After all the insulation was removed, they air-sealed all the penetrations (with fire-rated spray foam) and then added a fluffy R38 insulation everywhere. And this was all via the roof, not dragging hoses and insulation through the house to get access to the attic hatch. Much easier for me not to have people going inside our house all day making a mess. The roofing job was delayed for 2 days due to possible rain and they worked directly with Insul Techs to adjust the scheduling, making it all painless and seamless for me. Our home was rodent proofed, insulation replaced and cleaned under the house and all areas sealed for $1500. Attic Green's technician was very complimentary of our home which we appreciated. However, I believe his quote was indicative of thinking we had 9K to blow on a service we already had and was familiar with. I then contacted Uriel and we discussed the quote. We had a great conversation and understood they didn't do the initial work, although I had a quote of $1700 in 2020. I reached out to the initial contractor and was quoted $2000. He indicated no infestation, no insulation needed to be replaced and he took a picture of where the open spaces were where rodents were coming in which was on top of our garage, not the crawl space. It was very expensive but we went with them mainly because the "inspector" (a salesman through and through) had excellent English and promised to personally manage the project. He answered one subsequent question and then disappeared, never to be heard from again. The estimated 3-day job took 3 weeks, with schedules shifting daily, different crews, minimal work days, redundant and often incorrect communication via text and email, and no explanations of what was going on. The crews were friendly but spoke minimal English. It was difficult to understand what was done, not yet done, or not intended to be done. Once they left, the critters remained. Staff came back 3 or 4 times to seal additional openings ... to the wrong area (crawl space rather than attic). The most recent visit by Jorge was very good. He had good English so his explanations were understandable and helpful. He found and fixed two more openings - these at roof level - and recommended a spray that can repel rodents from returning. I bought and used that (why don't they do that themselves?) and the first night at least was the first "quiet" night in months.

In my requested scope, they also complete rat proofing and added a new attic access, with new batt insulation secured to the top of the hatch, as well as a barrier of wood planks and batt insulation to prevent the blown in insulation from falling out of the hatch whenever it's opened. They even identified that one of our bathroom exhaust fans was not appropriately connected to outside so they installed the replacement duct that I purchased. But even after cleaning it out, the smell wasn't going away. Then the vent started giving off either smoke or steam, and in a panic I immediately turned off the dryer. Thank God I didn't start a dryer fire. The second I shut it off and made sure everything was ok, I opened Yelp and searched for a dryer vent cleaner. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. Chris showed up during the window he quoted and wasted no time getting to work. He started the second he arrived and was done within the hour. His pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and so far, in the couple of weeks since he was here, we've had no issues with the dryer.
