just belts replaced and in 2017 I would expect anyone to be computer literate. From the quick oil change locations to dealerships. -They do not take cards. What reputable companies do not take credit cards in 2017, especially places where you will usually be spending large amount of money. I am sending a letter to AAA and the IRS as I just can not see how that is not a way to have solid books for IRS review. -When we said we had no checks on us they did say they could make up an invoice under their "towing" arm of business making up miles they towed up to match the cost of parts- plus we would have the added pleasure of paying a 3-4% surcharge for the privilege of using our card. -On top of these other issues the car was not ready when we were told it was going to be. If it was the first car they looked at it would have been finished but they did not. We called close to 11 am on Saturday and they had just looked at it- they had been open for over three hours at that time. Obviously not the first car they looked at that day. There is so much more but that gives you a good idea of how this business is run. They are many options out there that will charge a much fairer rate and will not tell you falsehoods to try to get your car into their lot. AAA needs to not have them on their roister - and will be making that clear to them. There are so many wonderful garages out there that charge a fair rate, take credit cards, and treat you with respect for your time and business. I recently required emergency car service from AAA that required my car to be towed to an auto shop. My plan was to have my car towed to my local mechanic, until Ray the owner of the nearby shop reached out to assess what had happened with my car. I had my car towed to his shop where I received a speedy estimate of what needed to be repaired. I was very pleased after verifying with my local mechanic the scope and cost of the repairs, and had my repair done there instead. My car was ready as promised, and the whole experience was easier than I anticipated. I wouldn't hesitate to return there or recommend this service shop! read more

Didn't honor the price or timeframe that was agreed too, which was completely unacceptable given there was zero change to the nature of work being performed. In fact they had a problem with there supplier and passed the cost associated with that problem on to me the customer. In addition they are not forthcoming with the status of your repair, so you have to babysit them or nothing will get done. They took advantage of the fact that I was out of town when my car became disabled and the fact that I had limited options as a result. I was in White Plains on business and had a dead battery. I called AAA who sent out RJT Motorist services. The way the car was parked, the jumper cables could not reach my battery. The driver did not have one of those battery packs, which seemed odd. Basically I had to buy a battery in order to get going. The driver installed the battery, and when I went to pay, he informed me that THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS!!! This is unacceptable in this day and age, especially for a service provider who as a AAA contract to service stranded motorists. I had to follow the driver to an ATM and withdraw cash. Then several days later I got a call saying the driver had overcharged me and so they were mailing me a check (instead of simply crediting my card because THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS) I would never voluntarily choose to do business with a mechanic who DOES NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS. I cannot understand how these people are allowed to have a AAA contract, since consumers have no choice in who AAA sends out. This is a place who clings to archaic practices and does not keep up with the times: forcing the purchase of a battery for lack of a simple, modern charging/jump start box, and NEGLECTING TO TAKE CREDIT CARDS. These guys are real scammers. They had their AAA Battery Service truck come to service my car at work, which was having trouble starting because the battery was so not recharging. They guy said his testing machine wasn't working and said I could follow him to the shop. He gave me the address and just as we were about to leave he said they called him elsewhere. So I drove across town to go to the shop only to find that the AAA service was not offered there on premise and the labor would be $55 extra dollars! What a rip off! A total bait and switch. I was traveling solo with a car and cargo trailer from out of state, on my way to set up and spend the weekend at a Craft Show in the next town over. When I had problems with my trailer lights on the way , I called many places in the area and was turned away. Ray from RJT told me to come right in, despite the fact that I had no appt. and they were busy. Not only did they do a thorough job figuring out the problem, they were good communicators and delivered the car and trailer back to me to my show site on a Saturday afternoon after they had technically closed, while I was in my booth selling. They were professional, courteous, did not overcharge me, and I don't know what I would have done without them on this trip. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! read more

The R.J.T Motorist James C. Was able to meet me, i had a low tire which we came to the conclusion it was a nail. I proceeded to ask to change it for the spare tire, i have truck and the spare is located under the truck and requires a tool that comes with the car( which i had available), the motorist stated that he would have to cut the spare tire holder because the car was old and had rust. The motorist immediately told me would be better to get it towed to a tire shop but I had previously contacted the tire shops around me and there was no times available. At the end James (the motorist) did not even change the tire for the spare or plug the tire. Then he gave me a business card and told me to come to the shop on Monday so they could fix the issue with my spare tire , which is none, NOW THAT I WAS OFF WORK I WENT OUTSIDE AND TRIED TO GET THE TIRE OFF MYSELF AND IT CAME. The first thing that tipped me off is that they received 5 reviews within one month, when previously, they only received 2 other reviews since 2011! Then, when I clicked on the reviewers to see what else they've reviewed, you can see that they all happen to review seemingly random places across the US and Canada.
