Scott is the owner. Out of 6 places called on Sunday he was the only one who answered quickly and was able to come out later that day. Our furnace had been cycling on, then off all morning and the temps were going to be in the 30's that night. He suggested a time window and told me up front there was NO premium charge for the service on Sunday. He arrived as planned and was able to quickly diagnose an issue with the heat exchanger temperature limit sensor. He had a replacement part in the truck and had us up and running in no time. He even added an inline fuse to the transformer input (normally on newer models- missing on ours) to make sure there was no issue with the sensor he installed. My wife and I both appreciated the warm house that night. Scott did wear a face mask when he arrived- much appreciated in this time of Covid. He shared what he was doing as he did it. I explained that we had the original furnace in a 20+ year home, so he made sure I understood that a new furnace might be in our future and described some of the advantages of a new system. He also sent me a quote- which I have to review. The cost of the repair was reasonable and he applied a $35 new customer discount that I had seen on his web site. This is a very reckless driver in the RJS van. I have seen him speeding to pass cars many times on River road in Algonquin In no passing zones. I've also seen this van in neighborhoods passing by children playing at what seems to too fast for a neighborhood. Please be careful if you see this van. read more

I scheduled a Clean and Check for my A/C with RJS. Their tech arrived on time as requested. He did a very thorough inspection of the unit, took careful measurements of pressures and electrical. Also did a VERY extensive cleaning of the condenser that the previous company hadn't done in several years. RJS also did a C&C on my furnace last year with the same quality. He finally quoted me a price of 2500 dollars for 3 parts. Crazy out of line ridiculous. Called someone else and told me it was only the pump was bad. Pump cost 350 and 150 in labor. Poor after service, accountability and responsibility. Called them for a issue with unit installed by them 3 years ago, which has a 10 year warranty. They told me I get a 5 year warranty since I am the second owner of the house, the unit is still within warranty that's what I thought and I was happy for a second, but again they flipped out by saying the warranty starts from the date of manufacture which is 2012 and not date of installation.so no warranty in short. When it comes to selling, the owner opens his big mouth and explains big advantages with RJS but when it comes to standing by it then they act like a third world contractor. Moving on, I told him to charge whatever it takes but get the issue fixed and make sure it is reliable, which he did. After a week had another issue with the system to which he started blaming the person installing the thermostat, thermostat manufacturer etc but himself. For the same amount of money or less and not to mention the history class just to make up 1 hour of fees you can get professional services who can stand by their word. If you are installing these systems for 15 to 20 years then you do need a peace of mind then this bs. read more

I called Scoot in desperation because my mother-in-law's furnace wasn't working. I called fist thing in the morning explaining I needed someone I can trust to go over there and I had a bad experience from another company who tried to charge me over $500 just to replace a $19 sensor that you can buy through Amazon. Scott said he would personally go out himself and call me with a quote. Turns out he gave the furnace a good cleaning and replaced an intermitted sensor for less than half the price I was quoted from someone else just to replace a sensor. These guys are INCREDIBLY helpful! We woke up on day 2 of the Polar Vortex to find it was 48 degrees in the house and the furnace wasn't working. I did a little online research to find out what the problem might be, but was stumped. I called RJS and explained what was going on and he was able to talk me thru what was happening and some things I could do to get it working again without having to pay the cost for a technician to come out and look at it. I was supposed to have a maintenance done on my AC today, that I had been trying to schedule for the last 6 weeks but could not due to inconsistent temperatures. Received a call today from the service company saying they could not come out today due to people who did not have working AC, ours was not an emergency, and the service was going to be a waste of my time and his. Also that it was not worth the $75 he would have received for the maintenance. If I had just scheduled this service I would not have minded but I even had to wait an additional 2 weeks for an appointment after I scheduled. I understand everyone needs to make money but we scheduled this service and we were going to have them do the follow up service on anything else needed. Only to be told at the last minute our service would not be worth the trip. No thanks! read more

This winter, man! This winter is a jerk. It's so cold. Still, of course, I'm grateful that I live in a home with a perfectly functional heating system. ...until it wasn't. Today, to be exact -- today where the high was only supposed to be -6 F. That's without windchill factors, which were supposed to make it feel like -40 F. Today was my day off, and I had grand plans to just sit, knit, and Netflix. No going anywhere, staying cozy and comfy on the couch. I'm glad I was home, because there was a pretty major gas leak going on with my furnace. When I followed the procedure that the furnace had listed to shut off and restart the thing, I couldn't get it to come back on. I called RJS around 10am, and they promised to have a guy here between noon and 1. Long story short, guy diagnosed and fixed the gas leak, then put the access panels back in place. Turns out that I hadn't put the door back correctly after I reset it, so the safety switch that lets the furnace turn on wasn't pushed in. Good thing, too, because HELLO GAS LEAK. At any rate, all is good now, and the furnace is working well. All is warm and cozy, and Jim from RJS did a great job and answered all my questions. Its quite a shame that this gem of a place does not have a single yelp review. Apparently they are super popular on Angie's list and it would be helpful if RJS posted those links here. So it all began last week when my furnace started to make some interesting noises this Monday. Being the total handyman that I (hint of sarcasm all over), I promptly turned off the furnace. Seems like the system was trying to light the furnace without any success. I started doing my reading about furnaces and companies. Note to self, don't use yelp for these types of issues. Little to no help is available on it. I called Airtech out to take a look at it. They didn't try to figure out the issue because apparently my heat exchanger was broken and hence they could not start it up. Loss of $65 there, but somehow the expectation that they had was I would be purchasing a furnace from them right away which I thought was annoying especially since the guy did not help. After two days and five other vendors, enter Scott from RJS late night on Wed, who showed up to give us a quote but also managed to fix the furnace at no cost to us !! I was pretty impressed especially since he was the only guy among all the vendors that properly addressed each and every part that he was planning on install, the why and where he was going to install. More importantly, he was focused on the details of neatly wrapping and tidying up everything in the furnace, in areas where nobody would have noticed. That's the kind of workmanship that I like and that definitely gathered big points in my book. After doing a careful review and assessment of my options, I selected the Trane XV 80 for my place since I figured it was the most bang for my buck. Scott and his crew (Robert and mystery guy whose name i forget!!) got started in the basement and in a couple of hrs had everything in place, nice and neat. I now have a brand new furnace, a new humidifier and my ac/humidifier outlets are in the same place. I have never been more happier with a job so neatly and meticulously done. Let me set the stage: Friday night, 10pm - our furnace suddenly sounds like someone threw a brick into a washing machine on a spin-cycle. Something told me that wasn't quite right... Our first call was to RJS (thanks, Yelp & the Trane website). Scott was at our place by 11:30 pm - on a Friday night, remember. Our problem turned out to be a bit more involved and it took until the next day to get parts but Scott was in regular contact with us and the price was very reasonable, given the work that had to be done (and the timing). On top of that, we had another issue a day or two later that seemed related but actually wasn't. Scott came out, diagnosed it and gave us options for fixing it and didn't charge us for his time. When we complained, he called us cheap Indians (we are from the middle east). To top it off he sent us the receipt with Patel written on it even though that is not my name. The repairman who came to the house, Jim, had a bad temper, couldn't follow instructions or directions, and refused to respect my requests. 1) The repairman incorrectly wired the system the first time he tried, so it took twice as long to finally get the thermostat repaired. I can understand a mistake, but he got angry with me instead of apologizing for his inability to wire it correctly the first time. He kept making excuses and blamed the thermostat. 2) He acted as though he lived at the house a) He unlocked the front door so it would make it easy for him to go back and forth. B) He insisted on going downstairs independently, even though I made it clear I wasn't comfortable allowing a repairman to be downstairs (or anywhere else in the house) unsupervised. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this company. They were extraordinarily discourteous when I called and asked for some kind of compensation for having to deal with the angry repairman who couldn't follow directions. . They went so far as to lie and tell me that Te repairman couldn't possibly be racist bc he was married to a black woman. I doubt it. What an ordeal. :/ SJ read more

I have been using RJS since I purchased my house in 2005. They are knowledgeable and prompt. I just had my heat go out and I called at 8:30 at night expecting to get a voicemail and leaving a message to come check my furnace out in the morning. To my surprise the owner picked up the phone and came to my house in a snowstorm and fixed my furnace that night! We, as consumers, don't always take the time to share the good stories in our lives, and RJS has been a good one for me. On Thursday evening I returned home to find that my central air unit was not running, just before the first major "hot" spell of the year. Friday morning, approximately 6:30am, I called up RJS to get an estimate on a repair or potentially replace the unit. Scott answered, offered to call me back in 15 mins as he was working on something with his crew, and he actually did call back. When he called back we chatted about the situation, and he came out late afternoon same day to see me. Scott arrived, and by this point I had already decided on replacing vs repairing my unit. There was no point in a patch job on an older unit that was no longer worth it. We discussed the outside unit, an extra component within my yard that he noticed, and then we went inside to look at the furnace set up. Again, I have another aging system that I already had an emergency repair on in the middle of winter (by a competitor that gave me awful service but when it's cold and you have no heat, you deal), and now I've opted to talk replacing the furnace and the thermostat as well. All in all, Scott was reasonable, professional, and provided an in-depth presentation of the work his team was going to do and when it could be done. RJS wasn't the cheapest (buyer beware) but he also wasn't the most expensive. Out of a possible three companies by 7am on Friday morning, I signed with RJS on Friday afternoon with install scheduled for Tuesday (the day after Memorial Day). Scott could have done the A/C on Saturday but not the furnace - again, reasonable. I was happy with my choice of units at that point. Tuesday morning rolls around, install day! I got a called in the morning confirming the crew would arrive by 830am, and there they were on time and ready to work. Rob and Randy were my crew for the day. Very professional, walked through to see where they were working, options for different access points in and out of the house, explained what they were planning on doing, and I got out of their way (at least I tried to). Rob was on AC duty, at first, and Randy had furnace duty. Obviously both needed help from one another throughout the install, but again I tried to peek in at what was going periodically. Scott arrived late morning to check in on them, just so happened to be when they were both working on the furnace, but it was great to see the president of the company come out and check on install in person. Guys were at it until 4:30pm on Tuesday and cleaned everything up - like they were never there. Did I want to spend the money to replace all of these units, no; however, I'm glad I did since both units are so quiet. If you're looking for HVAC, I highly recommend RJS. Scott, Rob, and Randy were fantastic and I'm loving having AC when we're already living in 90 degree temps in May. I'm looking forward to calling for annual maintenance as well since I know they'll call, get it scheduled, and come out in a timely fashion to continue meeting the bar they have set for themselves. read more

A great level of service provided by RJS once again. My husband and I recently had RJS out to install a new water heater. They did a wonderful job! We upgraded from a 40 gallon to a 50 gallon. We were thrilled with the work that RJS did. Unfortunately very soon after our boiler took a turn for the worse and finally died (it was 46 years old). I called RJS over Easter weekend and spoke with the owner Scott. First thing Monday morning, two technicians were out installing my new boiler. I don't know what happened to RJS. I used them for several years but this company has gone downhill. I had RJS installed a new HVAC to one our investment properties last year. On the purchase, it stated must schedule annual maintenance in order for the warranty to be in effect. I called left messages TWICE to schedule the maintenance but no response. So don't believe when they tell you have number of years of warranty. If they don't want to do the maintenance then they probably will cheat their way out of the warranty. read more

This is a great local business that we have had a very good experience for heating and a/c. We had a 'boom' with our old furnace a few years back and the owner came out and gave us an 'ok' on our furnace. We eventually purchased a new furnace through RJS along with a new a/c unit. The furnace worked great over the winter. When my husband had a question about the fan, we were able to call RJS and they came right over to look into the issue. When the spring came, the A/C was not working. Again, quick service with a phone call and tech coming over to take care of the issue - breaker was tripped. Now we are cool and happy. RJS heating did a good job on my furnace but installed humidifier incorrectly. It stopped working in two weeks and cost me well over 400 to install a new one. Scott who is the owner said it was installed correctly but according April Aire website it was not installed correctly. Our air conditioner was discharged in winter and Scott told us there company would come out when weather gets warmer. They have not followed up to do so. I have called Scott three times and left two messages. He has not called me back and when he does pick up the phone he will say he would call back and never does. Winter is here and woke up one morning and it was a tad chilly in my town home. For some reason the furnace was not kicking out any heat, so I did a YELP search near me and after reading some good reviews I decided to call RJS Heading & Cooling. Got on the phone and quickly set up a time for them to come out and check out my furnace. Scott was very informative about my current furnace , which was 20 years old. A quick fix and my furnace was working again. I knew my furnace was reaching it's end of it's life cycle so I discussed with him about installing a new furnace. I knew this wouldn't be cheap but the price was right in the ball park I was expecting for a new furnace. So after some questions and getting the financing squared away we scheduled RJS to come out and install the new furnace. Their crew showed up right on time and was very knowledgable about any questions I had about the heating system and very helpful with making sure I knew how to run the new thermostat and furnace. I cant explain in words how happy I am that I went with RJS do install my new furnace, humidifier and programmable wifi thermostat. It had snowed 6 inches the night before thru the morning, yet their crew was still on time at 9:00am to start the install. Robert was extremely gracious, knowledgeable and experienced. The install went very smoothly and the 3 man left no mess what so ever. Our furnace room looked 100 times better and cleaner than before they started the install. After talking to Scott over the phone and in person, he gave me a great deal on the Trane xv95 furnace, and I couldnt be happier.
